With over 4 days left on the countdown timer we already have two submitted entries, and can see plenty of potential submissions already being worked on. Keep the sign ups coming! Remember, they won't close throughout the duration of the game until the end of the final round, so you have 6 opportunities to join in at any time if the Element challenge isn't for you... but we really would love to see everyone give it a try!

 

While Golden Hit is not about winning, we couldn't help but notice while navigating the main forum page that with over 300 replies (and counting!), Golden Hit is now the Top Topic of the Week!

 

 

This was very unexpected for us, and it's all possible thanks to the almost 40 of you who have signed up for Round 1 already. In order to celebrate, an amendment will be made to a previously announced bonus prize:

The way that honey behaves differently compared to water, particularly in terms of its consistency, is indeed something I explore in one lyric (so far) of my song

 

It's a fun mental exercise to imagine how it would be to live in a world where the water there is honey. For example, can honey evaporate? (Not this turning into a Science lesson )

 

My concept is mainly that this fantasy world's water is literally honey. For me it is more fun that way writing about a world where things are fundamentally and literally different to ours, instead of me writing a song about our real world and just describing water as honey. The rain is honey, the rivers are honey. However, I did also want to leave more room for other interpretations because my song is highly metaphorical anyway. I feel like the more metaphorical it is, the more it leaves things up to the reader's interpretation.

 

Another interpretation is that maybe the consistency of honey is different in this fantasy world too, maybe it is closer to that of water. The honey in the fantasy world may not necessarily match completely with the honey in our real world.

I guess I can kind of relate to this, sometimes it’s hard to be in the right mental state to focus with writing, you really have to be in a certain creative mode and it can be hard to get into, but like you said when you are focused and you get in that mode it can all come out quite quickly. 
A recommendation I would have to try and reach this state is something simple, just listen to some of the music you like, and also listen to songs in the vain of something you’d like to channel for this round (for example if I was thinking of writing a water song I’d probably listen to Lilo by The Japanese House or night swimming by Soccer Mommy). 
If you keep at it though, I’m sure you’ll be able to get there! Just keep trying and it’ll pay off.

Well, sometimes I wake up (it also happens when I stay up and I don't sleep, especially if I look at a screen or use technology too much) and the world feels fake. The bricks of buildings look fake. It is like everything is designed or simulated like a video game, or more accurately like virtual reality. I see the shapes of the physical world like for example I would see a chimney and see how it is formed by a rectangle or square shape and it is like I can see pixels in the world around me, like pixels in the air too. It is like reality itself or this realm is powered by electricity when I experience this. This occurs when I wake up after sleeping normally. Usually in the early hours of the morning, like 5am-9am. Outside is usually quiet, calm, it has like a fresh vibe but something feels off. It feels and sounds like there is barely anyone outside like I am the only one awake or viewing the world. The birds look kind of fake too, the way they fly. Anyway... Supposedly I'm not the only one who experiences this.

 

It's a really fun song to write and for me to imagine what else is different in the fantasy world!

I wouldn't be surprised the fact that Kit-Kat has no hyphen? It never had one? Not in the world I grew up in. I remember tracing over the hyphen in that Kit-Kat bar with my finger. South America wasn't that far to the east on the world map. Japan's location is off too. And Victoria's Secret changed to Victoria Secret then changed back to Victoria's Secret. Chick-Fil-A was Chik-Fil-A and also Chic-Fil-A before. The Flintstones was The Flinstones at one point. The sun wasn't this white. The sun is literally like a harsh fluorescent light now. It used to be more yellow. The Thinker statue keeps changing and Mona Lisa is smiling tew much. What does this all mean? Whew, life really is STRANGE

 

The design on a blanket I literally have in real life changed from it having a design of one sheep (or something like that) in the middle at the top, to then changing one day to two unicorns at the top not in the middle but spaced differently.

 

People get gaslighted so much about Mandela Effects but I know what I experienced.

This kinda reminds me of a song I wrote called Red Green Blue, it was about how when you move your face close to a tv screen (at least the old ones) that you can see how the image is actually made up of just lines of red green and blue, and that what you saw further away wasn’t actually real, and the idea that life could be like that.

I do too! People find things like this weird but why wouldn't you want to know why we exist, what is really going on here? I think it is smart and makes sense to know more about the environment you're living in and to consider the purpose behind it, to reflect on existence itself. I think people have adopted too much of a template that doesn't encourage them to question and think freely for themselves.

 

The thing is: I do think we'll know the answers someday personally. At least more than what we know now. But yes it is so fun to think about.
