Well, height is part of the story, there is lung capacity and so many other things. Didnt Lia Thomas place 260 among male swimers vs. Top 5 among female swimers.

Should we be measuring the volume of every women's lungs and disqualifying anyone with lungs too large?  Should a trans women with small lungs be allowed to compete? Lia Thomas placed in the top 5 among men when she competed as a man.  She is just an incredible athlete.

Those who say it’s a complex issue, what so hard for y’all to understand?

A trans woman is physically different in so many ways, muscle mass, lung capacity, and chromosome.

Mentioning scientific facts is transphobic but discrediting them is sexist to cis women.

I find it really interesting that people all of a sudden care about women's sports when it can be used to exclude people.

Trans women should be allowed to compete in women's sports.

1) I have not seen definitive evidence that the majority of trans women really have any advantage.
2) Even if they on average have some advance, it would only be slight.  They would still need to be extremely good athletes to even stand a chance against cis woman athletes.
3)  Even if they are extremely good athlete, the purpose of sports is to give people an opportunity to build camaraderie and leadership experience.  Trans women should not be denied this opportunity.

All of this :cm:

Some sociologist should do a comprehensive study on this tbh. Because I do wonder how many trans girls place in 4th, 5th etc and those just don't make headlines. I can acknowledge that there may be a biOlOGiCaL advantage for some trans girls, but I also think most of the people concerned about this issue aren't concerned for the right reasons. Like, these are often people who typically wouldn't bat an eye about women's rights being taken away and now they're suddenly up in arms over it

Nobody should transition before puberty tbh

and literally no one medically does

Transwomen have an OBVIOUS a biological advantage over ciswomen when it comes to the great majority of  sports.

Anyone thinking they play on the same level is delusional.

Voted against it but I also wanna remind y'all to stream No Seas Cortés for clear skin :alexz:

They should have their own category because there's a biological advantage there. I'd like to know why transmen aren't breaking any records in male sports...yeah.

I once saw a video of a cis-gender female athlete saying no one ever cares about women in sports and then suddenly they star caring about them when they want to "protect" them from trans women. That's all I'm going to say. :cm:

As someone who is neither a cis woman, nor a trans woman and definitely doesn't have any understanding of competitive sports, I don't think my opinion matters :michael:

& that's that on that!

I’m very supportive of trans women but come on… a trans girl competing in something physical like wrestling or weightlifting is just not fair :rip:

Trans women are biologically born male - giving them an unfair advantage. It isn’t fair at all.

You have proof?

Trans women take hormones that probably get rid of alleged advantages.

OT: My, yours, or anyones opinions don’t matter. Trans women are women, not cross dressers.

Sports are separated by SEX, not gender identity. I'm not understanding what's so "complex". :coffee2:

Transwomen are women and should not be excluded from any women’s spaces.

But sports is more than just gender... biology plays a role here too.

I haven’t made up my mind yet. I think we lack the necessary information and until we have it, I think trans women should compete with cis women.

Should we really be disqualifying women based on body anatomy though?  Like should any women over 6 ft be disqualified from playing basketball because of an unfair advantage?

Stop speaking nonsense.

100m Freestyle World Records:

Men: 46.91

Women: 51.71

The fastest cis woman can't even achieve "B" (50.03) based on men's standards.

A man swimming a 51.71 100m freestyle is mediocre in men's competitive swimming, but he would be getting endless gold medals in women's events.

I mean people act like all trans women are allowed to compete unconditionally when it's not true. There's testosterone thresholds they have to meet and that largely dictates how much muscle mass they can put on. The only true advantage they have is their height/longer limbs but then by that same logic biological women who naturally are just as tall should be banned too.

Sports are too strict with these distinction anyways. I remember at the Tokyo Olympics two biologically female Namibian sprinters were disqualified simply because their bodies naturally produced more testosterone. That's so stupid. You're not allowing someone too compete simply because they are too gifted?

Also just found out that Lia Thomas has actually only come in first once since her transition and was flopped in other races so what are people even fuming about

This is SUCH a dumb argument. Trans women who have fully transitioned and meet the guidelines of any sports organization factually perform much worse than they did as males so you can NOT make comparisons using Men's stats
