Pop Emergency: Camila barely made it to top 10, what went wrong?

Nothing went wrong, this is just the natural progression of her career. She has never been big enough to be considered global or a household name. She got lucky with two features and her fans gaslit themselves into thinking she was a factor. The music she makes just doesn’t resonate or stick with the GP (see every single she’s released bar Havana and Señorita)

I don't think you can count Young Thug as the reason for Havana's success. That was on her shoulders. She did happen for real circa Havana, her debut album and NBTS. For like four months she seemed like she was the next big thing in pop. It's after that they lost the plot with mediocre music, the PR relationship, confusing single choices, relying on features for a hit, tumblr scandal, etc etc.

are those numbers bad? I mean she almost made the top 10?

Part of the problem here is that the sales units from all the leading albums are so low, that almost any other pop female could have grabbed an easy #1 and if bundles were still a thing, you'd probably find Doja Cat or Oliva doing something to grab the #1 spot. The Top 3 albums are projected to do 46k, 44k and 43k units. This should have been an easy #1 for a pop female who could beat 46k.

On international charts, female UK indie rock duo Wet Leg, have grabbed #1 in the UK and Australian charts, #4 in NZ, #4 in Ireland and #8 in Germany.

Familia album chart performance on International charts:
#9 in the UK, #26 in NZ, #27 in Germany, #27 in Australia, #36 in Ireland.

The album is her best, a shame about the numbers but I’ve been streaming nonstop so I’m not to blame for flop!

It’s great. Lola is so good too. We need more music like this.

No, they are catastrophic. Her fanbase made fun of Billie's HTE and called it a bomb when HTE debuted at #1 with 238k sold while Familia is expected to debut at #13 with 25k sold.

“Her fanbase” you mean one user who mainly Stan’s Post Malone who you drag all the time. :deadbanana:

That one and those other racist users that have been suspended a few times :dies: it’s always been very clear the type of people that stan her, especially after the Normani mess

The total numbers on Spotify aren't too bad, but the album tracks are on pair with Avril's :rip: does this girl not have a fanbase?

did anyone really have high expectations for this chick? it's not like she's a main pop girl or even on the brink of it.

ever since pure sales died, I'm not even sure what "flop numbers" are anymore anyway. I don't keep track like I used to and maybe it's me getting old, but I used to definitely care about the bb200. I very rarely check that chart anymore. it's all about the hot 100 and even that is getting a bit stale lately.

She should have waited until the vinyls were ready. She would have gone top 10

@Hot Volcano get in here sis! You were right, there was NO WAY her numbers were going to be that bad! They went up :clap3:

Her stans spent way more time trolling other artists like Gaga and Dua than putting in effort to buy and stream their faves music

This is not surprising. Like, at all. People don't even know who she is. Havana was big, yes, but it was a case of the song being bigger than the artist. That song (+ her #relateablecontent) didn't give people a reason to care about her as an artist.

That seems like a bad choice by Camila and her team. She doesn't appear to have a headlining tour coming up before her vinyl ships from her on-line store in July. So I don't know why she had to release the album now. She appears to have just two concerts performances booked before then.

She kind of was in early 2018. This is a case where they REALLY fumbled it to a shocking degree. She had the huge #1 global smash, solid follow up, her album did decent numbers, it looked like she was the next big thing.

“Camilas third album flop hahahah”-people who Stan girls who can’t even release an album. The lack of self awareness. Camila 3 albums. 4H girls a big fat NADA

Posted

she just doesn't really have any kind of strong presence or identity associated with her as an artist is the problem. I wouldn't go so far as to say she's a non entity but people clearly aren't checking for her and her vibe is just like...absent to me. if that makes sense.

Pretty cool to see Tool still selling so well for an album that came out 3 years ago though, 100% pure sales, yr faves could never etc

Lots of people irl seem to think she’s a racist :gaycat6:

Can someone fill me in one what she actually did? :soda:
