RideOrDie Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 2022.04.08 https://banks.ffm.to/serpentina Spoiler 1. Misunderstood 2. Meteorite 3. **** Love 4. Dead End 5. Holding Back 6. The Devil 7. Skinnydipped 8. Burn 9. By the Sea 10. Spirit 11. Anything 4 U 12. Unleavable 13. I Still Love You
FallenFroot Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 "The Altar" was an instant masterpiece for me, but I struggle to get into her newer albums. I don't really like the vocal effects on "Holding Back" (which is a great song otherwise), and songs like "Burn" and "Spirit" are not what I wanna hear from Banks. On the positive side, I still love "The Devil" and got in to "Skinnydipped", which I didn't like as a single back in August. From the new songs, I adore "**** Love", "Deadend", "Anything 4U" and "Unleavable", while "I Still Love You" might be her best ballad yet. The album is still growing on me, so I hope it will end up with 7/10 at least eventually.
Whore of Babylon Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 don't know why critics have such a complicated relationship with her, but this is better than most of the acclaimed albums this year, and it has some of her best songwriting yet
Atlantis Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 This album grew on me so much, it's actually so good.
Cali. Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Her best album so far. This is the best and most confident she's ever sounded. The writing is superb (usual for Banks) and her melodies are undeniable.

She’s carved out her own unique, trademark sound and is a very good songwriter on top of that. Drives me crazy how underrated she is because she deserves better.
ZORBIT Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Shocked I didn't know this dropped, III was stellar imo so looking forward to how this vibes out
Scheissex Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I'm not sure if it's the mastering or lackluster production but the entire thing just sounds so... flat.
justin464 Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I still can't decide if I like this album or just forcing myself to like it lol. I definitely love a few of the tracks (Misunderstood, Meteroite, F*** Love, Holding Back). Some of the tracks have so much potential but something is just missing, like Deadend, Anything 4 U & Unleavable all could be 10/10s but they are all lacking something. III remains my favorite album from her
Abracadabra Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I'm surprised by the mixed reaction, I think the album is stunning. I also loved III and I remember a lukewarm response to that album too.
Frozen99 Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 skinnydipped finally clicked with me better has also finally clicked .. after 7 years fall over from goddess is slaying me i really love this album, **** love, i still love you it doesn't have standouts per se but it doesn't have flops spirit
John Slayne Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 (edited) Skinnydipped was one of my most streamed songs from last year, such an earworm. I'm a little late... This is her best album. I've always been only a casual fan but I stan this era and I'm considering buying tour tickets. Meteorite, Deadend, Unleavable, **** Love were all instant for me. The Devil is great too of course. I Still Love You is her best ballad Critics don't know what they are talking about, this album is excellent and better than a lot of albums they acclaimed this year. SweetTalker Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 I’ve known about Banks since the Goddess album but never really cared to listen to her lol, other than a couple of songs (with **** With Myself being my favorite one) But I’ve really enjoyed the pre-release singles for some reason, specially Holding Back and Meteorite. Will listen to the album some time soon
thatsmydemi Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 (edited) **** Love is a SMASH The biggest HIT potential she's dropped since Beggin' For Thread EASILY. Is it on any Spotify playlist? It has already surpassed Meteorite on Spotify despite the latter being released as a promo single Edit: First page. Daily remember this album is AMAZING. Edited April 15, 2022 by thatsmydemi

It truly is and it has to be a single. The way she rides the beat, unff. Clearly my FAVE on the album. As I expected, my love for the album gets bigger the more I listen to it. She did that.
Coma Baby Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 I always thought she was very hit or miss and haven't really paid attention to her in a minute. Randomly decided to give this a listen yesterday and thought it was bland, boring and all around blah as hell.
