on haikyuu. started the spring qualifier finals. so the team that just lost will fade to the background :clap3:

i kinda prefer the training/other non-match arcs/scenes though, for their characterization and development.

Picked up the MHA manga again, currently at the Final War arc (chapter 348 to be precise) and oh wow

People can trash this show as much as they want (sometimes for valid reasons) but the artstyle is so f*cking good :jonny5:Each chapter is pure eyegasm

Anime is not doing it justice at ALL

Finished haikyuu. Agree with the people who are confused how they can squeeze 110 chapters into 2 films. The garbage dump battle is  the center of the first film, okay. That leaves 78 other chapters including multiple other important matches, with the last one kinda being the whole point of the series. Plus a whole crucial character development arc for Hinata.

But anywho, Hinata bonding with Oikawa finally made me like Oikawa for the very first time. I wanted more Hinata/Kenma in the tail end of things, but what we get is solid.

The last 4 volumes are the highest rated on goodreads and I can see why. It’s a great change of pace, and cements Hinata as one of the best protagonists of the medium. He carries the whole series on his back and makes me care despite having near zero interest in volleyball.

Oh this absolute spill. I agree with everything here.

its very hard and very rare for me to love an MC, and even with Hinata I didn’t LOVE him until the Inarizaki match. But to see his journey and growth, and learn so many lesson from him. I adore him so much and he’s def my favorite character in Haikyuu and maybe even for Shonen as a genre.

S/N : I think they are gonna cut out the match after nekoma and leave it to flash backs to fill in context for the final game. But really if they could just make it three movies instead of two I’d be way happier

Caught up with the MHA manga and it's kind of the Demon Slayer of the manga industry. Absolutely stunning art, but the plot itself is... not on par let's just say that

Spoiler

Shigaraki better f*cking die by the end of this arc. "You are human" my ass :rip: He's absolutely irredeemable at this point and he better not survive or, even worse, switch sides :deadbanana4: I'll be fuming so hard

Also the аsspull of Bakugo was hilarious. First he tragically dies but there's a plot twist! Here's a random irrelevant hero (that had like 5 minutes of screentime in the entire show) who can suddenly heal him and boom! Bakugo is alive. But there's a plot twist again! It wasn't that hero who revived him, it was his drop of sweat! :bibliahh:

I was mad at first but the Bakugo vs AFO fight was one of the highlights of the arc so I don't mind it anymore

Honestly it’s so amazing. Blown away by the last episode

whoaaa the MHA slander is a lot much, cause story is absolutely popping off, when even Ochaco, Invisible Girl, and Aoyama get really good arcs and moments that make sense and line up with the story in the middle of the final arc … that’s genuinely good writing, to tie in the subplots of this ENORMOUS cast and make everything make sense with the stakes and themes so far. In terms of a shonen MHA is definitely following the Naruto path but with better execution and the whole cast gets to REALLY shine instead of being plot devices for Naruto/Sasuke (and maybe Kakashi)

And truthfully, there isn’t a shonen story right now that does an idealogical/metaphysical themes and philosophical arguments so consistent throughout the story that also has fleshed out characters arcs that make you appreciate the characters.

We were just talking about how we barely care about the JJK cast (an issue that DS also suffers). We also see how long build up for Chainsaw Man is for one moment of character development. People want a MHA to get all gory and have more death scenes, but perhaps the success of the series is that most of the cast lives enough to triumph through the perils and that resonates with the heroic them while allowing everyone an arc.

TLDR: not too much on God Here Academia

S/N: about bakugou

Spoiler

Yeah kind of an asspull I agree but he’s best lad and the pay off was worth it so I’m turning a blind eye to it.

The Boy and the Heron is for intellectuals only I fear :jonny6: Hope it wins the Oscar

Spirited Away = 1989 (peak)

Howl = reputa (angrier and edgier)

Ponyo = Lover (hey kids swimming is fun!)

The Wind Rises = folkmore (genre shift)

The Boy and the Heron = Midnights (back to quality pop, a grower!)
