Having well known songs was a huge factor of why BP set was an iconic moment. That’s why I’m saying there is no point for a Kpop act to go to Coachella if they don’t have it.

You know I know those things, thus why I used the word proper :skull:

How is appearing on American/European network TV not a "proper" crossover, as opposed to appearing at a music festival?

Before that point, K-Pop groups were not really appearing on foreign TV (except Japan) at all. Don't forget the trailblazers.

Genuinely, do you guys actually believe BP's Coachella performance is iconic to anyone other than BP stans?  :deadbanana:

I mean yeah. They were the 1st Kpop-GG to go to Coachella, the most mentioned artists for the past 2 weeks even A-celebrities such as Ariana grande were craving to meet them. They even appeared on Coachella documentary.

The crowd was dead, nothing wrong with that. They didn’t know their songs.

And I said it’s going to be hard if the demand is still not there. If you compare their Spotify and AM global stats, they are behind compared to the other 4th gen groups.

Even if they are announced earlier, It take more than having a big fan base.

Hmm yes? A lot of people became fans during this performance. It was an iconic moment for Kpop. It was the first time a Kpop gg performs there and the reception was good.

Not in general culture but in the K-pop world it undoubtedly is. It was the first real like, proper crossover moment for a K-GG. We all know about it and Coachella forever has BP association now

Like to me, if that's not an iconic performance moment in K-pop then what is? :skull:

Iconic to me is something that is remembered and referenced regularly for years. It had good reviews in 2019 and undoubtedly did a lot for them, but that doesn't instantly make it iconic.

E.g. Beyonce's Coachella performance is actually known to the GP as being great performance.

Idk BP giving a cute performance isn't just "iconic" I think yall just water down every term :deadbanana2:

Maybe in the Kpop world I guess

Are there any news/tea regarding SM's 4th gen BG? I think them and Baemon are the only ones left.

I need Lee Soo Man to give us a 4 max 5 members BG with noise free music, vocal talent & high quality visuals. Something like a SHINee/Red Velvet hybrid, and with all members adults.

The nshytizens meltdowns ALONE would be worth it :gayalipacat3:

And still doesn’t change the fact that BP first appearance at Coachella is litterally one of the biggest moment in Kpop. They even had the Locals on twitter perched for them

KTL,D4 and HYLT are wayyyyyyy more recognizable than I’m the best

basically what i was trying to say yesterday is that bpchella is definitely iconic and one of the biggest moments in terms of kpop history, but 2ne1's surprise appearance made tons of waves and caused a huge amount of conversation and they didn't even have to perform well for it to be. bp's definitely did too, and 100% broke down huge barriers so other groups could have moments like that, but i wouldn't say it's as viral. and bp songs are somewhat recognizable, like occasionally i'll hear one in public, but 2ne1 were like one of the first groups to have a viral crossover semi-hit. in the USA my science teachers made a funny dance cover to it with like parodied lyrics :skull: in the usa i think the only thing that comes close is money at this point, my two friends who aren't into kpop made a remix of it to use in their dj sets.

Then they can shelve them for all I care and use the NCT coin for the new SHINee / Taemin comebacks in early 2023:lakitu:

BP performance is still referenced by the media. And is undoubtedly an iconic performance in the Kpop world.

Kpop is still a niche. Even BTS who is the biggest group in the world don’t have a performance known by the gp

FAKE news. There are literally many fancams out there proving the contrary.

She has been gaining a lot of attention since she cut that hair a Katy Perry reverse tea. Give her some lines next cb and it’s over :gaygacat4:

And now that I rewatched that MAMA performance, let me share this iconic moment as well, I miss 2011 so much :cries:

I mean with that distinction it makes sense and I agree. "in the Kpop world"

Some of yall's posts were just giving vibes of believing it was iconic Coachella performance (Which its not) over an iconic Kpop performance (which you could say it is).
