Anyway, wonder how far along she is on the album now. Curious to know if she already picked out the lead yet.

I thought so too, it would have gotten more views than most of the pairs there. But oh well. There are some actors who have no bussiness doing it this year but I'm gonna keep it cute. Hope she is in the THR roundtable. If not maybe she doesn't have much faith on getting a nom this go round

Z has already done it twice, I’m surprised they asked her again. Elle is not there either which is surprising. Different media outlets so probably no correlation with the roundtable. Also Sydney and Zendaya.. the same show. I’m annoyed.

I fear she won't release any music before the OMITB 2/Emmys campaign era is over.

What if  this time she doesn't want to mix up her acting career with music, specially with all  these Emmys talks out here?
We all know she wants to be seen as a serious actress.

Maybe she thinks releasing a song will take away the spotlight from her acting and damage her campaign. idk

:chick3:

yeah i've started to think that too and that make me feel like her next album will have a similar rollout from Rare when it comes to dates (hopefully only that :lmao:). cuz everything OMITB related will be over for some time during this period of time so, maybe, she'll feel it's the right time for it so she can be taken seriously as an actress not mixing both. I miss new songs so much tbh i was ok with it for some time but now i really do miss new songs, but i don't think she's wrong if she waits, it makes sense for me too.

On the contrary, I think she's going to drop everything together. Only Murders will be airing new episodes throughout all of July and August, Selena + Chef is most likely on the horizon considering how long it's been since she finished filming, maybe a new Rare Beauty launch thrown in there, and it's been too long since she's been musically active for at least a new song to not be close. Add to that the fact that July will be a big month for her since she'll turn 30 and become Emmy nominated, and I think the documentary not dropping on her birthday would be such a missed opportunity - movies and TV shows on streaming platforms mostly drop on Fridays just as albums do and July 22 is a Friday so it'd be a stars aligning kind of moment to revisit her life and career so far in this way - so I'm hoping that's what's gonna happen.

I don't know if it's a right strategy to have these long breaks within releases though, generally the streaming era is all about dropping single after single in close proximity since nowadays songs can unexpectedly take off on their own without big promotion behind them. At most, labels only need to book playlist placements, but not necessarily radio deals, performance slots, etc. like it was up until a few years ago, so as long as you're dropping good songs you can keep your momentum going for a while and have several singles doing their thing simultaneously. The drought is a strategy that can work for someone like Selena though if the comeback is actually good and memorable and makes the wait worth it, but she's been dropping duds lately so I don't know what to expect. And aside from the lead, at this point in her career I feel like she needs a project with a clear direction that doesn't feel like a collection of random songs put together like her old albums and can make people more interested in the full body of work for a chance at a really successful album as opposed to some decent hits doing the heavy lifting. I don't even think she's had the time to properly focus on music recently to deliver something like that though, it's likely it's just not happening if it hasn't happened yet, especially with Rare which was supposed to be just that but she fumbled it. Not that I care all that much anyway, music is obviously becoming less and less of a priority for her as she grows older, so as long as she keeps thriving in other fields I'm more than ok with it :michael:

after this drought i think selena needs one of those 2 things to succeed on music again: or a "shook comeback" like for ex that bad ***** vibe she had going on some weeks ago on tiktok on a MV or the 100% opposite, a very artistic and personal album being released together with a documentary for example, with no lead before or stuff, just release the damn thing all together and her name + documentary buzz will do it's thing.
i really don't know what to expect when it comes to sg3. like literally i have no idea.

I love to see her thriving in acting, but, yeah, i need new music asap lol

Is June already and still nothing. Not even a droplet.

Ughh I don't want another Rare era.

Ahhhh if only

Release the doc and album on her bday week would be insane. Selena can't waste this opportunity.

I always wanted a bad b*tch full era from her, but now, i changed my mind lol.
Her brand is relatable and honest. GP love her for this. No wonder she succeeds in every field.

It would be very silly to risk that for a single or album she won't even promote.

OMITB, Selena Chef and  Rare beauty made her the people's princess. It's true, it's true lol
So yeah, i need her to serve a whole  America's sweetheart era, you know, very sweet, very charismatic and friendly.

This definitely would do more for her than any bad b*tch era  tbh.

I wouldnt be surprised if she manages to do a bad ***** era without losing this good girl public image. Cuz after all it is what she truly is most of the time, a very good soul. Imo. she can have fun with her  music and the GP understand that like its just her on a better place feeling herself u know?  Wanting new dudes, being sexual…  Why not?  i can see it happening… its a challenge tho.

i still think the personal album together with the doc is a bigger possibility. But i dont know

truth is we’re very lost about sg3 sound, we have no idea

I think she can explore a bit with her concepts/aesthetic I think the GP loves her wearing princess like dresses high fashion and suits/elegant, she needs an elegant MV something iconic fashionista maybe

Oh, you see i do think the GP would love a  sexy and fun single.  Her bikini photoshoot went viral after all, so people do miss the bad b*tch Selena :fan:
But a full era? Would it work? idk

I miss her HTM energy tho

I just want a era with  cohesive visuals tbh, and for the sg3 sound, i hope is pop/r&b.

Still no press release on Jimmy Kimmel guest tomorrow and Thursday, weird. I thought they would be on this week. Guess it might be next week with the NBA schedule which ends on the 19th.. Was expecting Emmy promo and more show promo later this month.

Lowkey same. I thought I didn't mind her focusing more on acting at all but now I'm wishing her to release music again badly lmao.

These are too on the nose to wear for promo/red carpets/what not, so me thinks she may be cooking up something music-related (although they are corny even for music tbh lol)

Feel like it's more for a magazine cover tbh. Either way, I like them lmao. Could look very stunning depending on the whole outfit and hair.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking of, a magazine cover shoot to promote a music project. Hoping it is Rolling Stone cause that **** is overdue. Excited!

Oh just saw this and I agree 100%. It’s so obvious that if they don’t do ANYTHING that day it is going to be so dumb.

Which streets exactly, the fans?

I wouldn't mind it at all, to be honest. It even makes sense: her turning 30, her birthday being on a Friday, her allegedly having a documentary on her life, this next album being her last in a while... it being self titled is perfect. Now, I don't know which would be better "Selena" or "Selena Gomez", probably the latter cause if she uses the other one people will come at her (and I kinda get it). Maybe "Marie", which is the name not a lot of people know and it would be cute with the whole documentary thing showing things that nobody knows about her life.

Someone that apparently knows an insider said the album continues the R concept. So who knows really.
