I never said that but lemme take credit because I need a win today :lakitu:

Side note: Candy Paint better come my god. Like July, as soon as it starts, let’s get that ball rolling. :giraffe:

She’s clearly filming stuff without us knowing (like the Chris Brown thing) so let’s assume the Candy Paint video is done already.

I said it and it’s true. They sent DUI to DSP’s to receive feedback on what would be supported. Someone at RCA was being safe but Candy Paint has, indeed, won.

Also, y’all did a lot today in here over this Chris Brown video. It’s here today, gone tomorrow. She’ll be just fine like Summer, Ella, Jhene, Zendaya, Brandy, HER and the others. She’s just not who everyone projected her to be, and that’s ok.

Normani being more booked for video appearances more than collabs...doesnt it make yall suspect shes really battling with some issues BTS. Its getting very suspicious

That’s not the case. Trust me. She’s turned down collabs to focus and avoid the narrative of being an artist that needs another artist. The Josh collab came out because she wanted it to and RCA approved it.

Not sure if this is a good or bad idea:rip:. If thats the case, im sure she've turned down great collabs that wouldve took her far. Thats risky for someone still making a name for themselves, but at the same time her releases always have hype and eventful

I’m confused…all this dragging and drama and the video just did 979k???

This is the problem with being the morality police on social media…nobody is perfect. People spend more time judging others instead of worrying about their own characters.

She’s…still…trending ? it’s been almost 20 hours. For a video cameo.

I’m surprised a lot of core Normani fans on twitter changed their profile pics and are tweeting about other artists only. They seem done with her.

She really might have burned a big bridge with her main demographic. Candy Paint is the only way to fix it :rip:

We’ll see what the reaction to the song is ddd. I mean they’ve fallen out with her before but some of them that I follow have gone back to defending her.

I don't want to dwell on this too much because it's becoming clearer and clearer that my stance on this differs from the majority of the regulars on here, but I've seen quite a few people call the stans' reaction to yesterday "performative", "seething" or "meltdowns", and I really think that's insensitive to the people who were sincerely disappointed that she would work with a known abuser and colourist. Like... yesterday genuinely did lower my respect for her and make me want to step back a bit from how intensely I support her. It's not just the fact that she worked with Chris (since everyone wants to play whataboutism and list all the other girls who have worked with him) - it's the fact that she's supposedly so meticulous and picky about what collabs she accepts and what she associates herself with. Like we get almost no content from her for months at a time, but this is what she promotes all over social media? She turned down a Dua collab because it didn't align with her "brand", but working with Chris apparently does? I certainly don't think the other girls who work with him should get a pass for it (and I don't stan any of them to begin with), but at least most of those girls don't have Normani's standards and basically accept any and every opportunity out there. It feels slimier when Normani is apparently so selective about who she works with, but Chris makes the cut.

I'm not going to act like she's a murderer or a domestic abuser herself. I'm still looking forward to Candy Paint and the album (if it ever comes :eli:). But my enthusiasm has definitely dipped because of this, and I think I'll always look at her a bit differently from here on out. I just wish more people on here were willing to accept that as a valid reaction instead of writing off all the negativity as "fake outrage" that'll disappear. I like ATRL Nation so much because we've always held her accountable and haven't been afraid to criticize her when it's valid, so I hope that energy can continue here.

Anyways, sorry for the essay, just wanted to get that all off my chest because it's been disheartening to read some of the comments from stans on here over the last 24ish hours.

Y’all reading into this too much. Clearly her recent singles shows she wants to do more R&B sounds. Chris still remains the youngest, most commercial R&B male vocal which explains why a lot of artists collab with him.

The real question is … where is CandyPaint? :dies:

No you’re right and you should say it!

just wanted to pop in and say that I agree with everything shelven said and I’m not liking some of the responses I’m seeing in here or on other social platforms. there’s definitely some people being performative just wanting a reason to “drag” her, but a lot of people are genuinely upset with her and we shouldn’t invalidate them and their feelings just cause some people are being weird. chloe was just getting dragged for the same thing last week (and rightfully so considering she’s on a song with not one but two abusers) people really need to just stop condoning bird behavior as a whole because it’s not cute.

Thank you for explaining this to others. Chris Brown is one of the most successful R&B males out there, him and Normani on a track together is a key for success. Everyone doing too much

Not at all lol. Isn’t this obviously strategic to y’all? They make all of their emerging female R&B acts collab with him. Her being involved with him was obviously going to cause a stir before she began to promote, that’s why she isn’t addressing the hate. It’s been proven time and time again, no one will die nor will they lose their career.

Some of you might need to check how

much you’ve projected her to be this clean, perfect, above it all figure when she’s never said she desired that and has always been vocal about her desire to work with him. She’s been telling everyone who she is but for some reason, everyone wishes to believe something else and be shocked.

Also, artists do cameos in other artists videos. Why does this suddenly make her look weak or without a career? No one said that about Usher in Naughty Girl or Tyrese in Angel Of Mine.
