I still think it could do something on Urban radio and even though I agree with everyone that it's not first single worthy, I see random tweets from people who aren't stans that seem to like the song. I found Normani posting the Candy Paint challenge the day before 1:59 was released and not acknowledging 1:59 at all very passive agressive so I could see this being a RCA forced single Agreed. She did a few obligated TikToks and was silent up til the last minute and in these interviews has talked more about Candy Paint or Dopamine as a full body of work more than she has 1:59. There's even a big difference between her presence for this and Fair. She clearly loved that song... this one, I'm not so sure about. 4
TheFlyingRobot Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Interesting theory you guys have on her being forced to release 1:59... I wonder why they would make her release it though, it seems counter-intuitive and like a strange choice, regardless of the feature, odd... Candy Paint seems to be the next release, I wonder if she has anymore other singles lined up other than that... I assume Big Boy or the song with James Blake will be the follow up to that. 1

Scorpioojay Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 I can't wait to see the other producers Normani worked with on this album. So far, we only know of Tommy brown and Starrah. I'm hoping the songs she worked with Darkchild makes it on the album if they're good and I hope that the Scott Storch songs make the album as well. 1
