TedLasso Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Also just noticed HQ still doesn't have the full album art on Apple Music, which is weird since all her other latest releases do (Joker Soundtrack, LFS, DOC)

My expectations were so incredibly low that, honestly, I wasn't disappointed at all In fact, I didn't find it boring, I didn't yawn or fall asleep, and I enjoyed every scene with my eyes wide open. The pacing and editing were even better than the first film. I found the production design, performances and plot to be more risky, human and psychological, despite some flaws. While I understand why comic fans and those who dislike musicals might hate it, I was pleasantly surprised by the social commentary and the mental health topics through the film and I wouldn't mind watching it again. The song selection could have been better, with fewer but more complete performances. The musical numbers for The Joker and Oh, When The Saints, for instance, were standouts for their staging and their symbolism with the story Score: 67 Yeah people were laughing sometimes at mine! Nobody left or yawned or booed lol I don't get those comments tbh. I really enjoyed the movie 😊🙌🏼 10
SharGaga Posted October 4 Posted October 4 The GAG if she doesn't post about the film and ends up announcing the lead instead 4 5
Darkroth Posted October 4 Posted October 4 We are not stepford wives of the 70's to consider HQ "vintage pop", it's mostly jazz except one TJK, wake up 3

Lil Mxnster Posted October 4 Posted October 4 One reason I wasn't disappointed with the film's soundtrack is that I've been familiar with these jazz/swing songs for a week now thanks to Harlequin, to be fair (My friend thought most of the songs were original and quite boring, and I had to explain to him they were 70-year-old covers ). At the same time, it's hard to imagine any other musical style fitting the dark and vintage tone of the film. I think it was the right choice, even if most of the audience doesn't know the songs. As I said, it's a bold film and that should've been appreciated more by the critics 1
Human Fly Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Okey so i finished the movie and my thoughts, i kinda liked it. it was kinda romantic to me, i liked that part of the movie. Critics: I think Gaga's dialogues should've been longer, every time she appeared she was singing. I wanted to hear more of her talking. And ending kinda seemed rushed??? I mean they could've easily cut one or two of the musical numbers and focus on the better ending. Rate: 7/10 ish. I cut 1 point because it was kinda slow 1 because of lack of gaga dialogues 1 because of kinda rushed and non sense ending. Side node: some ppl were blaming gaga for musical scenes, i heard voices of people saying is this gaga concert or smth? and yes couple people left the cinema. I hope a miracle happens and takes gaga out of this mess. In god i believe. 4
TedLasso Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) 14 minutes ago, hausofbryan said: It's way more jazz IMO than pop. Even jazz / traditional pop or something would be ok. I don't think pop fits, since literally the only song fitting that description is HM. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think AM has a "Traditional Pop" genre label. It just falls under pop. For example I listen to a lot of Dean Martin and most of his albums are either "Pop" or "Vocal Pop" and they fall in the same vein as songs like That's Life. I just feel like it's a lot easier to label a song like Good Morning or That's Life as Pop (in the sense that Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, and Frank all have albums considered pop) than it is to label When The Saints or The Joker as jazz Edited October 4 by TedLasso
BOAZ Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Bringing a bit of positivity in here, by the end of the week she'll be the 5th artist and 3rd female EVER to reach 100m peak listeners on Spotify and that's absolutely great HQ was a great album (except the first 3 tracks), we still have an apparently career-best live show to look forward to and LG7 single is coming out in the next 3 weeks! A question, since NOBODY wanted to see Joker at my local theater and I didn't felt like going alone I wonder if we already know if and where it will be available on streaming or VOD
TedLasso Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) Also I may or may not be streaming To Love Somebody on repeat. I can get past the couple of solo lines Pheonix has, and Gaga sounds amazing on the song lol Edited October 4 by TedLasso 1
Daglazzo Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I went to see the movie tonight and Spoiler I didn't like it. Gaga is in very few scenes, I can't remember much actually. Crazy to think we were expecting a lead role. Musical elements were sometimes cringy, especially the ones performed by Arthur. The plot of this movie is so wild, so many random events which are not logical. I thought he will eventually get out of the asylum but he never did, the trailer suggests they would go on and destroy the city together. Harley is ok, but with or without her this movie could be the same unfortunately. They made her so dirty, like they tried to cut her out of this movie as much as possible. I was surprised she actually sung about moondust etc, many people who saw the movie before said she didn't mention those words, yet she did. Well, overall it was very boring movie to me, as I said I only enjoyed Gaga's moments and her singing was cute. Not gonna watch this again. Waiting for lg7 2

SharGaga Posted October 4 Posted October 4 (edited) Spoiler Gaga sold her character as someone who's been through so much **** that she became quiet but the truth is her character is just some crazy fangirl that loves serial killers. The original backstory in the film turns out to be a lie and she was rich and spoilt all along. Like her character doesn't have any depth at all. Her only role was to sing and prop up Joker. This whole 'Lee was broken by society' narrative wasn't told in the movie at all. It's the first time it feels like Gaga was tricking us into thinking her character was deeper than it really was. Some of her scenes almost felt like satire. It really wasn't that deep of a character to begin with as far as the final cut goes. All Gaga scenes were already in the trailer except for the last scene on the stairs which was already spoilt by paparazzi. Her only solo scenes were 15 seconds of her stealing the TV and walking up the stairs and then taking an elevator which all felt like pointless scenes. Also her arriving at the courtroom. All of which were seen in full in the trailer. Also there's so much solo Joker singing scenes in comparison to Gaga. Edited October 4 by SharGaga 1

As if she just walked up to Todd and suggested it out of the blue when she was asked and included in the first place because Todd thought she could bring music into the movie. 4 2

Artur Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Billboard numbers are usually a bit higher than HDD, right? Do you guys think Harlequin has a chance of jumping a few more spots?
