Wow, that Sabrina Carpenter song seems rather US-reliant. Or is DWAS really that spread out globally?

The resurgence of Judas and Bloody Mary tell another side of the story. I think the GP enjoys HagGa, but they also love DarkGa.

An important distinction is the public immediately embraced her HagGa hits whereas Judas and Bloody Mary didn't get their recognition until a decade later. :rip:

I'm expecting LG7 to be polarizing which is good in terms of fresh creativity and excitement, but I'm not expecting LG7 to yield any hits bigger than DWAS at all.

3M streams of DWAS are from Philippines and Indonesia alone. Then there's Brazil and Mexico rounding out its top 5 stream contributors. And it's slowly rising in European countries. So yeah, it's global global.

A Graham Norton performance of DWAS would really help internationally, but I'm not sure it would be best for LG7 lead if they're still pushing DWAS by the end of September tbh

Honestly? It may even help. Today's music industry works so differently that it is possible (maybe even easier?) to have two smashes at the same time. Look at Sabrina, Charli and Chappell having lots of big songs right now. One smash boosts the other.

I don't think so. Wasn't the page created in the early 2000s? We also have another page that was made during that time that was a response praising Ms Germ.

I think someone proved that it was real. Facebook groups were only marketed towards college students at the time, well before the general public could create them, which would explain why that group was there years before full launch.

I think part of it was that she was just too ahead of her time for some people. There's a good chunk of people that genuinely didn't understand her because all they saw were the crazy outfits, stunts, conspiracies etc. Time has vindicated her and attitudes have changed. She has more leeway to do what she wants. Critics will be on board if she goes full weird and experimental.

Also there's something to be said about DWAS smashing in part because of the hanful of years of more middling success she had when she first started her foray into more AC territory. She had to set a lot of ground for them to fully catch on with ASIB, which Tik Tok did for her weirder music. :giraffe:

For what it's worth, I wouldn't be surprised if the album didn't have a smash hit but had really great numbers as whole. Streams could be spread across the album and pure sales could be good. She could tap into the alt, rock, and criticy audiences someone like Billie has.
