Even those who didn't like the movie admit that Gaga and Phoenix are great in it, and that the visuals are impressive. I think it's the musical aspect and the *apparently* underwhelming story that are turning some people off. But as I always remind this base, the first one is 59 on metacritic and 69% on RT. A mixed critics perception was to be expected imo 3
