Human Fly Posted September 4 Posted September 4 We cant be friends topped the Hot100 with 244 points? Thats 20 points less than Die With a Smile this week and its #6 1 1
Janet Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Supporting is just a bit odd as she's got the main billing? Lol
Miracle Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Okay the letterboxd reviews are not good for the most part. But I've seen some 5 star reviews and also some comparing them to Dancer In The Dark and that's a GREAT thing. I'm guessing 45-50 on Metacritic tho. Not even Gucci was as polarizing 1
MonsterTown Posted September 4 Posted September 4 lets thread that first review ( from ruben nepales) 1
4th Time Around Posted September 4 Posted September 4 The letterboxd reviews are mixed at worst from a very elitist site. That was to be expected and we need to wait for reviews from actual critics 1 1
Almighty Gaga Posted September 4 Posted September 4 All the top comments on the original Joker on letterboxd are 1 and 2 stars. No one takes letterboxd seriously 1 1
Lil Mxnster Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I still don't get why some of you would be trigger with a supporting actress nomination It's a nomination for acting, not music! Nobody cares whether it is leading role or not. Just take it and call it a day 2 1
OreGuy Posted September 4 Posted September 4 we need critics to support the movie, who cares about letterboxd users. They can stay unrecognized.

Miracle Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Yeah I think for the moment I'm just taking the twitter reactions from journalists / reviewers at face value and not letterbox ASIB has a 3.6 on letterboxd and Gucci a 2.9...let's see. Queer has a 73 on Metacritic with pretty pretty bad reviews on letterbox.
Young In Love Posted September 4 Posted September 4 recording breaking 22-minute standing ovation is on lock, Gaga will sing an acapella version of Applause to continue the ovations 6

Just take it and call it a day I just dont think she will go for supporting, shes top billed, also out of female actors in the movie, she will be the one with the most screen time and the one that will most fit the name of 'lead actress'
Zerocoke Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Just now, OreGuy said: we need critics to support the movie, who cares about letterboxd users. They can stay unrecognized. I wouldn't get my hopes up. Shell probably do a phenomenal job in the movie, but let's not forget the first Joker has very mixed reviews from critics. The film still went on to make +$1B at the box office and Phoenix won the oscar so FAD can still WIN.
Konril Posted September 4 Posted September 4 LMAO. Idk why y'all are elitist about Supporting Actress.
BadTaste Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Translated from a Chinese film critic's review. Spoilers alert! Rating: 2.5/5 Spoiler If the first film explored the birth of the Joker, the second film delves into his downfall. It attempts to resolve the dual identities of Arthur and Joker—indeed, the title Folie à Deux is more reflective of the struggle, the dance, the inseparable bond, and the love-hate relationship between these two personas. The narrative picks up where the first film left off, following Arthur's life after incarceration. His encounter with Lady Gaga's character, Lee, sparks a romantic connection that temporarily revives his bleak existence. However, as the film transitions into its second act with three prolonged courtroom scenes aimed at wrapping up the case from the first film, the initially measured pace becomes increasingly drawn out. At this point, the director seems to lose focus—who is Arthur truly defending? Is his motive to exonerate or reduce the sentence for Arthur, or is it to satisfy the public's expectation of Joker as the symbol of rebellion against authority? What's more disappointing is that Lady Gaga's character and storyline almost become mere accessories to Arthur in this section. She approaches Joker with her own intentions, but when she realizes Arthur's decision to shed his Joker persona, the psychological void she experiences causes her some hesitation. This could have been a dramatically powerful turning point, but because the director himself struggles to clarify the tangled relationship between Arthur's two identities, Harley Quinn's character and stance become increasingly vague and underdeveloped. There are numerous musical segments intended to express the emotions between Arthur and Lee, or rather Joker and Harley Quinn. However, the film is not a full-fledged musical from start to finish. Gaga's vocal performance is undeniably strong, and the musical scenes are impactful, though they evoke a slight sense of confusion and awkwardness, momentarily transporting the viewer back to A Star Is Born. 1

We need the existing big liddo accounts to spread lies and press for the movie.

Thin White Duke Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Who cares about shitterbox, let's wait for the actual critics before we meltdown. Spoiler btw just watched the first joker movie for the first time in preparation for this and it was a convoluted pretentious mess, so honestly, I think I'll be here for a fun time, not a quality time on this one tbh
