The new JFAD trailer just dropped, just hours after it got announced for an in-competition world premiere at Venice and she's in Paris currently rumoured to be performing at one of the Olympics ceremonies, with LG7 on the way. Exciting times ahead! Oh and idk if you've watched it already but Gar also released the C-word Ball on streaming. Go check it out if you haven't, it's really good! frankvert Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Ik we've been waiting for this movie for over 2 years now (and the LG7 induced blue balls doesn't help either) but some of y'all need to take Kacey's advice and be alright with a Slow Burn here. Warner absolutely bombed last year with their main Best Actress campaign; Margot Robbie not even getting a nom for Barbie was a disaster. I'm sure they are taking measured approaches to ensure that's not going to happen again this year with JFAD. Especially given they have Gaga, HOLLYWOOD'S MOST WANTED ENTERTAINER, starring in what's set to be the biggest DC franchise since Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. There are a number of potential factors that could hurt JFAD's award potential. Joker was very controversial, labeled as dangerous to society, and critics trashed it. Joaquin's winning narrative was a combo of being overdue, delivering an undeniable performance, and driving a non-Marvel movie to a billion dollar box office. Gaga's inclusion also raises / amplifies other variables for both herself and JFAD. Her last Best Actress campaign also resulted in a snub and was visible for many wrong reasons (overexposure, unhinged interview/press commentary, weak film, so on). Also the musical aspect of JFAD could potentially alienate the core fan base that financially carried Joker all the way to the Oscars. (Luckily critics seem to be on JFAD's side this time around but there's still a long way to go). All in all, Gaga, a singer, is undeniably the face of JFAD being a musical so I think they are dialing her down on purpose. Wouldn't be surprised if there's been conversations at Warner discussing what out of pocket shite Gaga could potentially say during the campaign nnnn. But since Warner clearly believes they a winning work of art, it seems they are going to let JFAD speak for itself in due time. I think that will reap future rewards for JFAD in SPADES. Trust, she's coming. But not just yet. 10
