Aden Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Gaga may have re-branded in the mid 2010s to appeal to a wider audience but it's really commendable how she didn't compromise her principles along the way. While she gave songs and moments like HMH to Middle America, she gave BTW The Tenth Anniversary and it's huge Pride Month celebration to her queer audience. Her angry MAGA casual listeners don't realize how outspoken she was in 2011 because they weren't tuned into her, and it's hilarious how they're beginning to find out. JFAD is definitely going to be an interesting time because I don't see DCU fanboys as being the most progressive crowd ever. 6

And the mods just let him get away with it every time. Can someone re-thread it with a correct and proper title? It's an important message that needs to be spotlighted. 3 2
Pop Art Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Quote i hid it, any Lady Gaga stan can re-thread it i did that thread to show even i was surprised by her doing this but just because of one word in title it got so out of topic that they insanely derailed my words saying I make fun of Gaga for supporting trans people etc etc and that's disgusting — goes to show i should never mention anything about Lady Gaga even in positive ways and only let her stans deal with her things. I apologize for making a thread about Lady Gaga and putting "since Born This Way" on thread title. I have to wonder if he thinks we're all stupid or if he's being serious. You can't take such a genuinely good message and add something to make the person speaking it look bad without trying to say something about them, especially given your history of doing that over and over and over again. 6 3
Leptine Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Not that thread being hidden because of the total backfire, embarrassing Hopefully the moderation will take action with that user.

Leptine Posted March 11 Posted March 11 The fake ass apology just because it backfired, as if it's the first time that they're doing that with Lady Gaga, they perfectly knew what they were doing in order to have her dragged. 1
Aden Posted March 11 Posted March 11 That user's shenanigans are exactly why I don't care for people who complain in Gaga's comments about not commenting on XYZ hot trendy social issue of the day (especially ones not relevant to her.) Just like that user weaponized transphobia to instigate a stan war, too many keyboard warriors care about virtue signaling and not discussing/doing the hard work. You can tell by the utter lack of respect for the seriousness of the matter. The way Gaga addressed the hatred against Dylan was so intelligent and eloquent. She's thought through how to approach these issues really well and we don't give her enough credit for that. 3 1
Reginald Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I saw a post from an elder-gay acquaintance who does drag, agreeing with Oli London's transphobia re: Dylan and Gaga. The cognitive dissonance it must take to reach that point Transphobic drag queen agreeing with a so-called "trans-racial" person. Suffice it to say I unfollowed

If @RideOrDie said "soon" almost a month ago, I think its safe to assume they meant it as a general statement and not meant to convey they received confirmation that new material was coming at a specific date (also the fact that no definition of the word "soon" would be longer than a few days/weeks, let alone an entire month ) Also, can't we also assume that Blade isn't winning in 2024, like, how long do we wait before we agree that we should move on from this "insider"
Pop Art Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Not one OGH hiding their backfired thread in embarrassment and another getting permabanned in the remake of said thread.
AllyGayTor Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Was @Kayseri Mantisi insinuating that BTWF is a scam? Bringing up expenses from a "Born to be Brave" event in 2014 that involved legal fees, salaries and other expenses that every other event regularly has? Considering BTWF does all the work directly themselves they would deal with a lot of expenses in order to keep the foundation running... It's funny how the foundation made for people like for you is what you're against, but the difference is these people look to better themselves instead of being unhealthily obsessed with hate and fuelled with ugliness on a daily basis. Hope you enjoyed the attention you seek for. 1 1

Hope you enjoyed the attention you seek for. YUP. The supposed controversy they were attempting to expose literally came from a former Fox News reporter, who thought launch expenses for a charitable foundation doing ground work for queer youth in NYC were somehow shocking: Quote In March 2014, gossip blogger Roger Friedman of Showbiz411, and formerly of Fox News, criticized the foundation's spending reflected in its federal tax reports. The reports noted spending of $348,000 on its Born Brave bus tour; approximately $1.5 million on fees related to web and social media, publicity, and legalities, and only $5,000 in grants to individuals and other organizations. "It’s unclear that anyone was really helped by the Born This Way foundation other than lawyers, consultants, publicists and travel agents," Friedman wrote. "We do the work," Lady Gaga wrote in response. "We do not raise money and allocate the funds to other charities for them to do the work.” “A clear understanding of the differences between a grant-making organization and one that carries out its work directly would have made this a non-story," Cynthia Germanotta added in an op-ed in the Huffington Post "We are not a grant-maker that funds the work of other charities, and were never intended to be ... [But] we are having a profound impact in just a very short period of time.” Charity Navigator in 2018 gave the charity a score of 75 out of 100, the same as its passing score for Finance and Accountability. https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/452752227 The Born This Way Foundation's score has since INCREASED to an overall score of 97% I do NOT play when it comes to Gaga's work for our community, and I won't sit around while trolls try to discredit it. viego Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Just a reminder, she did THAT with the 911 video. This is TFM's videography levels. I remember watching it for the first time (expecting to see her fighting with previous Gaga's eras lol...), dissapointed because it just made no sense. And when they flashed her on the stretcher in the middle of the video... I thought "This is lazy editting". God to watch 911 for the first time again 9 2
