Its the fact she announced the album 6 weeks in advance like there will be some sorta build up coming.

:clownny:

but isn't there still a buildup?

—announcement

—pose box sales

—single release

—special edition vinyl sales

—album cover

—cd sales

...

it may not be as quick as we want but there is a progression of information and releases.

well ya Taylor does the most... but that is not Beyoncé (since 2011, at least) so this is actually a lot considering the most any era since 4 had to precede it was an unlisted video (or in the case of The Gift, a soundtrack single release the week before).

I think given Beyoncé's more hands-off approach to marketing is in part due to a desire to allow what she DOES do to have more resonance, it's not really like she's doing nothing altogether, we're just in a between state where she's clearly not releasing anything new. imo this makes sense anyway: get people hyped, then make them wait a little with the new content you have put out for them to get REALLY hype by the time the full release occurs.

I know we're wanting more faster, but it's not Beyoncé's way anymore to overdo her promo so what we have is actually pretty good to me.

well yes, but also build up album sales while people are waiting. she's not forcing anyone to buy all those things, but has offered basially every main format but for tapes that might cater to anyone's desire to own the album in their preferred format (streaming, digital, cd, vinyl). I know those releases don't go far beyond the Hive or even the Stan-world, but I really don't see how the last 1.5 weeks of not having new information is really so bad.

I'd prefer her to focus all the marketing on the last 1.5 weeks before release than spread it out as it makes more of a moment in that one time. (I know I am assuming she will do this at all).

True. I think most of us are spoiled in seeing Bey apart of the buildup.

Yes, we have a single but unlike her past leads – we have nothing to associate this song to + we don’t have an idea of what Renaissance represents. Usually promo and pre-album singles fills in that blank. Given that she’s not a socialable person either makes it harder to depict where her head is at.

Also I blame myself cause how I took it was we were receiving a planned traditional rollout. So I expected her to capitalize on the hype each week til the album came.

ya i do that myself. like many of us it seemed just obvious that the video would be the Friday after single release and the performance that Sunday. but she clearly doesn't do the obvious and my perspective is rather than get upset about it, to just accept it and move on, and wait for the more that is SURELY coming.

I think her IG caption for the album was a pretty clear idea of what the album represents though, even if it's a bit vague. I think the overall mystery is kind of the point. It's doing a lot of auto-promotion just in the fact that if you don't know exactly what it is, you will want to know what it is even more. The same way the surprise release works because it puts urgency on consuming it right away, I think drawing it out and giving only small pieces will create a similar kind of desire to consume and understand too.

!!!

This kinda why I haven’t been so vocal on this rollout. I’m enjoying the mystery then there’s moments I’m like … alright some days went by at least throw another breadcrumb lol. Tbh she has the Hive and prob GP out here looking like crackheads. :dies:

I’m def certain something will pop off next week and hopefully the week of the release.

Girl, I can't even be frustrated any more. The album is coming, which is all I really need. I don't even care about a visual. I just want those 15 new tracks. THEY SOON COME!

And Yvette is just like Frank. Bey's keeping her around out of loyalty at this point. Release the publicist! Like she finally released Frank. HER SOON GO!!

Yeah, this rollout isn't it..

It started off with a bang, but then nothing

When I think of an album buildup, Im thinking about magazine covers (which we got), then videos, then performances, then interviews (if she doesn’t want to do a normal one, she could’ve done what she did with self titled) Either way find a way to let us in your recording and thought process.

I was not thinking about a slow release of information that shoulve been up the second the album was announced

And that’s not a Taylor Swift thing, literally every artist on the planet has cds, vinyls and merch up, sometimes even before the official announcement is made.

The Warehouse has been eating GOOD for like two years now while the Hive has been living crumb to crumb tumbleweed to tumbleweed white noise to white noise, you can't blame some for defecting

are we gonna need to do another illuminati sacrifice? it seems like the first one wasnt enough :rip:

I just expected her to at least be outside. But that's on me. :deadbanana:

Actually … now that I think about it.

She prob don’t wanna draw high attention to this album to avoid it being an anticipated project that flops or serves no longevity. A lot of artists pull many stunts just to get the most first week then fizzle out by week 3.

Since ST and Lemonade made a huge splash in the 2010s. People expect her to top those stellar projects. BMS clearly shows this album sonically will be polar opposite to her most acclaimed work ST and Lemon. Most artists that switch up their sound like this are panned/slept on albums cause its not what listeners expected. Prob why BMS was thrown like a breadcrumb to see how well POPyoncé is received in 2022.

@swissman maybe I see the bigger pic.

Also the themes/attitudes on ST and Lemon came off like she needed to make a statement to get things off her chest which makes sense for the surprise drops. Meanwhile this era its all about having fun, enjoying life which is why we are back to a rollout.
