All I wanted was a simple video for a simple single. That's it. Parkwood always does the absolute most when it could all be so simple

Parkwood or Beyonce?

I feel shes self-pleasuring herself on the mere thought of going "against the grain" or what is expected of her

Hate her for that.

Will we as a base ever be ready to admit that Deja Vu is Beyoncé's best lead single and US hive did the song dirty?

It's a tour de force but CIL has that iconicness factor that pushes it over the edge sorry

Her 10s output is so good I rarely listen to her 00s music. Sorry.

Also I'd rather have a full length album film and forego a music video if I had to choose. I'm willing to be annoyed now for payoff later.

Unless she drops the album and there's still no visual of any kind. Then we're fighting.

If anyone is interested Tom Breihan, a journalist for Stereogum has been doing a Number Ones Column on their website for the last 4 years or so. For the column her writes up a review of every single song that has gone number one of the Billboard Hot 100. He also covers the video of the song as well and has been doing so since videos became standardized in the 1980's. He posts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Well girls, he's currently in 1999 and recently did Jennifer Lopez's "If You Had My Love", which he gave a 6. The single that took IYHML from #1 was DC's "Bills, Bills, Bills", which he will drop his review of on Wednesday.

It'll be Beyoncé's first official number one in the column and he'll definitely have quite an interesting write up considering how significant and definitive her career is. I'm guessing the song will wind up with a pretty high rating (he gave No Scrubs a 9/10 and rated 702's Where My Girls At? A 10/10 as it peaked the same weeks as IYHML).

If he drags the song, I'll post his Twitter for us to go in. I'm really excited to read his first Beyoncé write up though, I've been waiting for her since I started following the column in 2018. He better not f*ck this up for me.

I hope Renaissance World Tour has professional recording.

I kinda hope he drags it just to see your reaction. 4 years is a long time to wait.

Every tour does. If you get to see it or not is another matter.

Here's a link to the series BTW

He got draggedT by the Army last year when he posted an article about how BTS relies solely on website sales and mass buying from their fanbase and how their number ones don't actually feel like number ones and cheapen the validity of the Billboard Hot 100.

Lol, I've been following his column because I've been interested in alot of other artists too. Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Whitney, TLC, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Britney etc.

It's just crazy that he's finally gotten to Beyoncé. He also posts what the #1 song was when an artist was born and I know he'll go into the Beyoncé/Diana Ross connection, considering when Beyoncé was born "Endless Love" was the #1 song in the US.

What do you guys want from single 2?

I'm hoping it's something which is a bit more contemporary and riske, but still uptemp and heavily house influenced.

I don't want another throwback and hoping we don't get disco, even if it is on the album :sorry:

oo that is interesting! thanks for sharing and do share what he says!

I think that moment in pop history (Bills, Bills, Bills replacing If You Had My Love) is a very interesting one insofar as Beyoncé's career and the impact of her/DC's music as Bills, Bills, Bills is (I think?) the first female rap-sung song #1 on the Hot 100 and the first one we might consider "pop" as well (the first, imo is Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony's The Crossroads in 1996).

It replacing Jennifer's debut single, and then Jennifer's subsequent second album's lead single the next year now following in the style of DC's rap-singing is imo no coincidence, and shows the immediate impact of their music on pop, especially from someone as originally as "produced" as Jennifer was by Tommy Mottola for pop success. He for sure had his eye on what was hot and what was coming.

And today this style is still so dominant, even if it's evolved.

Is it true that every date of the FWT was professionally filmed? I remember something about that somewhere

I was just annoyed he kept saying act “EYE” instead of act “ONE”.

yes I agree...while that amazon (was it?) writeup seemed to suggest the album would have many iconic samples on it, I hope the next one(s) are a bit less direct (I know its not even a direct sample on BMS but still) and a bit more transformative like the samples used in Lemonade were. I want to hear her stamp on the genre, not JUST her participation in it. But I'll prob be happy either way.

i'm not sure that it's true (like I don't a source) but I can see it being that way....it's already very intricately captured for the screens, with her art directors seeming to really plan out which shots were needed for the visual effects that were added to it, and I imagine she captured it all (or most of it) in the way she had so many clips to use for TMCSWT''s X10 videos.

Uptempo with actual singing and no explicit lyrics (like countdown) :campfire:

Depends on when the second single drop. If it drops before the album, keep it uptempo but a different attitude from BMS.

If it drops after the album drop, she should make whatever song gets the best reception the single. Maybe even capitalize on it and do a remix with a streaming monster.

Since we haven't gotten a BMS video yet I have to assume the second single is a bit away.

I wonder why she announced the album a whole 6 weeks in advance this time?
