I agree with Video Phone...next is 7/11...that song doesn't even exist to me.

A lot of people hate the fact that it's a rehash of CIL and the song itself was super polarising upon release, but I agree. The controversy over the MV was so ridiculous and blown out of proportion. Still pisses me off.

I really love the classic grungy folk vibe on this side. Not even gonna acknowledge the deluxe's sequencing because it's a complete disaster. Only the standard makes sense concept wise.

Smash Into You is the pinnacle of IASF and the I Am… side definitely carries the album, I feel every song except That’s Why Your Boring ?and but SF side still goes but bops don’t stick like a solid ballad, for me anyway.

Random, but I was reading an Orville Peck interview and came across this. Cool that he inspired Ivy Park Rodeo. I love how clued in she is to culture and even not so big artists.

 

I wonder if she would release an album in chapters the way he did (and other artists.) For example, if the album is 16 songs she can release four at a time and maybe those four are episode one of a Netflix miniseries.

I agree with this. And I love Ego especially the runs/falsetto she does in the bridge with the piano. Classic Bey.

I'm imagining, its a hot friday in June and then she makes an instagram post and everyone is rushing to her website and then there's a video to a feel-good-summer-jam. 

I can imagine that it will be similiar to what she did during 2016, first release a single and then release the album months later, just like she did with Formation. Or she does a complete surprise drop again.

I do actually quite like it, the repetition and structure of the song is kinda jarring though, I feel like it goes on forever.

You breakin' my focus boy, you cute and you ballin' >>> without Diva or Video Phone IASF would not have been the same - but Smash Into You, Disappear and Sweet Dreams are my trinity.

 

I feel like if Smash Into You was the 1st single with Single Ladies the kick-off of the era could have been bigger. Also if Stop Sign  was on B'Day and released as the last single it could have been the perfect transition to the IASF era IMO

Sasha Fierce is OK : it has SL (one of her most experimental /weird songs ever), Diva, Sweet Dreams and Ego. All great songs. VP is a dud and Radio is an awful song that was a guilty pleasure but aged badly. That's 4/6. And let's not forget the platinum edition has Why Don't You Love Me. 

 

The only truly great song on I Am... is Disappear. And yes, what a song!!! But the rest are either duds, mids or snooze fests that could appear in a Céline Dion's record. Ave Maria is a great vocal performance though.
