I think Lemons and Renny perfectly represent the two sides of acclaim an album can have. Lemons is a master class in storytelling and its visual aspect further ties the motifs the album has along with providing historical references to further solidify the symbolism and activism she wanted to tell with the album.

And then you have Renny, which inherently does not have a particular story, her main goal was escapism, letting go, celebrating which the album does phenomenally. It's a blend of different genres and sounds and despite each song having such vastly different sounds and lyrical content, they all manage to transition into one another so that it provides you with a sonic-cinema experience. It's a continued evolution of Bey breaking her own boundaries and elevating herself as an artist.

To me, Lemon and Renny are the pinnacle of her art. We shall see with act iii though:gaycat5:

If I had to choose which album best personally represents Beyonce however, that would be a toss up between ST and 4

does it? didn't they last "confirm" she'd announce the tour on 1/9?

i found out through a friend of a friend that shes planning a one month residency at the crypto arena so my theory for now is that shes doing mini residencies in the US

I don't know how I'd feel about her downgrading to an arena. I call bs. unless she's using an interesting venue (like The Sphere) I don't really see why she wouldn't want to do 5 stadium shows instead of 20 arena gigs. it's not like arenas are super intimate venues, so I think she'd rather go grand. but what do I know.

Since we're discussing the past again, because there's nothing else to do, I think it's interesting that some artist get better with time and others just don't.

For example with my other fave Gaga her creative peak was mainly in the beginning of her career. But with Beyoncé it's the complete opposite, because she really gets beach each era and always tries to level up (and rarely fails to do it). I'm not talking about eras, but more about the music itself. Her best output just came out.

Renaissance > Cowboy > Lemonade > ST > 4 > BDAY > ISAF > DIL

She really gets better every album and it's really fun to experience that and I can't wait for the final act.

That's not really a smoking gun considering the fires were going on 1/9 as well.  Could've thrown the entire plan to the wind early on

Don't you think it's a little bit crazy to call AHAP her best song?

Because you would be 100% right

A potentially controversial opinion about Beyoncé (2013)

  Hide contents

It's a great album but I don't really like Pretty Hurts, and then No Angel, Jealous, Superpower (especially this one) and Heaven don't quite live up to the potential they had in my opinion. But the rest is fantastic and little me was obsessed with the sonic musical direction and the colourful visuals. I also adore Blue which I rarely see praised.

Pretty Hurts is one of her top 10 songs ... pure perfection.

Non-CC songs that need a place on the next tour setlist:

  • My House
  • Sorry and 6 Inch (need to be performed with Jolene and Daughter bc whew the storytelling potential)
  • Irreplaceable
  • Break My Soul
  • Suga Mama
  • 7/11 (goes nicely next to Tyrant)
  • America Has A Problem
  • Freedom
  • Partition
  • Single Ladies
  • Cuff It
  • Deja Vu
  • Halo (don't shoot me :dancehall: she needs to give something to the locals)

Flaws And All can stay too. :sorry:

Controversial opinion possibly, but I lowkey find End of Time grating.

It sounds pretty elementary, especially with the added context of songs like MOVE, Already, Water, My Power, and even Grown Woman. A post Black Parade/MY HOUSE Bey would approach that song entirely differently, and for that reason it's hard to revisit.

It's undercooked. I appreciate the effort and the overall direction but yeah it comes out short. Didn't deserve the Super Bowl slot.

She had to put some duds at the end to balance out the sheer excellence of the other 12 tracks. how generous of her to keep both of them at the end! :heart2:

Elevator music doesn't come with such complex vocal arrangements, please be for real :biblionny:

It took her AGES, more than ten years since 4, to produce something just as compelling.

Ten years? ST was far more compelling than 4. 4 is great for live performances and translates better live than ST but ST was a far better album than 4, and it had different genres and similar message as 4 (love, feminism, and life/legacy) but it flowed better.  4 gives cruise ship or cookout music and it's great and definitely top tier but she wasn't really saying nothing on that album like she was with B'Day, Lemonade, or ST where she really had something to SAY

Can anybody who enjoys Spaghetti explain why they like it? Or maybe explain why it took them until 2024 to realise genres can be diverse?

Renaissance > Self Titled > B'Day (Standard) > 4flop > Cowboy Carter > Lemonade > Dangerously In Love > I Am... Unlistendable.

The way the songs  tell one story in chronological order. This needs to be a Broadway one woman show.

And I've always been the type to take care of mine
I know just what I'm doing, don't you worry it's cool
And everything is steady, got you on my taxes already
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I promise I won't let no bills get behind
'Cause every touch, every kiss, and hug
You best believe it'll be on time

You need a real woman in your life (that's a good look)
Taking care, home and still fly (that's a good look)
I can help you build up your account (that's a good look)
Better yet a hood look, believe me (ladies that's a good look)

Audemars Piguet watch, dimples in ya necktie
Hermès briefcase, Cartier tie clips
Silk-lined blazers, diamond creamed facialsVvs cuff-links, six-star pent suites

She gon' be rockin' chinchilla coats
If I let you go Getting the house off the coast If I let you go. She gon' take everything I own if I let you go (no)
I can't let you go, Damn, if I let you go
She gon' rock them VVS stones
If I let you go— in the 'bach or the Rolls
If I let you go  She gon' profit everything I taught If I let you go (no)
I can't let you go (oh)
Damn, if I let you go (no)

Let's go little kitty cat
He don't want no mo'
Let's go little kitty cat
Quite frankly; no more givin' it, I'm not Feelin it

Cause when he act wrong that's when you put it on. Get him uptight this is your song ..
hold out your back, time to impress pull out your freakum dress

Give it, give it, give it to mama. Give it. Give it to mama. For some strange reason, you're done pleasin me like it's okay.
Ain't no problem, you can go. I can find somebody  else. you're holding up traffic, green means go!

To the left, to the left.
