Not sure why you guys are now expecting GRAMMYs performance and more promo. This performance is exactly in line with her "I'm not performing unless I'm getting paid" mantra. The NFL and especially Netflix are desperate to turn the Christmas Day games into the 2nd most important TV event of the year (Super Bowl being #1). She was def paid big bucks for this.

Netflix paid but NFL are known to not pay anyone for performances, it's their business model and they wont change it for anyone. They know the NFL comes with a huge amount of viewers and rightfully so with the superbowl being the most viewed sporting event in North America so that combined with the big Netflix subscription, they want to create a new cultural movement and Beyoncé is the right person to kick it off but Netflix are definitely the ones willing to spend the money, the NFL will provide the strong loyal fanbase that will make a difference. I hope it all goes well, because this is about to take Bey's popularity into a new level, this could be Beychella X2, especially when fans worldwide will have access to this live moment at the same time.

NFL has Jay connection.

Netflix has a contract she has to fulfill.

I wonder if she even wanted to do this or is just doing something lol.

Another random but exciting thing to consider is it should be sunset/night time by the time she performs if the game starts at 430pm.  Strike a match and light up this juke joint confirmed!

Looks like it will be mostly 70s and early 80s inspired. Funk, rock and soul vibes. Main possible references include Betty Davis, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Parliament, Funkadelic and Marvin Gaye. Other less possible referents are Frankie Beverly, The Jacksons/Jackson V, The Isley Brothers, and other Motown or Slax acts from the era.

She has been preparing for something like this since the Etta James movie and i feel like she is finally ready. You didn't mention Elvis but i feel this is a sound she is about to run with with Act III. Remember Elvis was accused heavily of stealing most of black artists' work and making it more popular. Bey is all about claiming back stuff so i feel like Beatles/Elvis, she is going to go further to claim back some of their sound they took from black folks. She hinted at that with Blackbirds and Yaya. Then she adds her own Prince, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder style to all of it. I feel like act III is definitely going to be my favorite one. I want a song similar to  I'd rather go blind from Etta James. She killed that thing!

Beyoncé doesn't do stuff just cause. I think because of her connections with both the nfl and Netflix, this is an opportunity to have a big performance akin to another Super Bowl halftime show, and probably get a large payday from it. She gets money and the opportunity to perform cc for the first time

Also she started this era during the Superbowl at the beginning of the year so it's only right to finish it this way again with the Superbowl. Netflix is a non brainer since they have a deal and Netflix is a damn machine! Beyoncé respects power and no streaming service is more powerful than Netflix right now. Period. I love when she teams up with such giants. Beyoncé, NFL and Netflix, this is insanity!

My only real rationale is that as far as promo goes, this is a pretty new endeavor.

Christmas has historically been an NBA holiday rather than an NFL holiday, and Netflix's last efforts to livestream events (Love Is Blind, Mike Tyson Fight) were catastrophic.

If Bey is planning on announcing either a tour or some other venture at the game, I could see her booking the Grammys as a contingency plan in case something fails logistically.

Be serious for a second. She's not doing grammys and is getting a good payday off this!

She's the biggest name Netflix and NFL could've hoped for to make this into a "thing". And remember that streaming services are heavily investing in and fighting each other (+ cable) to establish themselves in the sports and live streaming game. And with Prime Video already dominating football in Europe, Netflix is EAGER to gain ground. Bey surely cut a fat check, saw it as a great opportunity to promote and announce whatever a next, got favorable conditions for logistics etc (thanks to jay) and so we have this.

So exciting tho omg

The Mike Tyson fight brought them 60M viewers. This is not a failure lol and right after the live event, they put up the whole thing to view again and it will remain on Netflix forever so whatever mistakes made during the live, post production will correct and people will get to rewatch the whole thing again right away. That's where Jesse Collins comes in. He has become a pro at this, he corrects not only mistakes live as they happen, he makes sure any damn thing that goes wrong never appear again in the post production! RocNation and Applemusic received backlash from this during the last Superbowl because some wanted to rewatch Alicia Keys mess up her singing for whatever reason but they never got the chance to lol.

I feel like you and I both know that when I said the Love Is Blind reunion and Mike Tyson fights were "catastrophic" for Netflix, I wasn't referring to ratings.

I get what you are saying but remember Netflix is huge and growing but they are not flawless. They are a streaming service and the thing is live. They cannot predict the viewership and glitches WILL happen the higher the viewership gets. I'm sure Parkwood and Jesse Collins will do their best to overcome what the Tyson fight struggled with, since it's not the same people producing it but we must accept that this is not live TV which will always be superior with live events.

I don't think any of this is incongruent with my suspicion/belief that Bey probably has thought of alternatives if this event doesn't go as planned.
