Yeah the live versions are cute but OG just HITS and Jay's verse and contribution is SO underrated. Also I played around with my Spotify settings to make the bass and clarity hit. I still struggle to sing along to Jay's verse after all these years. It's not an easy rap to rap along to at all. It's so intelligently done. Edited Sunday at 09:50 PM by BGKC

This album is really cemented in history on so many levels! First Black Female Country #1 Album First Black Female Country #1 Single First #1 Hot 100 By A Black Female Country Song Most Grammy Nominated Album of All Time I think something we've sort of glossed over when it comes to the country resurgence is how it's focused largely around men who make "bro country" like M- Wallen and Z- Bryan, P- Malone etc. Music that frat bros find "real" and "deep" Before "Texas Hold Em," the last woman to have a multi-week Hot 100 leader with a (real) country song was a long time ago. I can't even recall who it would be when you leave the faux-country, Max Martin-produced Swedish pop factory song "We Are Never Getting Back Together" out of the equation. 2
SmittenCake Posted Monday at 12:52 AM Posted Monday at 12:52 AM And to think it was Black social media pages making fun of her looks when she was only just a BABY. Still no apologies from those media outlets and internet personalities. She looks so stunning. As she continues to blossom, she looks more and more like Bey. 7

R.E.M. Posted Monday at 01:32 AM Posted Monday at 01:32 AM I absolutely loathe country music and even I can admit Cowboy Carter is a pretty excellent album 2
Jon Snow Posted Monday at 01:42 AM Posted Monday at 01:42 AM RENAISSANCE will forever be special since every track got elevated live. if there was a COWBOY CARTER tour we would look completely differently on those songs also when visuals come out (and if there are visuals for every song), they would elevate what we know even more. damn, i wish it could come sooner. maybe next year
king_queen Posted Monday at 02:20 AM Posted Monday at 02:20 AM Virgos Groove was NOT elevated live Anyways, I think 16C is finally starting to get the attention it has always deserved 5
FLAallday Posted Monday at 02:32 AM Posted Monday at 02:32 AM I want to see 16C win that Grammy bad tbh. I've been kinda shifting to the tinfoil hat hive dreaming of a grammy medley performance. She obviously doesn't need to use them as a promo platform especially with their declined ratings(although a Beyonce performance announcement is a guarantee lift in viewership at least compared to 2024), but man just one televised performance of a few of the tracks really feels like it would be a 2 fold effect in boosting hype around a potential tour and more specifically should she win AOTY(not holding my breath) would help showcase the excellence of Cowboy Carter upon that potential win. sorry yall also just home high and revisiting the album for the first time in full in a whileeee and I'm feeling things 3

I wanted to get II HANDS tattooed on one calf and II HEAVEN on the other when the album came out. But judging basé, CC is in trouble on that ranking.

I'm excited to see what Renaissance songs performed live would be like post-knee injury, because while the tour was amazing a lot of the songs on the album were underserviced Edited Monday at 09:30 AM by alien superstore 2

It definitely raised the profile of the album to a larger audience but...I remember going to the most magical queer club nights in 2022 where they played the whole thing top to bottom with everyone screaming along. That album was so special and hit its target demo perfectly. CC is also special, and you can't not respect it, but as a young queer I have struggled to relate to a lot of its themes (marriage, motherhood, 'putting the babies to bed' and having a freak out, etc.). That being said, it hits particularly hard in the wake of Trumps election and even her album artwork feels more pertinent. I do wonder if the grim reality of a second Trump term will make some of the album's themes more accessible for the Hive.

Shelter Posted Monday at 10:48 AM Posted Monday at 10:48 AM Halo was a better closer than SR even though She always closed with it. Texas should be the tour closer if CC is getting a tour.
