ShouldersSideways Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 I respect her for putting herself out there when she could've given them permission to use Freedom and called it a day. 8 1
Burn Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Bodyguard sounds better than EVER. Since that visual dropped I can't get enough of it. Since Renaissance we've enjoyed the music like she wanted us to, and I thought we got all we can out of it, but after that lil video damn it's truly given the song a new lease of life to me. Which just makes me think when/if the visuals drops it will make me fall even deeper in love with these albums. 3

Iyanla, Fix Me Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Something about Kamala losing feels like Beyonce losing AOTY 4x in one night. Like my life will move on but this will be felt for generations. 9

I wonder if the EMA version cut the "Sweet Dreams Are Made of This" portion because it didn't get cleared for TV, hence why the EMA performance is so short (and she hasn't been back since)? 1 1

Kamala's stance stood for all the things that Beyonce's brand stands for (women's rights, equality for POC, feminism, progressive views, police reform) and, in fact, if Bey did not speak up it would literally be such a bad look. I get yall want Beyonce to prioritize her music, but this is wayyy more important than an album or chart position. Edited November 6, 2024 by Iaintsorry 11

The delivery on that song is supreme. Every single word and verse is *chefs kiss*. There are so many subtleties to how she enunciates on the song, the pauses, the way she lets her breath loose (like on the first verse - but never to my senses). And those lyricssss I LOVE a hopelessly in love song. And by the time she is going all out singing its just so good. Its a grower but one of my fav bey songs now. we fight and then we make amends, arrest me and read me my rights, I plan to steal your heart AGAIN ON STATURDAY AND SUNDAY NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT I thought I was alone in this fight. Riverdance is truly special! 5

You can't speak about political issues in your music to make it meaningful or deep and then stay silent when your platform can actually be useful. 4 1

Of all elections, not endorsing this one would be the worst move coming off of recent controversies and not to mention, it would put everything she's stood for in her whole career into question. Meaningless in that the average voter clearly doesn't care what rich celebrities have to say. Speaking up =/= getting on a stage once every 4 years. It comes off disingenuous. The only reason it would look bad if she remained silent is BECAUSE of the value we, imo, mistakenly put in celebrity endorsements. Anybody who cares what Beyoncé has to say about politics already knows what she stands for. Voters do not care. Disagree all you want, but well yeah

Disagree all you want, but well yeah But she is and always has been political in her music and endevours alike: From Independent Woman to Beygood, to Run The World, to singing for Obama multiple times, to Move Your Body in cooperation with Michelle Obama, to Beychella, to Freedom and Formation, to bailing out protesters during the BLM movement. Do your research on Bey, honey. Shes doing more than most and is anything but phony. Would be lovely if people would invest 10% of the time they use to hate on Bey on others. Trust, it would do WONDERS 1

By meaningless endorsements I was referring to the performative rallies/concerts with all those "important" celebrities. And I just have to clarify I am not hating on Beyoncé at all, I'm sure they asked and she obliged. My point is they never should have reached out to her in the first place. I am criticizing this particular Democratic campaign strategy. Or are y'all saying it was effective?

In fact, KAMALA (A black woman) was not the one running, i do not think she would have gotten involved. Kamala does indeed represent everything beyonce stands for, especially the aftermath of the supreme court overturning Roe v Wade. But what i also like was that she was not heavily involved, she did not put out a forceful statement like Taylor did, which was more directed at trump. She did just enough without being overbearing and being preachy
