Just a bi-weekly drop-in to express how not serious our fave is lol.

Must preface it by saying, she almost certainly is up to "something". She a) always is and b) there have been way too many times that have seen her color in weird absences with ish that makes us go "oh, so this is what she's been working on".

I'm too seasoned and not new to her shenanigans to be "surprised" by these blocks of nothingness. She has committed to and doubled down on the fact that her eras now are essentially comprised of:

* 1 -2 hit singles

* strong first-week sales (300k+)

* a tour / live "thing"

* a visual component (pending)

....nothing more, nothing less. It's all just dressed up in different marketing.

That said, it's both the literally nothingness she's filling the current frame with as well as the crumbs she's choosing that are MOST annoying this time compared to Rennie.

Been Country is a joke, the merch push feels almost spammy, and the vinyl release was a relative non-event (when it could have been used as a springboard into more or to give us more, with bonus tracks, extended versions etc).

Most annoying is the reality that when the "visuals" finally arrive, one of two scenarios will be the case:

1) it will be amazing and rightfully praised, but as a standalone Beyonce "thing" that doesn't significantly benefit the music at its center.

Too much time has passed for the gworls to catapult a 2-3-year-old Rennie back up the charts or make hits out of any of its once-potential-filled songs. Same goes for Cowboy Carter. Which leads me to...

2) It arrives as a conclusion, tying together glue alongside Act III. With that album benefitting most and the others being necessary to the overall concept but ultimately functioning as sacrificial lambs.

IMO, much as I believe in our girl's ability to spin the situation (which she for sure will and spin it well), I cannot be convinced that she hasn't been winging everything since whatever her original plans for the Rennie visuals fell through. It's been giving a skrrrrong "making it up as we go along" tea lol.

And, as said above, it's also giving "this is the upper limit of what I'm willing to give per-era, so they gonna have to wait"

I don't think this applies anymore. As long as it's good or has viral moments, the songs can make a comeback.

Like Running up the hill, cruel summer, bloody mary etc

Yes and no.

It's "technically" possible and I really wish that for Bey, especially if it's a killer combo of a) the song being deserving (which pretty much all of Rennie is) and b) the video being a real moment-moment.

The reality, though, is that the examples you mention are rarities. It's by no means a given.

Even within those picks, there are stark differences. Taylor's bloomed into an actual smash (her fans get behind, lap up, and seem to propel her everything), whereas Gaga was a "cute lil moment" for the internet Monsters. There wasn't the type of huge lift it "could" have been. It's all relative, largely depends on luck, and to a degree how much the artist, their team, and their base are willing to go all-out. Much like our fave, the Hive as a collective tends to be quite....laid back lol.

Back when Renaissance was announced I really thought they would capitalize on the unique position she's in for a black woman in her 40s by going full out on hit single promo beyond the lead. BMS had a strong initial push, preorder were up etc. It was the same this year for Texas and CC. But then Alien Superstar's momentum was downright cut off by the label, if Cuff It had no viral dance I'm sure we would've never got a 2nd single, and was IIMW even a single atp? Cause it made no noise. And the same thing's gonna happen when act III gets announced in 2 years at the World Cup opening ceremony. It's frustrating!

I can't help but think she will do one event for Kamala, do you think andrew will be leaving parkwood over it? Or will he still work on it despite morals

:suburban:

And who would Miss Andrew like to be the Democratic nominee? :coffee2:

It's literally all over the news, MSNBC, CNN, and FOX.  It's being discussed everywhere, and is now heavily linked to Kamala's campaign, and it's the most critically acclaimed pop album this year with a 95 score with 24 reviews.

You be serious

She will have to do something for the election. She got too involved with Clinton just because she was a woman and it would look performative (which it was) if she did nothing for a black woman.

I felt the same, and her song is the official campaign track for Kamala.  I'm curious if she'll perform at the DNC - I can only imagine Kamala's team is working that up, along with Taylor and probably Charli/Chappell

it likely won't win (and wouldn't be my personal pick though i would definitely nominate it), but you're clearly out of touch. BRAT is literally the most acclaimed album of the year and having a cultural moment to the point of being used in the presumptive democratic nominee's campaign - the impact goes far beyond "atrl gay teens." It's managed to sustain this hype since it dropped back in early June (honestly since 360 dropped a month earlier, but I'll concede that at first that was limited to queer circles)

Cowboy Carter could've had a longer mark on the public consciousness had it not been abandoned like a box of kittens left by the side of the road

I'm very upset that Beyonce made FLAMENCO and DESERT EAGLE so short. :shakeno: She needs to call Solange for the remix of 'Desert Eagle' since she's a stan and we can kill about 4 birds with one song.

I want to have hope for AOTY but I don't see it happening. However, the fact that CC isn't performing as well as RENAISSANCE and doesn't have a tour it could work in her favor. The committee only has the music to go off of, nothing else.

Now if her dumbass shows up and they play on her face again, that's on her. She really needs to stop going but I understand why she does it.

If Caca Carter is nominated, brat should also be. Have you even listened to it? It's extremely relatable

It's voted by her peers not a committee

But they're still a committee nonetheless. A group of people appointed to carry out a specific function. :deadbanana2:
