We did. Apparently she was there for a book or something, but it was super coincidental Also, Andrew was just at a famous area for filming western style stuff, in Pioneertown. I'm not sure that anyone else caught it, I just recognized it from visiting. 1 1
cloudbusting Posted April 21 Posted April 21 the harmonized "look at that horse" kinda one of the best little moments on CC huh 3

They took the time to understand context around the genre blending aspect of the album & they enjoyed it. But I cringed when they'd make references to Taylor through out. They somehow brought up Taylor during Blackbird. When Beyonce said "look what you made me do" in Daughter they mentioned that as well. Some delusional swiftie also commented that she thinks that line was a shout out to Taylor. And like I said in another thread they (Swifties) are laser focused on the lyrics. Analyzing them through Genius. They talked throughout the entire operatic vocals of Daughter, weren't shook by vocal layering, or any moments where Beyonce really shined with her voice. That's what separates Swifties/DelRayers from other music listeners. I let Beyonce's music take me for a ride. Yes I listen to the lyrics especially when I know she's talking to us through her lyrics (American Requiem, Formation) but I know it's not always that deep. Sometimes it's just music meant to be fun not picked apart and analyzed. That's why she said in her Grammys speech "I made this album for people to dance" that's it lol. Which takes me to my last point. There are waaaaaaaay too many people preaching their lyrical theories as facts. Someone commented "Did you know she wrote II Most Wanted for her mother in law who's a lesbian?". Like HUH Do not put swifties and del Rey fans in the same group. They're not even close to similar. Fans or artist. 4
Starshine Posted April 21 Posted April 21 It feels natural to run through Cowboy Carter in its entirely now and it isn't a long as I thought. I also have been revisiting Lemonade. Beyoncé sweetie I am so sorry, lemme put Lemonade back to top 3 in your discography for 6 Inch D alone. That was her last FUN era and I'm gonna have to put some respect on the precursor to the trilogy. The genre switches and some themes would not have happened without it.

Yes, Lana's main talent is her poetry (actual real poetry, not whatever the **** Taylor was trying to do with TPD), but she also heavily focuses on intricate production, vocals, melodies, and harmonies. Idk how familiar you are with Lana, but as a Beyonce fan I know you know what good music is and Lana doesn't disappoint: Taylor's talent is literally just story telling with easter eggs, swifties love discovering these. She's not really a musician, or a vocalist, a dancer, performer, or poet. The reason why she fumbled so hard with this album was because she probably got too inspired by Lana and tried her hardest with lyricism only to come off as cringe most of the time. The music itself was also not it, I know people blame Jack for it, but damn its her album. It's her responsibly to make sure the music is vibrant and rich. I guess you can only do so much when all you can do with your voice is talk-sing. 3

The comparison to the MCU is more than warranted. Big sellers, record breakers, which end up overproducing to the point where the actual output starts to pale to levels that are beyond mediocre.

Even her most commercial albums, Born to Die and Ultraviolence are still very good. Her vocals are understated but it doesn't mean she can't sing. She's very good vocally. 1
MrPiggyMoka Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Sorry don't want to pollute this base with other artist but I almost fell asleep listening to the other girl new alberm… so damn boring Jesus Christ. Thank you Beyoncé for actually growing as an artist and trying new things AND actually have talent You don't have to promote if you don't want to, just keep on releasing masterpieces like you always do and go on a tour when you feel like it and I'm good, im more than happy. 3
FLAallday Posted April 21 Posted April 21 14 hours ago, Fleahive said: I officially watched all the big youtube reaction videos. The best was surprisingly by the couple I have never seen before. Bopthepoppop. People were dragging in the top comments because they didn't dive into taboo topics hinted in American Requiem and other songs but besides that the wife had AMAZING lyrical analysis. She had zero context on this album or Beyonce's personal life but she immediately understood the meaning to every song in ways that I would've never put together. I was sadly underwhelmed by Turning The Tables father and son duo. It just didn't give what it gave in the past. I gave AJay a click and I'm glad I did. I had her channel blocked but when I saw she had a good reaction I gave her a chance. As predicted she cried and danced. Although she didn't like YaYa and Riverdance which was odd but ok. Every reactor immediately liked Bodyguard within 5 seconds of pressing play. Everyone loved II Most Wanted, Protector, YaYa (besides Ajay), and of course American Requiem. Just For Fun also surprisingly was well received compared to fan reactions. I just watched the turning the tables one yesterday, I subscribed for the full reaction on Patreon but I generally love their reactions. The best parts were protector and ii most wanted when the dad got super emotional, specifically on 2MW. I also really loved the bop the pop one too, but once mama landed that "the giving tree" connection she couldn't get past it the rest of the video.
Fleahive Posted April 21 Posted April 21 lol I told y'all this would happen. I'm always right. The Hive is buzzing and yes the top comments under his instagram post for Bey and for that lady are drastically different.
Draper. Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Can we stop with the conspiracy theories? How about Post gets along better with Taylor and that's it? What's wrong with that? 2

I know people complain about Jack's output with several of the girls, but it feels weird to me when people act like his production is independent of an artist's input and own work. Like, these are not helpless little label puppets being forced to use a certain producer… the girls have co-production credits so they deserve to share part of the blame if the fans are tired (unless they wanna start applying their usual incorrect drags of "Bey steals credits!!!!11!" to their own faves). Plus like, you (general you) cant tell me that songs like Los Ageless, Solar Power, Anti-Hero, and A&W all sound the same - clearly there's additional unique input in their creation that's suited to whatever project they're on. When things are done well (or do well commercially), everyone wants the praise aimed at their fave, but when there are complaints it's always someone else's fault. besides, the Bleachers from this year is mostly good, so Jack can't be totally out of steam maybe complaint hive are on to something progressive - us dragging Bey just shows that she is indeed calling the shots
sillycilla Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Speaking of calling the shots. The way she and Parkwood handle singles and longevity is atrocious. Is part of why AOTY stays out of reach. Outside of the first week they don't do anything else until a month before the Grammys.

sillycilla Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Anyways, my astute understanding of singles was once again proven right when I said bodyguard or Levi jeans should have been pushed as the next single not 2 most simple ballad.
