Destiny Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 So I’m bored and just watched Justin Timberlake’s Hot Ones interview on YouTube and he was asked to rank his albums… a lot of artists are always asked that question, especially rap artists (even the interviewer made a reference to Jay Z ranking his albums prior to asking JT to rank his) and it got me thinking… how would Beyoncé even rank her albums, if she could? What would she take into consideration when ranking? I feel like she would just dodge the question or speak only of the album that means most to her in comparison to the others. nnnn

Thats the least she can do to pay us back for mentally torturing us yes we definitely need that. It’s difficult to have a good album when you have way too many songs… but Kendrick has done it and I believe she can too

Yes they are. Those numbers are in the same ballpark as TPAB and MADD CITY. DAMN was like 600k, Kendrick never had a 1 mill week.
*-ChriZ-* Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 Cant we leave the estimation for AFTER she released B7?
Crayzik Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 I love to see how she was so focused at such a young age. If she plays her cards right she can have a huge era for B7
SoJro101 Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 Lol at y’all low balling Bey. One thing that can’t be accounted for are the moments she makes around her releases. There’s no way she’s doing under 300k - physicals or not. With physicals she’s over 400k. Her first solo album in 6-7 years, supported by what will likely be her largest tour ever? C’mon y’all. I know we’ve been living in a world of side projects, but Bey not fumbling her comeback. 150k is disrespectful.

This, if she releases anything underwhelming or that doesn't appeal to the gp in the grand scheme of things (like The Gift and EIL), she is doing less than 300K. I for one think she will do minimum 350K if she is serious about the era, if not then who knows?
Rafael Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 People so confident she'll do more than 300k. I think anything over 150k is good at this point. We really don't know and she really did damage her streaming power. Vinyls are where the money is at for the first week.
family.guy123 Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 Spirit was released at the same time as The Lion King, no? Soundtrack singles always see a boost once the movie opens. I wouldn't get too cocky yet lol...
Cbreezy Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 I see a lot of valid points on both sides of the sales debate. The reality is that the market HAS changed. Adele and Kendrick are great examples. They are equally as big as they were with their last projects and their current projects are selling roughly half first week. It's just the reality of the streaming-led market. So, we DO need to brace ourselves for a dip of some sort. A safe bet IMO would be #1 with 200-250k at a bare minimum. A mix of her name, the hype, and the fact she'll have physicals (which favors her older audience and is something all those lil side projects didn't) makes that all but certain. I could see 300k - way higher than that if all went perfectly. Meaning a hit streaming single, totally playing the game with physicals (multiple covers, vinyls, cassettes, Target etc special editions), Netflix promoting the hell out of the visual album, and actual...promo. Like TV specials, guerrilla marketing, and one or two actual interviews. I've back and forthed about doing this as I seem to be one of the few who gets and almost likes how elusive she is. But we've seen the downside of that (aka people don't know you have product out).
HausofArtpopII Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 all of yall have points with these estimates, and honestly im expecting nothing less of a masterpiece after her being on this album for almost 3 YEARS.
Cbreezy Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 On the topic of her rollout, that's honestly THE thing I'm most excited/intrigued/anxious about going into this era. Slightly more than the actual music, tbh. So much has changed in the industry since Lemonade dropped. She's now equal parts tasked with continuing to be an envelope pusher and coming left field with a format none of us are even thinking, while also needing to absolutely plug in to the way the current market works. Surely she also knows she has to do away with certain things that no longer work in the present market (like platform exclusivity and in a way total surprise drops given how valuable pre-ordering/pre-saving is now).

I think before the reset Ryan mentioned before the wipe they will try to keep the common threads alive but the rest got archived.
