Pud Posted March 3 Posted March 3 EIL is good but I personally find Nice to be one of the worst songs ever made… Anyway

Half this thread are not virgos and the other half ain't got a man to groove with, but all these hoes love Virgo's Groove. So let's not pretend that is the reason itself, many of us don't care for Jay and that's fine to admit. 3

The reason I don’t like EIL is because I feel they’re collectively more talented and creative than EIL indicates. It’s very middle of the road. When you get to a point in your career where you’ve experienced huge commercial success, it’s time to do something experimental and daring that shifts the culture and elicits conversation. Something that is going to change hearts and minds. Something that will be referenced for decades to come. EIL is not that. It’s a rich couple bragging about their wealth and the amazing life they live. It did nothing to shift the culture, it lacked social commentary, and it was poorly conceived. Compare that to Renaissance. It shifted the culture, it was filled with cultural and historical references, and it was extremely well conceived and thought out. It had meaning and substance. It is something that will be remembered for decades and centuries to come because of that, not just because of the music itself. It’s only because of the respect I have for Jay that I was and still am disappointed with EIL. 2

EIL is actually really good. I mostly ignored it in 2018 but it worked its way into my rotation by 2021-22. The Carters was like my 10th most streamed artist last year SUMMER, APESHIT, HEARD ABOUT US are the holy trinity. 1

Seemed like it was made in a rush, no real message, etc. There are a couple of songs I still listen to though.. I firmly believe there was an era planned and a movie (as the story told in the fragments during the tour) but everything was canceled when the first week numbers were lackluster. 1

ReachInsideMe Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Kanye is taking that #1. They’re setting the Twitter hive up for a lashing on Monday because you know they can’t help but get ahead of themselves. 3
