cloudbusting Posted March 3 Posted March 3 if we’re sharing bad takes this morning as we seem to be, then i wanna say Salud can stay on tidal because the vocal processing on it doesn’t work for me now if we want a GOOD take, yall need to give Summer her flowers if we’re talking about EIL songs that can stay 2
jane Posted March 3 Posted March 3 (edited) People do too much with EIL. I see it as Bey and Jay bragging about their success and getting it out of their system. Y'all dont understand when an artist needs a dominating feeling to get out of there so they can move on. They probably became very proud of all that they have accomplished and realized they needed one album of only that. There is a reason it's not on their official artist pages on streaming, it's under The Carters, a made up group and it's going to stay there forever. They dont have to limit themselves to please the public, they can do whatever they want and they did, the audience didn't feel it, so they moved on. You wont see them on the internet whining about it. Edited March 3 by jane 2

I didn’t even know it debuted at #2
ShouldersSideways Posted March 3 Posted March 3 EIL's numbers mean nothing to do me. I played NICE like five times a day when it came out but most of the songs aged pretty poorly. SUMMER is one of their best collabs ever, though, and APESHIT is fun. 4

Fleahive Posted March 3 Posted March 3 (edited) I didn’t read the previous page but EIL was an embarrassing era sorry. That damn boy band beating their album sales made me feel ill. The songs were ok but like someone said dated on arrival. When you think of Bey and Jay collab you think high tempo songs that we all love CIL, Deja Vu, Upgrade U, or the GOATED Part 2 On the Run (mid tempo). But that album gave let’s re-record unused experimental tracks from 2006 and make it an album in 2018. Edited March 3 by Fleahive 1
Burn Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Whether you like EIL or not it was a catalyst for everything that came after it so I’m sure we can all agree to be grateful for it in that respect. 1

Survey says you not even close!” And then reality sets in. 3

ReachInsideMe Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I don’t particularly like rap either so there’s that. If you like EIL, then I’m really happy for you. The album is just not my cup of tea overall, although I like a couple of songs on it. I just think two of the greatest artists of our time on an album together could have come up with something better than EIL. Something a bit more experimental, creative, and revolutionary is what I would expect from artists of their calibre. But we got a very conventional hip-hop and R&B album that seemed rushed and not very well conceived. 1

Burn Posted March 3 Posted March 3 It was just the other day I learned that Ty Dolla $ign wrote on BOSS and suddenly it made so much sense why that song is so damn good. I’d love for him to work with Bey again, he’s got good taste as evidenced below.
tachiwaka Posted March 3 Posted March 3 1 hour ago, Kristie Kuwa said: The main issue with EIL is: There is not 1 song on that album that matches the brilliance of their other collabs (Crazy in Love, Bonnie and Clyde, Upgrade You, Deja Vu, OTR, Drunk in Love). So it literally just doesnt move you as a listener When u know what they CAN do, EIL just falls flat tbh Not when That’s How You Like It exists - everything on EIL clears
sillycilla Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I would have enjoyed EIL if it was an actual well thought out/planned era. Seemed like it was made in a rush, no real message, etc. There are a couple of songs I still listen to though..
