Mirtilo Posted February 23 Posted February 23 A worldwide hit with a country song. I was so sure this would flop into oblivion. 4 4

I literally mentally prepared myself for her first big flop era. A country song being a hit didn't seem possible. Edited February 23 by Havoc 3
PrudenceHCharmed Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Someone commented to bump a thread from The Gift era....
PrudenceHCharmed Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I need her to smash in Asia. It's been a very very long time 1
Cbreezy Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Still feel like we're in an alternate universe with these numbers! That said, a bit of randomness I've had top of mind: Do any of my fellow "Business of Beyonce Hive" ever wonder what the inner workings of Parkwood / Columbia are like? It's all well and good that Texas is smashing like this, but it really wasn't a given. If anything, I think most would have anticipated the opposite. Even with the streaming gains of the Rennie era. Looking at it like that, I'm wondering aloud if there was any contingency plan? Would we have got the cover/pre-order way sooner if Texas wasn't smashing? Would they have pivoted to 16 Carriages? Pulled any tricks? I guess the joy of it, is that none of these questions really matter given that she's slaying so hard like this lol. BUT... Spoiler I think it's all so fascinating to me because I don't buy the idea that Bey is just this super lucky artist who finds an angle to win every single time. Not sure that kind of "luck" exists. Especially for an act like her who often wilfully sabotages her commercial potential ("art not charts"). She's hella consistent musically, but the charts are not a meritocracy. Great music tanks all the time. Hell, we even saw that with Bey for The Gift aka a project that didn't receive the same kind of push as this or Rennie. I say alladis to say, I think her team does a great -- and dare I say underrated -- job of constantly finding an angle for her to win every time with her main solo projects. This trilogy is only halfway through and has already yielded two #1s, one of which is shaping up to be a monster smasha. From the playlist handling (See: $$$) to radio to not rushing through her rollout (e.g. cover, title, etc still to come). There's deffo room for ish to take a left (wtf is the pre-order link). But at the moment, it feels pretty masterful. It also "feels" smart and data-driven. For example, #1 on TTH was always gonna be a given, but they cut the check (presumably) at the exact point it already secured the Hot 100 #1 without it, so now it's a longevity play, as radio and co kicks in, for multiple weeks at #1 on the Hot 100. Again, it all presents as extremely well handled and befitting of how Bey "should" be promoted as the megastar she is. In short (lmao), kudos toTeam Bey. Kudos. I long for that behind-the-scenes article detailing their strategy and approach to "working" a Beyonce campaign in 2024 (much how we used to get with those BTS of Mathew spilling back in the day). It probably won't come as she loves the mystery. But the geek in me longs to soak it all up. 1

That kind of longevity comes from hard work, dedication and passion but it can't possibly explain everything. 2
Fleahive Posted February 23 Posted February 23 lol a little monster tried to say the superbowl ad is the reason for her most successful song since telephone but was clocked by someone else who said Super Bowl is only played in the USA and the song is a worldwide smash.
Chris Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Damn, she definitely is a world wide woman. Double Yew! Double Yew! Double Yew! You know she's that type of girl! 2

Talent = world knows she has this in abundance Dedication = most acts would have tapped out and enjoyed their fame/money Divine Choseness = there deffo is an air of luck / meant to be Strategy = this, I find, is hella overlooked with a lot of big acts. Even for icons like MJ, there was A LOT of savvy strategy to keep him top of the pack (alongside him having all of the above). Like, not sure a of people even know the "King of Pop" title (which is deserved) was actually seeded by his own team. He also did things like jumping on New Jack Swing at the opportune time, Team Bey is smartly combining all

Red Velvet Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Just thinking how good TXHE will be live when she performs it
Kristie Kuwa Posted February 23 Posted February 23 The "versatile" debate is so funny to me when its evident that their favs could literally NEVER do songs like Formation, Crazy in Love, Love On Top or Listen, while Beys tribute of their songs would probably go viral because shes THAT good 4
