BlondGuts Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I remember back in 2022 word on the street was that act II was a country album… I thought it was lies then here we are in 2024.. how did that rumor ever come about back then?

period sis Posted February 13 Posted February 13 There was word about her doing country before there were ANY hints about her doing House. I remember when we were for sure going to get country music, that was before we knew there would be different "Acts". 1

I think Ryan Tedder said it - he said he did a country or acoustic song for her.

A journalist from an Italian magazine said he spoke with someone from her team back in 2022 and they said it was going to be House- Country- Rock. I think nobody took him seriously but that seems to be right. All the music is recorded already and she did them all during the pandemic. 2 1

I think the real concern is whether country voters will vote for her, or R&B folks flock to country to support her. oh there's no way she's taking home a country award, I don't think.
ShouldersSideways Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I don't see her ever winning a genre award outside of R&B or pop. She got nominated for DHY with a beloved rock legend like Jack White and still couldn't win there. 1
swissman Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Beyoncé really did something to me with these songs. I didn't expect to be so hyped for a country act, but the flavours she's given have certain wet the appetite. TEXAS HOLD 'EM is just fun and silly but also so laidback, and 16 CARRIAGES is truly an epic ballad, so beautiful and forlorn but kind of gritty. 2
HeavyMetalAura Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I thought the rumor was house-country-Jay-Z collab album? Am I wrong? I swear I remember that one being a rumor too. Either way, I hope it ends up being rock ain't nobody here for The Carters 2.0

Not even in a bad way, but in a "ok, this is interesting" kind of way. I trust that she'll tie it all together well. I do wish the Variety article made it clearer how the concepts intertwine and will still be cohesive. IMO, based on the info, it's giving: * act 1: dance * act 2: country-inspired (both of which still give her the scope to Urban-ize as they are both Black genres originally anyway). Even then, the collaborators purposefully mentioned don't even really fit into either. Ryan (who I'm ecstatic she's working with) is more outright Pop and Raphael is an R&B legend. Neither of which scream the genres they mentioned. Still, just makes me more excited/curious about the soundscape Bey has created. So, I'd gladly take act 2 sounding similar. I think she should go all out with the Dance drop for act 1 For act 2 (which I naturally feel will have the type of buzz we most associate with traditional re-releases and deluxe editions) there can be the more experimentative angle with the Country. On 6/16/2022 at 8:25 PM, Devin said: When I first heard that, Daddy Lessons came to mind ngl. Not a bad song but I was like how would this sound tie into pop and house? Then again racist ass Morgan Wallen still smashing with a country pop album – I know we aren’t ready. the country convo dates back to June 2022. 1 2 5

swissman Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Also that Beyoncé/Dolly-esque sign has REALLY intrigued me. I kinda hope the visuals serve Beyoncé in various roles: tawdry saloon singer, farmer lady, small town cashier, lady who is always at a casino, mother of three, geologist, cattle rancher, madame of a prestigious but dusty brothel, etc. etc. etc. like an American south where a bunch of different Beyoncés exist... enter some sci-fi themes to tie it to Echoville/act I, etc. etc. etc. 1
makeme Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I for sure remember some critic saying the second album was country

S9meone correct me if I'm wrong- I believe the flyer had something to do with Spatial Lab app that Jay Z invested into some kind of way. There was young black guy who, I believe, owned the app that was tweeting alongside the albums release as if they had something coming pertaining to the visuals. I can't remember all of it, it's been nearly 2 years, fan pages on Twitter thought it was going to be a way to view the visuals. They were thinking on his app, something virtually interactive or something along those lines. After a while, the theory was proved false.
BGKC Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I stumbled across this song and video recently and it reminded me of Lemonade a bit (aesthetically), but it’s a really good song if anyone’s interested. Im just imagining Beyoncé’s vocals on something like this and it’s just too much for me to handle.
nooniebao Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Hmm I guess Orville Peck could be involved too if the Ivy Park rodeo tea is anything to go by. 4
