6-7M is actually quite good. That's a little more than I was expecting :dancehall2: the comparisons to Taylor are just major set ups when it comes to numbers

Me saying releasing in the middle of the night was not a good move. Vindicated again.  Parkwood still thinks it’s 2013 and surprise drop at 2am is all that was needed.

If You Say So Shrug GIF

Yup the time was such a big mistake. Also, sorry but that trailer did NOT give. How was the "thank you Worldwide Hive" one better and gets you more hyped? And have they even started to air it on TV yet?:deadbanana4:

To everyone saying, "well what else are you expecting it's Bey", I'm not expecting her to suddenly IASF it up, but to handle a theatrical release the same way you handle a throwaway single is crazy :rip:

Some people are truly delusional. ONE DAY and she released the trailer kinda late and it still made faily high numbers. I dont expect everyone to rush buying tickets to the movies when they know they can always just show and get tickets. It's very different than a concert, there wont be a limit to tickets here. Stop comparing Beyoncé to nonsense and go stan your pop girls away from her base. Good lord!

Releasing the trailer midday on a Sunday, before her final show would have been an even dumber marketing decision.

Ending the concert and not giving anything until Monday morning would have caused you to have an even worse meltdown.

She's not ever going to win with some of y'all. Keep it moving.

She did not have to release on Sunday lol.. the point was to let the hype build and release early in the day for max exposure on Monday.

“Movies with similar first day pre-sales figures include Avatar: The Way of Water ($5.5M), Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 ($6M) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($6.5M).”

reports.

Here. Do you think when Disney saw those Pre-sales tickets, they were depressed and thought the projects  would fail? 2 movies ended up making Billions by the way. Not saying Beyoncé will make so much but from now to December, a lot can happen. Another trailer will be released. People will start missing Beyoncé and the tour in a month, last minute there can be another movement of people wanting to dress in silver again showing up to the theaters.

Beyhive, stop arguing with fools. They are not thinking clearly, it's all about winning points on a  discussion forum.

The trailer was the biggest let down.  It gave here’s what’s coming up on next weeks episode of the Parkwood chronicles.

Is there really such a big difference between waking up to news of the film and being awake when news of the film drops? Either way people are going to talk about it. One might even say during the day people are more distracted than when they wake up and check their phone for the first time.

There's no way that her releasing it in the middle of the day would have garnered a significant enough amount more of first day sales for it to make that much of a difference, especially when closing the tour with the trailer just makes sense.

Insanity. Movies thrive on overhype and mass interest. Barbie and Oppenheimer, though they probably didn't need all that much, still got all of the extensive and over the top promo to get to where they were in numbers and pop culture. It's a concert film, but it's a concert film of one of the most popular tours of all time. At least include sneak peeks of the visuals in the trailer even if they're not all in there.

To me, yes it’s all about the right timing. That’s key to success. I don’t work in marketing but a lot of what I do with my work coincides with that side of the business and PR.

By releasing at 2am EST and late PST they spilt up the hype and excitement overnight. Some people who are diehards will buy a ticket right away, others will wait until the morning and by then possibly change their minds. Prime timing to get both causal and die hards was all at once with an announcement during the day and that excitement will build throughout on its own. It literally dwindled  down by the time the morning came around. And then add a not so exciting trailer to mix, mess.

The ig post should have immediately been followed up with twitter and TikTok with a personal note to fans. There’s no reason why your PR manager should be sleeping when you have a movie coming out in two months.

Anyways, it’s all a moot point now. She’s not going to change anything and hopefully she gets top 2 at the Box office. And at least does better than Katy Perry’s numbers.

A music video would be good promo, cough Alien Superstar cough… tease everyone with something.

Did she post on Facebook yet?

The ASMR in the trailer reminds me of the time she sent that voice note in bed rambling to the club renaissance in LA, and everyone was just standing there like 🧍🏻for 7 minutes. She would have knocked me out if I was there. I was definitely whelmed with the trailer. :deadbanana:

You get it! She also said in the trailer and on tour it’s about being free, yet the promo did not sell that to the audience imo.

I will never understand their minimalist approach to everything. It’s a little pretentious.

I do agree I'm burned out on the sleepy voiceovers and the aspect ratio changing as well as the filters. I think she has a hard time narratively tying her films together without going over them with narration later.

She also has trouble demonstrating artisticness in her documentary visuals without applying sepia or grainy black and white distortion.

Beyoncé launched the (current) highest-selling female tour of all time with a single image.

She's doing fine.

She could be doing better, but she seems to be prioritizing concept over commerce, and that's fine in too.

I think a visual film release at the movies  would have been dope. Especially if it was in the same realm as moonwalker or something like that with a storyline.

This is a great point. Not everything needs a narration, trust the audience to follow along.

I don't think these things are intended to show artistry but impart a classic feeling onto them and situate feelings of past, present and probably in RWT's case, the future (by contrasting it with HD footage of the show).

For example, seeing parts of Homecoming (especially the actual concert itself) through the Super 8 lens kind of re-wires the way you see the event outside of the present moment. It then starts to have the mythological feeling of seeing an old Diana Ross concert, or other such footage. It's a bit of a cheap trick, tricking our minds like that, but I think it serves its purpose well.

And anyway, what other amazing ideas do people have to replace it? Just standard colour? 3D behind-the-scenes? Smell-o-vision so we can smell the parfum? I'm not sure why Beyoncé isn't allowed to have a style when it comes to how she directs her documentaries.

At least the critics love it and it’ll be once again, universally acclaimed hence why she keeps following this formula. They just need to give her the Oscar already.

Im just there for the professional recording of the show, her giving the side eye in rehearsals, Honey getting beat up, and that’s it. I want this film gay and rated R as hell. I want to see the gays in Club Rennie with their bare ass out (because I know they got at least 10 of them in every city)! There is not an appropriate or any instance where we need cuts to Jay. Rumi and Sir, luv u niece and nephew, but they ain’t drawing me to the recliners. :chick1:
