let's be real the THIQUE-AUIUM-DIL segment was the weakest of them all and she was right to cut it.

not when Church Girl - Get Me Bodied - Rather Die Young exists :deadbanana4:

People discussing "weak points" of the show.

There are NO weak points throughout the show.

Let's be honest here.

I personally love love LOVED the Dique-Drunk on Vocals segment of the show however I also like the Rather Die Young section as well.

She also sings "Paint the world ***** pink" on the album...seems like that.

Doesn’t that basically mean the same thing when you think about it :sistrens:

no but its probably referring to that lyric yeah

She is wrong for cutting that section over certain other ones no one asked for :coffee2:

You are correct now that I think of the lyric in the context of the pride flag colour name drops.

Agree, there are no weak points. The weaker points have been cut.

How do you guys feel about the new Formation outfit?

Very similar to the Formation Tour Crazy in Love outfit, right?

I mean, is Beyoncé bending over on a metal bar she's been at million times since 2003 in the relative dark singing THIQUE (which isn't really a vocally dynamic song) then walking over to another spot and bending down to sing AAIYM really that great? The songs are, but the staging is not. And if I'm honest, the performances of DIL have never quite been as good as the song itself. They never quite elevated it (except for the literal elevation she did in Dubai), and maybe it didn't need to. Plus a certain lyric in the same concert she tributes Tina Turner is maybe not the look.

Compare that to the vocally impressive three you've cited, and the active choreography she does through Get Me Bodied, the peppy performance of CHURCH GIRL, and the vocals of RDY, it's not the same imo.

We know Beyoncé watches back her performances. I think it's pretty clear she would have watched the cut segment and realized it's just not hitting like the others.

I adore it! And that look was one of my faves from the tour too (especially with the dickie in place).

ALSO, neither THIQUE nor AUIYM are lyrically integral to the story or point of RENAISSANCE both being extensions of the same self-pride, romantic bodaciousness outlined already on the tour through songs like ALIEN SUPERSTAR (more clearly) and PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA. Omitting a song like CHURCH GIRL removes the entire commentary it brings about the duality of human sexuality, and the religious experience of the club, as well as tying together the notions of sex and otherworldliness as presented in pieces throughout the album.

Well personally for me, I LOVED the way Thique was introduced as a performance. The way the interlude/segue played the instrumental of the song first mixed with some elements from End of Time, paused for a bit, and then boom: Thique.

:jonny5: :jonny5: :jonny5:

I also loved the red demonic/satanic visuals for All Up in Your Mind.

:jonny5:

And then her last runs on Drunk in Love was just....

She was so wrong for this.

:skull:

The way Sweet Dreams has been done wrong since 2008 is a literal crime.

Was there ever a performance of Sweet Dreams where she sang it in its entirety?

I have to disagree. DIL at Homecoming was one of the best parts of the show. I loved it so much. It is true that songs from Self-Titled do not translate well live, but sometimes they hit just fine

Well she should've realized Virgo's Groove is not hitting like the others and add some choreo to it as well :giraffe:

Agreed.

I actually thought about that afterwards as one of the ones I thought worked best, but even in that case it was more that she was literally elevated. It's a fantastic song and so soundtracked a fantastic moment in Homecoming as well but she didn't have to do more than be extremely charismatic, it wasn't that it was staged in such a brilliant way that it expanded the song, per se, if that makes sense? Though I guess the prop counts as staging. The surfboard part was good though, that really did elevate the feeling with the way the dancers did it with her.

Indeed, but I think cutting stuff is easier once on tour than restaging something, getting new choreography, etc. so it remains as is.

Plus maybe she wanted to keep her voice relaxed for that?

the truth is that the opening act and the whole opulence section wasn’t needed :coffee2:

they are nice bonus sections but the main show would have made more sense with THIQUE/AUIYM/DIL included over those two acts but ideally she could have just cut down certain songs no one would have needed here and there :sistrens:

the songs i’d delete to bring back that section:

-rather die young

-before i let go

-the tina cover

these songs were not needed tbh

they erupt because someone jumps on stage... when they realize it's not her it's crickets :toofunny3:

Spoiler

tbf I was just joking because 7/11 is one of her weaker songs (even though it's a bop)

I was kinda annoyed when she started to perform Rather Die Young…but it’s been on my mind ever since. I literally woke up singing it. :clap3:

Also loved the way she added the Speechless, Rocket, and Dance For You lyrics into the outro of Virgo’s Groove. I hadn’t heard any one talking about it, and was pleasantly surprised. HEATED was my favorite performance though. Her energy was just magical.

Are there any songs from her discography you feel Beyonce hates performing?
