They clearly have an issue with her We just need her to win that Oscar instead If they had an issue with her, she wouldn't even have been nominated as they did with The Weeknd with After hours.
KKCuteCat Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Grammy is literally so political in recent years. And they often don't give Ari the recognition she deserves. I mean, this literally (one of) her best album. Yet it only get 2 nods in subcategory. We Can't Be Friend was competely snubbed while some of her peers don't even deserve to get noms, yet they win. 1

She is for sure getting one next year, her possible nominations are: Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media - Wicked Best Pop Duo/Group Performance - Defying Gravity She will also get nominated (and possibly win) again in 2027 with Wicked: For Good's soundtrack. She really dropped the ball not writing an original song for Part 2 though It takes her out of the running for Best Song Written for Visual Media, SOTY, and the Oscar for Best Song. 2 1
Jude Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Hello f. She sounded amazing during the on the spot singing segment at Jimmy Kimmel live.

Yeah, hopefully that rumor turns out to be false. That wouldn't be the best idea for her to not co-write the song, at the very least. Maybe they can do some last minute rearrangements and have her write a line or two. 1

Shinkirou Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I wish she waited a little longer to relase more music. If Eternal Sunshine was released right now in between Wickeds, I feel like it would be her biggest era ever.
wildsidenormani Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I really thought she had CC in the bag. I've mentally prepared myself for a Zoe sweep of the remaining awards. Mother's time will come one day
Jude Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Yeah, at this point I'm getting desensitized with these losses. 1

Tm4074 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Ariana not wanting to hurt Cynthia's chances for an EGOT is definitely why she isn't trying for Best Original Song next year. She has never been one to prioritize her career ambitions over her friendships. She won't want to take votes from Cynthia. I wish she were a little more hungry for these achievements because even though they aren't that important in the grand scheme of things, they help with setting career narratives which can lead to more opportunities. I don't think we should get worked up over her not winning these major film awards. Just getting nominated for an Oscar with her first movie is incredible. So many actors go their whole career without receiving a nomination and she got one with her debut film performance and with the bias of being a pop star going against her. That's huge. Her going empty handed at the GRAMMYs this year was expected. She doesn't campaign and it was a super competitive year in pop. Nothing compares to when they didn't give TUN at least one win. That was an egregious oversight. Or when they snubbed Sweetener in the main categories (it was confirmed there was internal politics involved with her missing AOTY and SOTY noms that year). I'm happy for Sabrina winning 2 GRAMMYs this year but can't lie that it's kinda annoying to see her get her flowers for her first big breakthrough in pop when she is literally just following the lane Ariana established during My Everything and DW era with the sexy/cute pint-sized retro diva aesthetic to the pop/r&b/dance songs with clever sexual innuendo and humorous elements. Ariana created this specific lane in pop. Sabrina gets praise from the industry for doing it while Ariana was paid dust until Sweetener. In hindsight it's ridiculous Problem didn't get a ROTY nomination back then when today they nominate songs like Espresso, Say So, Truth Hurts, About Damn Time, Kiss Me More, etc. in ROTY. Ex-acts like Miley and Ariana really had to work harder to break those biases so newer ex-acts like Olivia and Sabrina don't have the same barriers to overcome. She needs to start submitting her work to r&b categories, there is no reason why she shouldn't submit some of her songs or even her albums in that genre. If ANTI, Cuz I Love You, Beauty Behind the Madness, Starboy, etc. can be nominated in the contemporary r&b category so should her albums like Sweetener, Positions, and TUN. I mean TUN is definitely the same genre as ANTI yet TUN is categorized as pop while ANTI is contemporary r&b. Make it make sense lol. 8

Everything could happen. but it seems to me that Wicked promo right now is too much. Like too much on the nose. 1
Aiya Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Also Twitter is always annoying I know that, but her fans were super exhausting yesterday. With complaints about no music and how they don't want her to be an actress. she was nominated for an Oscar I don't think they understand how huge this is. 2

Lol, they are so god damn dramatic it's comical. Ariana said she's focusing on acting for the next couple years and her fans on Twitter start melting down like she's retiring from music or something. Of course she is going to strike when the irons hot. She's coming off an Oscar nom and a movie that grossed 700M+ at the box office. She's likely getting several film offers right now. She'd be an idiot to pass on this opportunity. She is already very established in music, she can return to music whenever and will be welcomed back. Besides knowing Ariana she gets bored easily, she'll be itching to return to music after a couple of years. Mark my words. I mean this is the same woman that came home from filming Wicked during the writers strike and immediately went straight to the studio to make music. In one of the podcast interviews she did recently she was asked which workplace she prefers being in, the studio making music or being on set, she answered being in the studio lol. Also music is her primary legacy, all the pop star multi-hyphenates (Barbra, Cher, etc.) ultimately end up back in music when all is said and done despite having successful film careers. Barbra has only done 3 films this century but went on 3 tours and released 8 more albums. Ariana will be back to music at some point and fans need to chill lmao. 4
Tm4074 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I've been re-listening to the full Positions album and I can't believe I was a hater for half this album a few years ago. I will admit I was very wrong lmao. It aged incredibly well and her vocal production/arrangements/delivery is 10/10. I love eternal sunshine don't get me wrong, this may be unpopular opinion but I'd be okay if she doesn't work with Max Martin on her next music project. I know she loves working with him and probably will continue to but I don't think he challenges her enough on the r&b/hip-hop side since you know he's not an r&b or hip-hop producer lol. Like on ordinary things, it sounds like a half-baked Positions reject but not good enough to be included on the Positions album, even the deluxe tracks on Positions have more interesting melodies and production. The pop songs on eternal sunshine are excellent though since that's Max's bag. I've also been re-listening to TUN, but I've always loved that album just haven't actively listened in full in awhile. And it also aged very well considering at the time people were saying it will age badly because it's too 2019 trap. It is 2019 trap but the best parts of that particular trend in music. 7 rings goes harder now than it ever did imo lol. A classic for sure.
