The highest scorer on each tribe will also receive immunity. Let’s get started! The theme for Round 8 is... DROP YOUR BUFFS!! It has now become an individual game. You all are officially merged into one tribe... Almost. Here's how this round will go down! First off, the round is actually called: DUELING DUOS You will be individually paired into seven duos that will duel against each other in a song showdown. We will give each pair a picture, and each person will send us a song over Discord that they believe best encapsulates the picture with no explanation. Once you send a song, it cannot be changed. The judges will give out scores out of 10, and whoever has the highest score in each pair will win immunity. THOSE WHO WIN IMMUNITY WILL NOT ATTEND TRIBAL COUNCIL! If you lose your duel, you will be attending Tribal Council, meaning that seven of you will be safe, and seven of you will be heading to Tribal Council with no immunity. Judging Scale (May Vary By Judge): 9/10 – Great entry. Track displays the theme given head on. 8 – Good entry. Displays theme well but not as well as others. 7 – Okay entry. Fits decently but is missing something overall. 6 – Somewhat tackles the theme but falls flat. 5 – Track mentions theme but is otherwise off–base. 3/4 – Song does not hit the theme given besides a line or two. 1/2 – Song has to do with a completely different subject than the theme. Not Like the Movies - 10 - NOT THIS lmao, but it is definitely perfect for this theme even though it’s very literal. Supaspaz - 10 - Like shooting fish in a barrel. VenusFlyTrap - Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine Spoiler Clue - 8.5 - I really like this choice. It’s pretty extraordinary to see a child on skiis. It’s still a little mature for the picture, though. Not Like the Movies - 8 - First of all, this song is really good, let me save it my music chile, but yeah it’s a bit too figurative for this photo and I love connotative meanings but it would have fit better for a more mature photo. Supaspaz - 5 - I wish I could give you the win for trying to get creative this round, but I’m just not hearing the connection. “I still only travel by foot and by foot, it's a slow climb,” Fiona sings in the first verse, and it doesn’t improve from there. It’s playful enough to go with the cartoon, too. Not Like the Movies - 10 - Very very strong entry. Supaspaz - 10 - The singer is even British like Peppa Pig. Red Light - Lady Gaga - Telephone (feat. Beyoncé) Spoiler Clue - 8.5 - Not quite as jovial and playful as “Hanging Up (On You)” Not Like the Movies - 9.5 - This is also really strong, the both of you ate this up, Supaspaz - 8 - I have to give the edge to your competition, because while this song captures Peppa’s irritated spirit of not wanting to be bothered anymore, theirs is literally about hanging up the phone. Not Like the Movies - 7.5 - I feel like if there was some christmas decorations in the back or a christmas tree, it would have worked better, it’s a good entry though! Supaspaz - 9 - Given that the song is still very descriptively about a snowball fight, there’s no reason to knock off more than a point for the yuletide of it all. Kayseri Mantisi - Jimmy Fallon - Snowball Hide contents Clue - 10 - I could literally see this used in a montage in a bad teen movie while characters are having a snowball fight. Not Like the Movies - 10 - Terrible terrible song but it’s a perfect fit! Supaspaz - 10 - Just wanted to share that JimmyFallonVevo has a video of him performing this at MTV’s Times Square studio while very enthusiastic teenagers in Santa hats dance and sing along and it did make me laugh. Also really doesn’t fit, she doesn’t look particularly glamorous or anything. Not Like the Movies - 5 - I love this song but it does not really fit at all imo, This song is all about glam and luxury and this photo does not have much of that. Supaspaz - 3 - This woman is serving a knit cardigan, not silk taffeta. khalyan - Countess Luann - Money Can't Buy You Class Hide contents Clue - 10 - This is perfect because she looks judgy and not super rich. Not Like the Movies - 8.5 - I definitely see what you were going for, it’s a good pick. Her posture and the way she’s drinking the drink lacks “class”. Supaspaz - 7 - She may not exude elegance, but this woman also looks like she could be firmly upper middle class, so a dunk on the nouveau riche doesn’t feel like a particularly great fit either. I’m surprised that neither of you picked songs about drinking. And the winner is... Wish it wasn’t so centered around coming of age as its theme. Not Like the Movies - 10 - Whew chile my literature student brain absolutely loves this, the photo in itself has very metaphorical imagery and to me this song encapsulates this photo really well, I love it. Supaspaz - 10 - There are so many images from the song reflected in this picture: “I feel snuffed out.” “My nervous system has worn out.” “I feel raked over coals.” “My bones don’t feel this perfection.” Ampersand13 - Bebe Rexha - Sabotage Hide contents Clue - 9.5 - I like how this one actually mentions matches/fire. Not Like the Movies - 9 - This is also a great entry because it’s quite self reflective and the photo symbolises the self sabotage and destruction. Supaspaz - 9 - Another very strong entry. Using matches and burning bridges as the central metaphor for sabotage suits the picture well. And the winner is... The melodrama is so perfect. Not Like the Movies - 10 - The production of this makes this song perfect to be in a movie with a sad love scene, the lyrics also reflect the emotions of Cassie in this photo really well. Supaspaz - 9 - Maybe Tammy Wynette’s man can send some of those roses to Westlife. Acetone - Tammy Wynette - Send Me No Roses Hide contents Clue - 10 - The closest match yet. This one fits absolutely perfectly, right down to the roses. Cassie looks like she’s TIRED of receiving all of those flowers in the background. You couldn’t have made a better choice. Not Like the Movies - 10 - Wow wow wow, Clue is right! The both of you ate. This song is literally perfect for this picture, you snapped with finding this. It portrays the entire photo. But then the song went on about them sleeping, so sure! This photo was taken after they were tired from their adventure. Not Like the Movies - 7 - Hmm the ending of the song is the only reason why I understand your vision but other than that I am not feeling it. Supaspaz - 7 - These gay ass dogs salivating over a big and tasty bone… beatinglikeadrum - David Nail - Babies Hide contents Clue - 6.5 - This was really, really out there. The song is about twin babies, but I guess you sent it because the dogs look like twins… Not Like the Movies - 6 - Those adorable puppies definitely look like twins but when I read the lyrics of the song, it’s a bit too complex for a photo like this, I live for some figurative interpretation but to me this photo did not need that type of analysis.
