MP2K Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Marina and Streets I missed London Grammar this year. Hard to keep up with everything but yeah I'll do better.
Mr. Loco Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 deja vu is really a great song!! It's not my fave from her tho Agree about everything you said from Easy on me, it was not as amazing as expected, but still a really good song
Green Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Great songs in this update NDA, deja vu, Easy on Me, Streets
Born to Run Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 15 hours ago, TheWayWeWere said: 23 Julia Michaels | All Your Exes "I want to live in a world where all your exes are dead" This is...perfect? Like, fun lyrics, guitar accompaniment, honest, comedical a bit, EXTREMLY catchy, relatable and infectious! Probably one of her best songs ever and such a shame it wasn't a success hate GP and her label Ugh I LUV this classic. Also NDA + Deja Vu + EOM
Kiss It Better Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Streets, NDA, Easy On Me also i love the graphics, you always snapped with that
Lazuli Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 streets, nda, deja vu easy on me and the last man on earth
KasioKas Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Easy on Me juuuuust out of top 20 damn! Quote For artists like her, it's not really that important, her power is to showcase her voice, her emotion through it, her songwriting and honesty. I do agree with this quote, she met the assignment but didn't step outside the box, esp for a lead single.
kiiwii Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 ancient dreams at least i wasn't alone with bopping to love+fear sometimes slow dancing + listen!!! + all your exes
potent Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Easy on Me is what I wanted from Adele The Last Man on Earth I liked a few Birdy and LG songs this year, but wasn't enough for me to check out their album, Birdy is definitely underrated though

TheWayWeWere Posted December 31, 2021 Author Posted December 31, 2021 HAPPY NEW YEAR to anyone and see y'all next year, on the final update TOP 50 ALBUMS 13 Lana Del Rey | Blue Banisters "Let me show you how sadness can turn into happiness" Well, this is probably one of the most polarizing album from her for me. I stanned for it for a few weeks (mostly because the title track), but came to realize this is far from her best. I love how it's more raw, more focused on songwriting than her last albums. It feels stripped at times, which helps to show her talent as a songwriter and her emotions through the songs, I love how through the lyrics she's trying to find happiness and peace through her friendship and sisterhood. It's beautiful.mp3 and delicate body of work. Probably one of the most distracting moments of the record - its final, I usually happy when artists realize their vault songs, but it works when it's separate album or bonus tracks/b-sides and etc. Three tracks at the end from 2013 feels shoved at the record at the last moment, and don't get me wrong, I love them, I listened them amount of times when they leaked, but putting it untouched, not even re-recorded feels a bit like a force. I don't feel like they're belong there, which is probably the low-point of album for me. highlights: Black Bathing Suit, Dealer, Thunder, Sweet Carolina 12 Lorde | Solar Power "I just hope the sun will show us the path" I was honestly surprised to know how this record is hated on ATRL Like..yeah, it's not Masterdrama, but it's still Lorde, it's still authentic body of work. Yeah, she's far away from pop now, but she came through with indie folk/psychedelic pop she did on this. I love how entire record feels like a meditation session, like drug experience. It's mostly stripped and unplugged sound, but she comes through with these comfortion guitar sessions, some unexpected euphoric anthems or even actual bops. Yeah, it's not her best, it's more like sitting down with guitar across the fire and tell the stories, your experience, discussing this with friends. It's not exactly what I expected from its title or cover art, it's not shiny, but it's a great album for listening at summer nights or autumn rainy days. highlights: The Path, Fallen Fruit, Secrets from a Girl, California 11 JoJo | Trying Not To Think About It "Please don't come over 'cause you can't compete with the things that I'm scared of" It's so frustrating to see how JoJo is one of the most working artists for the last couple of years and she stays so underrated While Good to Know was a nice step-up in a right direction of modern r&b with pop influences, on her 'capsule project' she decided to go further in deep r&b roots. It's probably her most cohesive and honest project to date. She explores the themes of depression, heartbreak, self-discovery and anxiety. This EP is mostly consist of soft r&b songs, some guitar motives and even piano ballads, she tries to capture her feelings not only with her lyrics, but a music too. And it actually does! You can feel her through the songs, you can feel the athmorsphere surrounding her through the songs. Even interludes are on point and has some meaning behind them. highlights: B.I.D., Spiral SZN, Lift, Fresh New Sheets TOP 150 SINGLES 20 Dua Lipa | Love Again "I never thought that I would find a way out" You know, this is one of these songs, which became even better with time. One of the album standouts since day 1, this aged like a fine wine. I just love how it's not purely dancey, more romantic, more sad dance-floor killer, very sultry and melodic than everything on Future Nostalgia. Orchestral bits on the song is just..heavenly. 19 Sigala, Rita Ora | You for Me "Baby, you're my adrenaline" Rita sis knows for sure how to make perfect summer bop, with the help of Charli XCX, she creates this magnetic sunny banger, capturing the essense of joyful, fun time under the pool or sea. 18 SZA | Good Days "I don't regret, just pretend shit never happened" It's...a masterpiece? SZA still can create magic underneath her music, it's such a melancholic nostalgic trip than helps you to remind you some of the best, most happiest moments of your life. She accepts mistakes, some pain and transforms it in this psychodelic-like mind experience. Truly a magic. 17 Wolf Alice | No Hard Feelings "For everything that ends something else must begin" This is such a beautiful piece of story, with a beautiful delivery from Ellie, I just love how through this beautiful, anxious guitar rhythm they capture the feelings, one of the most relaxing and vulnerable songs from the record. 16 Dua Lipa | We're Good "We're not meant to be like sleeping and cocaine" I know this was pretty much hated on arrival, but I actually loved it. Yeah, it's a bit step-up from Future Nostalgia's disco sound, going more into synth-pop/even r&b a bit influence, but this is so freaking catchy. It's still retro-influenced track, giving us more tropical vibe, I love sassy lyrics and it's hook is unescapable. 15 Birdy | Loneliness "It's time to cut these ties, and watch our shadows fly" To be honest, this is the direction she should follow in future, these witchy vibes are..pure magic! Both pop and a bit folky, Birdy captivates the feel of heartbreak as an experience, sharing her story as a peaceful overture, full of rich harmonies and emotions through her voice. 14 London Grammar | Lose Your Head "Can you see all those parts of me?" Sometimes I can't believe how artists can create songs like that! This dreamy, hypnotical experience along with dark and moody lyrics create such a bright sonical vision. Probably the best way to experience both their new, more electronical sound with a taste of their classic tease, gorgeous and ethereal. 13 Katy B | Under My Skin "Tell me why you use love like a weapon" This is probably the biggest grower for me this year. I was a bit shocked, when heard if first time, because.. you know, Katy is a queen of a dancefloor. But this slow-burning jam slowly became one of my favorite songs this year. That drum sound is so magical, I just love how she captures the feeling of sadness, this song itself come under my skin every time I listen it. And it aged like a fine wine. 12 Lana Del Rey | Arcadia "My body is a map of L.A." This is.. one of her best ballads for sure, I love how it's simple and powerful at the same time. That little nuances, like orchestra sound in the background, hits you every time. And rawness of her voice.. whew 11 Aly & AJ | Symptom of Your Touch "If it feels so good, why does it hurt so much?" It's really one of their best song ever. Like, it's indie-pop, buth these synths and nostalgic dance production just makes everything better. It's such a great bridge between their EPs sound and new folk sound, such an earworm. That explosive chorus gave me goosebumps. Bright production with the dark lyricism is such a great combo. Lazuli Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 blue banisters i think it's in the upper half of her discog tho solar power yes DRAG the haters! love again and we're good the order should've been switched tho! no hard feelings
dreamofyou Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 solar power love nawt it peaking at 3 twice though
Kiss It Better Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 trying not to think about it totally agreed at Solar Power while i don't like it that much, i don't get the hate at all
Achilles. Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Love Again is very nice; never got overexposed, which helps. Kinda have to disagree on Solar Power. “Authentic” is not really a word I’d use to describe it. The whole thing feels phoned in.
Moonlightbae Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 trying not to think about and Solar Power were excellent Blue Banisters also solid album. Love Again masterpiece We're Good is also nice. Arcadia and Good Days are stunning! You for Me is for sure a summer bop but 20 might be very high for it
Tinashegrande6 Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Oh yes Jojo's album was great! Love again, you for me and Good Days Yeah We're Good was overhated for no reason
TalkThatRihanna Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Rita and SZA in the Top 20 Lorde is 100 places too high
Pink Matter Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 I think I just listened to Blue Banisters once and couldn't bother to check it out again Maybe I'll give it another shoot, maybe Love Again and Good Days though
