It’s 2021, that kind of promo is useless now. folklore, evermore, SOUR, Planet Her & MONTERO didn’t have any promo first week either.

It will work since the viewers of GMA, SNL are old crowds who are most likely to buy vinyls

that oprah special didnt even mention the date of her upcoming album

These days, older people are buying CDs, young people buy vinyl.

Pure sales are more profitable than streams, since Spotify takes more from those streams than other platforms and stores take from pure sales.

yeah the earnings in streams are piss

i dont believe that Spotify is having losses, surely they are cheating to give lower returns to the label.

Yeah it's better that Adele is making more through pure sales. More profit for her.

You should call the FBI if you have proof. That’s no joke.

Show us the performances from the week those artists released albums then.

Promo is not just "performances". Stop acting brand new. Its 2021.

They literally were referring to performances. Again, just stop.

Adele slaying. Taylor is lucky she snuck that one week at number one by changing her release date, otherwize hurricane Adele would have simply blown her out of the water.

Please point me to where I suggested Spotify is committing fraud.

In most other times she would have at least 2 maybe 3 weeks at #1 right now. Having 0 with those numbers would have been very very unlucky

No you did :deadbanana4:

And of course Spotify is having losses. Streaming is still not a buisness model that works. Guess the monthly rate isnt high enough but increasing that now seems difficult

And you obviously have users who stream a lot and users who streams very little. Both pay the same but Spotify has to pay out way more for one

and by blown away you mean “outsold a re-recording for 200k sales with a brand new album” :celestial6:

is 200k supposed to be a small amount? only 12 albums have sold 200k TOTAL in 2021.

not to mention the difference in sales was actually 323k, which only 6 albums have reached in the past year.

Can y'all stop with the "re-recording" excuse?

It was absolutely marketed like a brand new album.

- 8 (9) brand new songs.
-Lots of hype and pre-orders months before it's release ( 5 months of Taylor hyping her fanbase and even was active on TikTok just for that)
-2 high production music videos ( one of them is basically a movie with two very famous actors) released in the same week.
-A premiere of the mini-movie in AMC Theatres at Lincoln Square, New York with a red-carpet and all and many celebrities attended.
-SNL on the release week.
-Many versions of the lead single (ATW)
-A song from the album impacted radios and is now top 20 ( Message in a Bottle)

Don't get me wrong, the numbers are very impressive but it was marketed like a brand new album and for you to use " re-recording" every single time as an argument is just not logical.

It literally is not illogical because it literally is a re-recording. It doesn't matter how it's marketed, this album almost a decade old and is already 7x platinum. It should not be selling like this. It's not an "excuse", it's literally a factual reality. Fearless arguably had more hype as it was the first of the re-recordings, and she actually released singles before the release, and it did only half of what Red did.

The entire point is that the comparison of the two (Red TV and 30) is stupid, but the fact remains that no one expected Red TV to perform how it's performing, not even Taylor's label, as evidenced by the physicals being sold out everywhere. You are co-signing a user on here who obsessively denigrates Taylor (including her cats which is weird as fuck), and is actively trying to compare the two releases to make Adele look better. That isn't a good thing, of course you would expect Adele to outsell a re-recording :toofunny2:

This is a nonsensical argument.  You could market a cat as a dog, but that would not change the fact that it is still a cat.  To pretend it is not what it is is a little delusional.

I’m sorry but this is reminding me of Gaga’s “you would not critic and English paper” speech and I’m cackling :dies:
