Staryu Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman A classic, a smash, feminist anthem, fun, catchy Dolly Parton - Jolene Yes this is iconic, a classic, and I love a song with a story Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much Another fun Shania bop, love how she drags useless egotistical str8 men Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do I love Sheryl, she's super underrated, she's always sounded authentically herself to me, love that for her Shania Twain - You're Still The One Shania's best ballad, but does it top the other 2 fun smashes here? Depends on if I'm in a "ballad mood" I guess. Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again This is a really cute song. Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats Love Carrie's attitude, her swagger, her growl, her grit, this song holds up well, a modern country classic.
Psycho Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman: THE country banger Dolly Parton - Jolene: Classic, her best Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You: Beautiful country ballad, but Whitney outsold Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much: Banger, get into HAIM's cover of this Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do: It's a cute hit and the chorus is iconic, but I don't really like the spoken verses Shania Twain - You're Still The One: Stunning ballad Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again: Very pleasant, this has my favorite production of the Dolly songs Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats: A 2000s classic. I used to think she sang "dug my keys into your legacy"
Tom Vercetti Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman - Probably her best? I'm not a Shania fan by any means but this isn't bad. Dolly Parton - Jolene - Her signature song for good reason. Easy to listen to and to follow along through the storyline. Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You - A bit uninteresting, and compared to Whitney this comes off as uneventful, especially after following Jolene. Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much - I've noticed in the past this song got a lot of love from other atrl rates but I never got the hype. It is memorable though due to the pre-chorus/chorus, so i'll give it that. Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do - I can't get into the narrative talk-singing she's doing throughout the song. Also not a fan of her voice either. Shania Twain - You're Still The One - I'm not a ballad person so this isn't doing it for me either unfortunately. Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again - Poppier than her other songs but solid tbh. The production really works in its favor. Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats - The country AI representative. I don't totally agree with the song's subject matter but at least the hook can be enjoyable.
Kavish Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 ⸸ Kavish ⛧ Kritiques ⸸ ~ Dolly Parton – Jolene Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You "Jolene" is the obvious country or Dolly entry for a good cause. The strings paired with the chorus produce such an infectious song, and understandably a classic. Even though "Here You Come Again" feels like a middle-of-the-country-road song, it still outpaces the beloved "I Will Always Love You" due to its production. "I Will Always Love You" is a sweet ballad, but Whitney's cover is so powerful, heart-wrenching, and explosive at the bridge that the original version pales in comparison. Shania Twain - You're Still The One Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much "You're Still the One" and "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" are undeniably among Shania's best and most recognizable works. "The One" is one of country's most gorgeous ballads and "Woman" is a celebration that solidified her crossover even more. Although "That Don't Impress Me Much" doesn't embrace warmly like "The One" or commands attention like "Woman", it is still a fun time and arguably her best third option after the other two. Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do One of Sheryl's best for sure – I appreciate the groovy beat - but the song is not as essential as the other choices this round. I would jam to it if it comes on the Country station, but I wouldn't necessarily include it in my Country playlist. Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats A cute modern pick for this round, and while it doesn't compare to some of these classics, it deserves its place in the bunch. The angry girlfriend trope was trendy in music at that time, but it stands out for being close to country-rock with its thrashing instrumental and Carrie's aggressive tone. ~
thecptz Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman ahhhhhh lets go girls!! this is such a nice and fitting song to start the round it makes me wanna go feral because it is soooo fun and it rlly is everything.. this serves so hard and its a classic that we love!! we is me ofc in case u want to know Dolly Parton - Jolene SO TRUE! this country classic and miss dolly rlly took us on a ride with this one.. its not my personal favorite from her but i think it still does its job and is a great pick this round, nice work! Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You yea this is a great country ballad but sending it here is kinda a risk because even though its great, i fear it might be overshadowed by like bops and its kinda a problem with me here.. because yea its a great song but its just there compared to others Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much urgh period.. i think i discovered this song when i discovered shania twain and listened to like her big hits.. anyways this is such a fun song and it does impress me a lot still love this song now and its a great song! Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do oooooh this is very cool.. my first time listening to it but the chorus is super catchy and overall vibe of the song is quite nice the verses are fine but yea again, compared to other songs, its just there and i got bored a bit towards the end. its a nice lil country bop tho! Shania Twain - You're Still The One urgh a classic!! again, i love this song and all shania picks are my faves so yall did that with the picks lmao... i wish u had submitted the one with the spoken part at the beginning because i love that part so much giggles!! this is still great tho its a nice listening and its so romantic i wanna cry Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again NOW THIS.. YEAH MY WEDDDING SONG I FEAR Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again: this is okay Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats: iconic classic
Overprotected Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 Spoiler Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman - Massive classic and a banger, a song that never fails to put me in a good mood. Dolly Parton - Jolene - Miley ate her up, this is obviously a classic but it felt a bit too low key, like it just came and went. Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You - Whitney ate her up, this version is heartfelt but also quite boring. Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much - Another banger from this MAGA queen :praise: ok so you’re top 8 on vanishing letters? That don’t impress me much… Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do - A very cute bop, she really knows how to create a catchy hook Shania Twain - You're Still The One - Such a lovely song it makes me wish I could relate to it :grimescry: Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again - Oh this one was nice, I really liked the instrumental. Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats - Oop I really enjoyed this, the verses reminded me a lot of No Body No Crime featuring HAIM!!
mokitsu Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Spoiler Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman: The most obvious song for this round but a really good one nonetheless. You know you snatched a classic. Dolly Parton - Jolene: I love how dark this sounds. Like something you'd hear in True Detective season 1 as they're going through the bodies in a swamp. A nice contrast to the sweeter songs from her in this round; I'd give this the edge for how truly heartbroken she sounds and how good the story is. Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You: Whitney ate her up. This is sweet but doesn't do much for me. Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much: HAIM made me like this I'd say it's even better than Man! despite not being as iconic/bombastic. It's really fun. Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do: She's singing about having fun but sounds bored as ****. Not impressed. Shania Twain - You're Still The One: Very cheesy and boring. Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again: Honestly this is barely country but I really love it and always have. So sweet that it gives you diabetes but she pulls it off perfectly. Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats: The winner is here very dark but also really fun. I love revenge songs in country and this is one of the best in the genre. ughgabriel Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 shania twain - man! i feel like a woman this is probably her most iconic and recognizable song, great job on snatching it within seconds!! it’s such a fun and vibrant song!! dolly parton - jolene this is probably her most iconic and recognizable song, great job on snatching it within seconds!! [2] this is a lyrical masterpiece and there’s a reason why people are still covering / referencing it dolly parton - i will always love you people are on crack, sorry, i really like this version of the song. i’m not saying it’s better but it’s more up my alley than whitney’s version shania twain - that don’t impress me much noooooow, i loveeee this song. honestly, it is such a badass song. i love the attitude, the production, i feel like everything encapsulates the feeling she was trying to convey in a very effective way and this might be my favorite shania song sheryl crow - all i wanna do this was interesting. i don’t really know how i feel about the song. i don’t hate it but also i wouldn’t listen to it by choice. i thought it was clever and it had a uniqueness to it. i just don’t know if i dig it, i haven’t made up my mind… shania twain - you’re still the one i am sorry, i hated this song. there was something very soulless about it. it just felt very formulaic and boring to me dolly parton - here you come again this was cute. i didn’t find it to be particularly memorable and i think the other two dolly songs are better. this one was pleasant to listen to but it doesn’t stand out that much. it does have a quirkiness that makes me appreciate it a little more, though carrie underwood - before he cheats I LOVE THIS SONG. i love the variations in her delivery. the melodies are strong and the vocals are powerful. a big yes.
Alena Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 my thoughts, round 14 Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman - it's a fun song but i'm not as obsessed with it as everyone else tbh :shy: Dolly Parton - Jolene - such a classic ahhh. i feel like everyone knows this song <3 Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You - it's not as perfect as Whitneys version but this is still so so soooo beautiful and wonderful ^_^ Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much - i guess it's decent... maybe im just a Shania hater! Sorreee. Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do - it's something! Shania Twain - You're Still The One - veryyyy basic, don't impress me much! Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again - nowhere near the level of the other Dolly songs but it still ate Shania up! Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats - loved this! very fun and i love her attitude x ♡
smholiv Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 HOFORK’S MOBILE REVIEWS!!! Yayyy Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman Its a cool classic but feels a lot like a product of it’s time. I wouldn’t seek this song out but would be fine listening to it in the background of a drugstore or something. Dolly Parton - Jolene truly an iconic smash hit and one of the best songs ever. She’s awesome Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You I like both versions of this song but Dolly’s has a somewhat unpolished genuineness to it that is special. Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much same as the previous Shania song but less enjoyable. Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do slight bop! A little soft AC radio for me to adore but it’ll be in the middle. Shania Twain - You're Still The One I vastly prefer her ballads and this one is really special. Again, very 90s balladry but I think it’s pretty Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again Pretty good! Will do well for me because I admire Dolly’s artistry but it is my least fave of the 3 Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats Honestly huge bop and still her best song

ATRL Moderator Element Posted September 29, 2021 ATRL Moderator Posted September 29, 2021 Shania Twain - Man! I Feel Like A Woman "the best thing about being a woman is the prerogative to have a little fun" ugh it's so true bestie.... men just don't have fun. they are always miserable or screaming about balls in some form a major bop x Dolly Parton - Jolene very much a classic... i feel like cover versions of this song are much more "full" sounding and dramatic, which is inch resting. this original is very sparse but i still enjoy it. Dolly Parton - I Will Always Love You i'm so sorry but I agree with everyone else whitney's version leaves this in the dust... and the warbling timbre of dolly's voice is just really not pleasant Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much another mega bop from a MAGA flop she really dragged men from head to toe back in the day huh Sheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do honestly this has never been a favorite sheryl song for moi it's cute though, despite the verses being a bit annoying stream there goes the neighborhood yup Shania Twain - You're Still The One a cute little ballad pales in comparison to the other 2 shania songs will u be diary'd? perhaps Dolly Parton - Here You Come Again yeah i definitely like the production on this a bit better since it sounds more complete the melody is enjoyable and boppy smile that smile i hope ur safe Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats i don't even need to listen to this song to rank it at the top... a classic that u just have to sing out loud every time you hear it
