Alena Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 my thoughts, round 12 Kevin Abstract - Miserable America - the lyrics are wonderful and really tell a story so many can relate to for sure. even without the lyrics the song is wonderful, well done. never had heard this before but i am glad to have heard it now ^^ OutKast - B.O.B. - it went on for a bit too long for my liking but it was pretty good overall. idk would i go back to it but it wasn't bad uwu. 50 Cent - P.I.M.P. - oop a bop!! really enjoyed this. Kendrick Lamar - Love - kendrick has a few songs i enjoy cause they bop but i really just cannot stand his voice fff. i feel like i'd like this if it was done by someone else. it's cute ig. Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools - i like the 'drank' part, other than that it's decent but i still can't stand his tone. The Notorious B.I.G. - Mo Money Mo Problems - veryyyy iconic. Drake - Nice For What - not exactly my fave by him but it's still a bop. Wale - Lotus Flower Bomb ft. Miguel - Oh whale. Kendrick Lamar - Alright - alright indeed. Travis Scott - Sicko Mode - a bopppp. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ STREAM LOCO & CRAZY IN LOVE ♥
Tom Vercetti Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Kevin Abstract - Miserable America - This was the only song here I didn't know. Enjoyed this a bit. OutKast - B.O.B. - A collapse. Bombastic and kinda legendary. 50 Cent - P.I.M.P. - Not my go-to for 50 but it's still a hit. Kendrick Lamar - Love - It's okay. Def one of my least favorite kendrick singles sadly. The singing just doesn't do it for me at all Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools: Forever a banger. GKMC era is still my favorite kendrick era. The moment I knew he was gonna be a legend in the making. The Notorious B.I.G. - Mo Money Mo Problems: Mhm this still hits me. Haven't forgot how I bombed with a biggie related song last season so i'm gonna try my best to make sure it won't happen again this time. Drake - Nice For What: It's one of his better post views songs but I was never obsessed with the sampling. Compared to what he's dropping now it's decent ig but I still prefer his older thank me later - take care - nothing was the same era of hits. Wale - Lotus Flower Bomb ft. Miguel - A shame about the U because this is def his best song. Kendrick Lamar - Alright: A 10s staple and forever culturally relevant. Travis Scott - Sicko Mode: Very fun song and brings back pleasant 2018 memories. Drake is still the weakest part of the song however.
Psycho Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Kevin Abstract - Miserable America: I really like this, good lyrics and cool beat OutKast - B.O.B.: I'm bopping great production, only complaint is the lyrics are a little hard to make out but its from 2000 so fair enough 50 Cent - P.I.M.P.: Don't really care for this, I wouldn't listen to it again Kendrick Lamar - Love: Lovely, indeed Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools: This is a banger. Get into the Sugababes sample of this The Notorious B.I.G. - Mo Money Mo Problems: The beat and sample are great but kind of overshadow the raps Drake - Nice For What: This is a gay bop WATCH THE BREAKDOWN! Wale - Lotus Flower Bomb ft. Miguel: It's okay, middle of the pack Kendrick Lamar - Alright: Travis Scott - Sicko Mode: This was a pandemic

clue Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Spoiler KEVIN ABSTRACT - MISERABLE AMERICA It's alright. Wasn't really interesting to me. OUTKAST - B.O.B. My favorite Outkast album, but this isn't really one of my favorites on it. It's iconic and all, though. 50 CENT - P.I.M.P. LOVE this song. Absolutely legendary. KENDRICK LAMAR - LOVE. Was my favorite Kendrick song for a minute. It's still good. KENDRICK LAMAR - SWIMMING POOLS (DRANK) A classic. Not one of my favorites from him, though. THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G. - MO MONEY MO PROBLEMS Cute classic. Not something I seek out, though. DRAKE - NICE FOR WHAT He'll never top this. WALE - LOTUS FLOWER BOMB Very corny song. It had GRIP on black girls worldwide at the time though fjkdngf. KENDRICK LAMAR - ALRIGHT His best song? Absolute perfection from top to bottom. TRAVIS SCOTT - SICKO MODE His best song? Absolute perfection from top to bottom. Should've won Best Rap Song that year. Spoiler @Touch It @Kavish @Alena @Noah @Tom Vercetti @Drifloon @Not Like The Movies @ughgabriel @Element @Psycho
Overprotected Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 Spoiler Kevin Abstract - Miserable America - This was very fun production wise, I liked it when the beat changed near the end OutKast - B.O.B. - Ooh this one was a big bop, the instrumental is very energetic and the guitar was very fun 50 Cent - P.I.M.P. - This beat is hot I like it :juicybop: Kendrick Lamar - Love - Sometimes I enjoy his voice, sometimes I don’t. This one is decent, I really liked the sung parts. Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools - I liked the verses a bit more than the chorus ngl, the production was lovely though. The Notorious B.I.G. - Mo Money Mo Problems - Oop a funky bop, I stan Drake - Nice For What - Lauryn sweetie… Wale - Lotus Flower Bomb ft. Miguel - This is very cute, Miguel's voice is sexy Kendrick Lamar - Alright - Massive bop, probably my favorite of his entries Travis Scott - Sicko Mode - I didn’t really bop to this one
ATRL Moderator Element Posted September 26, 2021 ATRL Moderator Posted September 26, 2021 Kevin Abstract - Miserable America This was an interesting new song for me. I enjoyed it, although the lyrics could have used some nuance. OutKast - B.O.B. The energy was fun at times, but I ultimately didn't connect that much with the melody. 50 Cent - P.I.M.P. Enjoyed the classic vibe of this. Kendrick Lamar - Love Hmmm.... this was ok. I'm not crazy about the feature. Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools An absolute CLASSIC The Notorious B.I.G. - Mo Money Mo Problems Old school classic... love the flow. I'm a bit conflicted about the Diana sampling / Kelly vocals bc it feels like a bit of a loophole for the round. Drake - Nice For What A bit of a modern classic yup. I think this was my favorite song from Scorpion. Like MMMP, I'm a bit conflicted about the uncredited sample. Wale - Lotus Flower Bomb ft. Miguel It's pleasant. IDK if I'd revisit. Sorry about the U ugh Kendrick Lamar - Alright I'm not as much a fan of this song as others are. I appreciate it, but I don't really seek it out. Travis Scott - Sicko Mode Another modern classic. This is truly an exhilarating journey from beginning to end.
thecptz Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 Kevin Abstract - Miserable America somehow i have listened to this track once but i forgot about it.. anyways, this is such a cool track i know about kevin from brockhampton and i think this is a great opener to this round and its good. OutKast - B.O.B. oh this is fun and keeps me on my toes on the whole 5 mins of this song.. like its just so chaotic (in a good way, i think) and everything is kinda like punching me in my face! overall, i think its good but its a bit too long and the song could've been cut a bit shorter 50 Cent - P.I.M.P. this is groovy? i think its a big vibe and i rlly enjoyed like how it made me feel. its like a classic rap song we heard like way back but yea, thats why its kinda such a jam and fun. idk what im saying but i enjoyed it. Kendrick Lamar - Love oh definitely. this is so calming and its just a lil vibe i need in this morning (timezones exist.) the verses are great and it took a bit of time until i fully enjoyed it but i did and thats the most important Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools oh a classic. i think this is very easy listening rap song and it doesnt feel overwhelming at all and he still adds like his nice touch to it and that makes the song amazing and become a smash.. very nice pick The Notorious B.I.G. - Mo Money Mo Problems please i think this is fun! its a great use of the sample imo and im pretty much jamming for the whole song its a nice blend of pop rap and a great choice for this round even though its kinda dragging a bit in towards the end.. hehe Drake - Nice For What oh period. i LOVE this song lmaoooo like i cant believe i love this song when i first heard it but i did and ur so amazing for snatching it in time... so proud of you x Wale - Lotus Flower Bomb ft. Miguel N/A Kendrick Lamar - Alright oh please this really is the great blends of genres and its just so good wow... didnt expect it to be this good but it rlly hits me so hard... yea all kendrick entries are amazing for me this round,, so great job Travis Scott - Sicko Mode oh help this is so cool. its so good please i love the switch-up and it rlly got me so excited through the whole song a great ending to this great round... whew!!! Kavish Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 (edited) ⸸ Kavish ⛧ Kritiques ⸸ ~ Kevin Abstract - Miserable America The verses are too literal – reminiscent of Macklemore's "Same Love" – and the sonically-powered chorus is the most revelatory part of his narrative. OutKast – B.O.B. A hip-hop staple. 2:35 onwards with the rock instrumental and the outro is an energetic and musical euphoria. Power music electric revival Power music electric revival :cherry123: 50 Cent – P.I.M.P. The instrumental is infectious and 50 excels in each section, but it gets repetitive due to the minimal tonal change. Still a 2000s classic. :somepoints: Kendrick Lamar – Love The chorus is emotionally stirring and the incorporation of Zacari's "love me" during Kendrick's part solidifies their combined effort. Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools The first Kendrick song that I ever heard and was hooked on, and while he only got better, it still holds up. Nice vibe and vocal effects throughout. The Notorious B.I.G. - Mo Money Mo Problems Drake - Nice For What I'm conflicted because I enjoy both songs, but I was mostly looking for an all-male vocal playlist and this loophole offers a female advantage. It's not your fault though, so good job for tricking the system. :tellha: Wale - Lotus Flower Bomb ft. Miguel Chill song but you can't spell lotus without u. :staryu: Kendrick Lamar – Alright It still graces my workout playlist with the most plays. Great flow and a hopeful movement, with the horns elevating it even more. I keep my head up high I cross my heart and hope to die Lovin' me is complicated Too afraid of a lot of changes I'm alright and you're a favorite Dark nights in my prayers :grimes: Travis Scott - Sicko Mode The switches and gradual element additions are captivating. Drake has too much presence which drags it down a notch, but it's still a symphonious experience overall. ~ Edited September 26, 2021 by Kavish
