The Key to Life on Earth — Zeros

This is great! It's enjoyable and it was a riské so you have my respect. Also Spotify always plays a Marina song after so just take the 12 points :bibliahh:

Last Day On Earth — beabadoobee

Cute song. Does fit the theme. It's quite enjoyable. Good job :clap3:

Somebody's Eyes — Karla Bonoff

Cute song. Fits the theme perfectly imo. Quite the great entry love the guitar solo. Good job I'm giving it points

Finally // beautiful stranger — Halsey

Fits the theme but gosh I really can't stand her ugly *** voice. After all these years she still sounds just as empty as in the beginning. It's Yoü and I without a soul :noparty:

You Can't Outrun 'Em — Jenny Lewis

Okay song. Gets too repetitive so we'll see about the points

Wild Time — Weyes Blood

Cute song. I love her voice and the sound of this album a lot! The length my work well on the album but out of it it just drags a bit. I lose attention towards the end.

Los Angeles —Haim

Fits the theme. It's an okay entry I guess

Animal Noises — beabadoobee

It's cute I guess. Def fits the theme better than the other entry so I guess you won the top 10 entry :michael:

The Day and the Time — Shakira

What a beautiful entry. Wasn't expecting to see Shakira this round specially with this gorgeous song! I prefer the spanish version but I understand you didn't want the xeno girls panning it. Good job :clap3:

Gimme What I Want — Miley Cyrus

Soft rock with those loud drums? It's over...

Only If For A Night— Florence + The Machine

Love this song and love Florence but i wouldn't classify it soft rock at all :gaycat6:

Like I Used To — Sharon Van Etten

Very enjoyable. I guess what's expected from a soft rock song. Getting points!

What I Need — Pearl Charles

Fits the theme. Thought it was a bit boring in the beginning but it grew on me!

Sable On Blond — Stevie Nicks

Period. The queen of soft rock herself. Love the song. The guitar throughout the song is gorgeous! I feel a good placement

The Steps — Haim

Fits the theme. It's okay I guess. The better Haim entry in my opinion.

**** It I Love You — Lana Del Rey

Ummm I understand why you'd send this but I'd say this is psychedelic pop. Calling it soft rock is a bit of a stretch. You could've sent California which has its soft rock elements much more explicit. You might get some points just cuz its lanita del goddess

Prince Johnny - St. Vincent

really love the atmosphere of this song, this is nice

Nothing’s Wrong - HAIM

the instrumentals are good but the song kinda goes nowhere

Loneliness - Birdy

her voice sounds immaculate but i don’t know if it stands out among the other entries

…At The Holiday Party - St. Vincent

i was trying to figure out why it sounds so familiar then i realized Solar Power sounds like this song :skull: anyways, it’s the better St. Vincent song between the two entries IMO

circle the drain - Soccer Mommy

this is cute, so 2000s

Fire Bomb - Rihanna

if my entry isn’t considered “soft pop” then this shouldn’t be too :skull: but anyways, Ri sounds great on this track

Paprika - Japanese Breakfast

her voice is kinda serving Grimes, loves it and i love the trumpet in the instrumentals

Holocene - Zella Day

it’s okay but it’s kinda too long, IMO

the inferior Avril song between the 2 Avril tracks sent

Day 7.5093 - Nilüfer Yanya

Why is everyone caring so much about the specifics of the genre :rip: they were all accepted, judge the songs on their quality not their ability to fit into a box

Literally this...

Do you give it points because it fits? :rip:  Let me send a tragic soft rock song from a male-leading band next time and there will be my 12 points, I guess :rip:

They were all accepted but it isn't thecptz job to see if they are actually "soft rock" or not. If their song fits the theme its the job of each player. This is "General Rock" Round instead of a "Soft Rock" one but I can blame them finding a song that fits this Soft Rock round is not easy at all.  (specially searching for a female voice one since that's what ATRL's like)

Different players different way to give their points. Not need to worry if some players judge other thing apart from what they like. Most of them judge in how much they enjoyed the song, some don't depending of the round.

The point of the game is to send songs that fit the theme first and foremost. If you can't do that ofc I'm going to not rate the song. Once we're past that point I will rank the songs in terms of quality, not preference. I've left a lot of good songs that I love get low points or no points at all because they either weren't the best songs of the round, didn't fit the theme as well as others or didn't fit the theme at all. :giraffe:

wouldn't judging the songs entirely based on how much we like them just defeat the purpose of having a theme in the first place? :skull:

Spoiler

beabadoobee — Last Day on Earth

Couldn’t make out what she was saying most of the time. The “shoo-shoo”s also got annoying.

Karla Bonoff — Somebody’s Eyes

Lyrics are interesting. Not bad.

Halsey — Finally // beautiful stranger

Hear the Yoü and I comparisons in this. It's pleasant!

Jenny Lewis — You Can’t Outrun ‘Em

It’s easy on the ears. The mini instrumental break was cute & it ended where it needed to.

Weyes Blood — Wild Time

The final minute was certainly the most interesting but the rest wasn’t as impressionable as I was hoping it to be. Still, might pop out a point ‘cause I appreciate the risk in its length.

HAIM — Los Angeles

Pretty cute.

beabadoobee — Animal Noises

More comprehensible than her other song here.

Shakira f/ Gustavo Cerati — The Day and the Time

Thought about sending her for a minute, so props to you for having the guts to do so. I also wasn’t familiar with this particular song, so I’m glad I’m hearing it now!

Miley Cyrus — Gimme What I Want

This woulda slaughtered in a fitting round, but deserves to be brushed off here </3

Florence + The Machine — Only If for a Night

Eh, didn’t feel soft to me either. Generally a nice song though.

Sharon Van Etten & Angel Olsen — Like I Used To

Wasn’t feeling the voice of the second singer that came in.

Pearl Charles — What I Need

The Country elements worked well, actually. Nice little surprise.

Stevie Nicks — Stable on Blond

Solid.

HAIM — The Steps

I feel like this mighta been submitted in a different game? - sounds vaguely familiar. I enjoyed it; will probably Top10 it.

Lana Del Rey — **** it I love you

My #1 on NFR! + my #1 for the round <3

Declan McKenna — The Key to Life on Earth

Went a bit harder than I would’ve liked, but it’s a decent song.

St. Vincent - Prince Johnny

• Love Annie so much and this is no exception. Great pick.

Posted

HAIM - Nothing's Wrong

• Oh, purr.

Posted

Birdy - Loneliness

• The back-to-back serve. This is how classic soft rock songs sound but it doesn't sound dated at all. Her voice is also immaculate as always.

Posted

St. Vincent - ...At the Holiday Party

• Hmm, I like it more than her other song. Both stellar songs so I can't complain.

Posted

Soccer Mommy - Circle the Drain

• Lovely song. Love the production tho it's kinda teetering to "dated". But whatever, I like it a lot.

Posted

Rihanna - Fire Bomb

• I love this song but this is clearly (not even remotely) soft rock. I'm torn if I should give this points or not.

Posted

Japanese Breakfast - Paprika

• Hmm, I'm kinda on the fence with this one. On one hand, it's charming. On the other, her voice kinda irritates me.
