The fact that a song that is getting almost 5M streams daily from Spotify alone is not guaranteed for a #1, while the competition is only getting 1M, is a crime. :dies: (stream Favorite Crime :eli: )

I'm surprised that Bighit didnt already release a bunch of Butter remixes like for Dynamite. Are they confident in getting the #1 without remixes?

I think they thought they had it in the bag and didn't need too.

If Butter ends up at #1 Billboard is a damn joke, cause they have rules against mass buying but yet they keep allowing it, and especially since they audited Dua for like 4k sales last week, but they're okay with BTS getting ~200k fraud sales? :skull:

We didn't know what happened to Dua's sale right? It might be a VPN issue.

ARMYs are "systematically" channelling funds to the US so all the purchases are geographically within the US. That might be the difference.

Technicalities technicalities.

At the end of the day, its such unfaithful representation. Tbh I just wish Billboard would just do a 1 iTunes user = 1 copy rule. That way actual user engagement is taken into account.

The H100 isnt a revenue chart, its a popularity chart. A song doing 60M a week in the US losing the #1 to a freefalling song on streaming with massive bulkbuying is an injustice to the point of the H100: popularity.

I don't know why BTS always decides to release on the most competitive week of the year

Like if they released 2 weeks ago this mess shouldn't happen :rip:

I think nobody expected these kinds of numbers from Olivia with G4U, I guess they thought it would have been an empty house for BTS, Olivia announced her album release date before BTS comeback date so it's Hybe/Columbia choice.

The difference between the Dua situation and BTS, is that Dua stans used VPN to buy “from the US”, but Billboard can detect and filter such purchases, which they did with Dua.

On the other hand, The BTS Army crowfund US stans which are the only ones who buy the song, so that all the sales really come from the US. And the Army uses different credit cards and PayPal accounts for each “package” of four sales (the maximum allowed per person by Billboard), so it’s impossible for Billboard to know if someone purchased more than 4 copies.

It's easy for us to say but when you're actually sitting at Billboard, things are not as straightforward no?

- iTunes is not the only exclusive distribution channel. DTC is the trend for a lot of artists too. Measuring purchase per unique consumer is pretty tough esp if the DTC distribution is using email as unique key.

- Billboard is part of the industry and we do know sales is more profit-efficient than streams. They did try to limit with the 4 copies per account at the moment? I guess this number can go down.

Also Butter's spotify stream is not exactly free-falling. Its stream is arguably stable, it just looks minuscule compared to what g4u is doing.

Its honestly tragic. There's no way to bypass this unless they strongly implement the 1 user 1 copy rule.

They should just eliminate digital sales, no one uses it anyway, just stans mass buying songs from their faves. Streaming is the way to go, that way users can only have one account. If they limit the max plays for a day, then it doesn't matter if crazy stans put it on loop 24/7. #NoFRAUDS #NoBOTS #InvestigateButter
