Justin Timberlake’s “Summer Love”.

That said, “Umbrella” went number one on overall radio so it didn’t really matter.

Oh thanks, I’ve never even heard of that song :rip: but like you said Umbrella went #1 overall, so it doesn’t really matter

Really thought Gaga would return to the top with ROM, can't believe it only peaked at #10, only slightly better than SL :skull:

Wasn't it just Ed Sheeren's Perfect that was played on radio and not the Duet?

When it reached #1 on Overall Radio they said they were playing both versions and they counted it as a Radio Songs #1 for Beyoncé too:

The song also lifts 2-1 on the Radio Songs tally, up 7 percent to 139 million audience impressions in the week ending Jan. 7 (with radio playing both Sheeran's original solo version and the duet). Sheeran scores his second Radio Songs leader, following ÷ lead single "Shape of You," which reigned for 12 weeks beginning last Feb. 25.

Beyoncé adds her sixth solo Radio Songs No. 1 and first in nearly nine years. Her previous toppers: "Crazy in Love," featuring JAY-Z (eight weeks, 2003); "Baby Boy," featuring Sean Paul (nine, 2003); "Check on It," featuring Slim Thug (three, 2006); "Irreplaceable" (11, 2006-97); and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" (five, 2009). Beyoncé first ruled Radio Songs as a member of Destiny's Child with four singles (consecutively) in 2000-01: "Say My Name," "Jumpin', Jumpin'," "Independent Women Part 1" and "Survivor."

But for pop songs they only counted it for Ed (by that time Beyoncé was already removed from the credits on the Hot 100)

https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/8094278/ed-sheeran-perfect-number-one-pop-songs-adult-pop-songs

Notably, "Perfect" has reverted to being billed as by Sheeran solo on almost all Billboard charts after five weeks in which Beyoncé received co-lead credit following the release of its duet version. After its first week of release, that version was the most dominant in sales and streams, while also receiving significant airplay, as it was being promoted to radio.

After multiple weeks of the duet no longer contributing the bulk of its sales (or streams or airplay), only Sheeran is now credited (except on Rhythmic Songs, where Beyonce remains co-billed, as that version is still logging notable activity at the format); all versions will continue to contribute to the song's singular chart listing.

----------------------------------------------------------------

So according to that when it reached #1 on Pop radio Beyoncé was already removed from all the charts except Rhythmic Songs...

But for some reason they still counted it for her last year :dies:

@eli's_rhythm

She’s only had two since 1992.

• If, Again, Runaway peaked at #2.

• Because Of Love, Doesn’t Really Matter, STCML peaked at #3.

Ironically, all of her #2 Pop hits were blocked by Mariah Carey.

If < Dreamlover

Again < Hero

Runaway < Fantasy

It makes sense for them to only count Pop for Ed Sheeran. I mean, the single was already #2 on Radio Songs before the Duet. It's interesting that they mention that radio were playing both versions but not the ratio; because if Ed was already #2 on Radio Sonfs, I think it leaves little to the imagination to say that it was still his version playing mostly. Maybe that's why Beyonce only gets credit on Rhythmic Songs, her version most likely made significant impact there?

I'm going by official information, as it appears on Billboard's own website, and there, Britney is not credited for S&M.

She never should have been credited on the radio charts in the first place. We all know most radio stations that were playing Perfect for months wouldn’t suddenly drop it in one week and play the Perfect Duet more instead

And now even with their own arbitrary rules, it looks like Beyonce isn’t even credited with the Pop radio #1

Considering Beyoncé's career today, I always forget how constantly she was played on the radio growing up in the 2000's :rip:

All these icons on the list :cries: the fact most of them will never see the top (or even top 10) again :cries:

34+35 is coming so Ari will have 8 soon. Levitating probably has well so Dua will move up too.

Camila with 5

Where is this info. from?

There was no existential Pop radio chart pre-1991.

There was only a seperate AC and R&B radio format as well as the overall Hot 100 Airplay chart which tabulated airplay from all stations (AC predominantly) which, as a whole, was not a lot especially in the 1980’s. Also, Billboard only debuted the radio chart in 1984.

That is, unless, this is Radio & Records data which was/is completely different to Billboard?

Yes,  that's where this information comes from. You just can't use Billboard as the defacto chart when talking about the legends (Madonna,  Janet,  Whitney, Mariah, Prince).

I know that. You can’t use BB when talking about Bee Gees, Stevie Wonder, Olivia Newton John, Elton John, Diana Ross, Donna Summer etc. also considering there was no official radio chart in the 1970’s but, of course, everyone does.

That said...

It’s a shame BB waited until the 1990’s to commence these charts.

BB began formulating Soundscan in 1987. The fact that it took four/five years to finalise. They were always so behind are still are in most cases, just like how they waited until February 2005 to incorporate Digital sales onto the Hot 100 despite debuting the digital charts in March 2003.  :toofunny2:
