But it’s definitely a super fun bop. Can easily picture myself blasting this and jamming out to it with my friends on a drive. Lady Gaga - Poker Face Still a bop, but I don’t really find myself super Into it anymore. Maybe it’s because I played this SO much when I was younger and it doesn’t do much for me anymore as a result. This also doesn’t really give me road trip vibes personally. The Beatles - Here Comes the Sun I’ve always found this to be one of The Beatles’ most overrated songs, but it’s still very cute. And it fits the theme very well - a very recognizable classic that just screams driving down a highway on a relaxed summer day. Magdalena Bay - Venice I guess it’s cute, but I’m stuck on the fact that I don’t think it fits the theme well at all. I guess it’s sort of “vibey”? But this just sounds too much like background music to feel like a strong road trip song that everyone would be jamming out or vibing to. ------ John Legend - All Of Me I mean I guess you get points for it fitting the theme really well because it’s definitely a super lovey love song. But it’s always been way too corny to me. I think I maybe liked it for a week when it first came out, and then it got annoying. Lykke Li - Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone I’m really not a fan of her vocal tone on this, there are a few nice moments but most of it is very grating. I really like the melody and lyrics though, so a mixed bag here overall. Cigarettes After Sex - Heavenly This is very nice. It’s really soothing and I didn’t get bored even with how mellow the song is. The whole song is just so relaxing to listen to. Dua Lipa - Love Again YUPP!!!! One of my favourite songs on Future Nostalgia and one of my favourite songs of 2020. Everything is about this is pure excellence. ------ Lorde - Ribs Man I love this song so much. I know this sounds super basic and cliche, but I can relate to it hard and it emotionally hits me every time. Probably not my all-time favourite Lorde song, but it’s definitely up there. Zola Jesus - Bound This is interesting. I kept going back and forth between thinking it was cool and thinking it was kind of a mess. I’m left not really knowing how I feel about it. But I don’t think I disliked it! Brandy - I Wanna Be Down It’s cute, although it starts to feel VERY unnecessarily long and repetitive. I’m personally not sure what separates it from a lot of other similar sounding female R&B songs to give it “favourite song of all time” status. But I did enjoy it overall. Selena Gomez - The Heart Wants What It Wants I’m not gonna lie, I’m kinda screaming at this choice. I actually think this song is quite cute and I enjoy it. It’s just such an… odd and random choice for a “favourite song of all time” prompt djkfhgk. I like it though so I guess the choice worked! ------ Megan Thee Stallion - Big Ole Freak A very solid bop. There’s a lot of Megan songs I’ve heard that I prefer to this, but this is still pretty enjoyable. Megan just generally has a really captivating flow that makes most of her songs fun to listen to. PJ Harvey - Down by the Water The mixing on this is weird and made the listening experience a bit less enjoyable. But other than that, I enjoyed this quite a lot. It definitely captured my attention through the cool moments in the instrumental and the mesmerizing vocal/melody. Dreams We've Had - it all feels the same Yeah sorry but this really wasn’t for me. It went from being very boring to just being a bunch of disorganized noise. There’s a good song somewhere in here, but it’s buried very deep under that mess of an instrumental. And on top of all that, it’s WAY too long. Vanjess - Come Over Whew ok a bop. This grabbed my attention immediately and was such an enjoyable combination of fun and chill. This might be favourite of all the songs in this finale that I hadn’t heard before this. Good luck to all 4 of you in this finale. ROAD TRIP Hide contents Kesha - Tik Tok ABSOLUTE classic and one of the songs that I adore singing along to while driving!! Perfect choice. Lady Gaga - Poker Face Ugh yet another pop classic. Really strong choices here! The Beatles - Here Comes the Sun I admire your boldness in sending an older song -- it's really such a nostalgic and warm track, and it evokes that summer road trip vibe. Love it. Magdalena Bay - Venice This is a cute song, but whew the other girls really stomped on you with their choices here. LOVE SONGS Hide contents John Legend - All Of Me A bit of an overrated hit back when it was huge on the charts... but it's actually a really sweet song and p decent, I will admit. Lykke Li - Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone Good, but nothing that really took it to the next level. Her voice bordered on grating at times. Cigarettes After Sex - Heavenly I actually liked this!! I think it keeps growing on you after each listen. Dua Lipa - Love Again BOP CLASSIC YES. One of the best songs Dua has put out -- love the sample and the whole vibe. Refreshing after these slower love songs. FAVORITES Hide contents Lorde - Ribs A truly exquisite piece -- one of Lorde's best lyrically and sonically! Zola Jesus - Bound I wanted to like this, but it ultimately became a bit repetitive and I zoned out during it (in 2 separate listens). Brandy - I Wanna Be Down I liked this quite a lot. It had a classique R&B vibe that you can't go wrong with! Selena Gomez - The Heart Wants What It Wants Honestly, I forgot how cute this song is... I kind of forgot about it but I really like it. Selena does a great job with making interesting melodies out of like 2.5 notes. ANYTHING BUT POP Hide contents Megan Thee Stallion - Big Ole Freak I like it enough but I feel like I've heard much stronger tracks from Megan honestly. PJ Harvey - Down by the Water Absolutely... not. Dreams We've Had - it all feels the same This was quite beautiful rly. The atmosphere was so immersive and well-crafted.
