Green Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Which ones are the most undercertified female album artists in the US? Let's compare their known sales and SPS and their current certifications according to the RIAA: Janet Jackson Current RIAA certifications (million albums/units): 26 Eligible for: 37 million units Undercertified: 11 million units (at least) Janet Jackson Album Current RIAA Certification At least Eligible for: Control 5x Platinum 7x Platinum Rhythm Nation 1814 6x Platinum 8x Platinum Janet 6x Platinum 8x Platinum Design of a Decade 1986-1996 2x Platinum 4x Platinum The Velvet Rope 3x Platinum 4x Platinum All for You 2x Platinum 3x Platinum Damita Jo Platinum Platinum 20 Y.O. Mother Earth Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 According to my calculations, both "2 On" and Aquarius are eligible for Diamond, but RCA refuses to update.
Cryptique Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 i'm still convincing myself that maybe they're waiting for The Fame to hit the 10M mark before the mass certification it's currently at 9.8-9.9M i guess Gaga's Singles cert is another story
Green Posted July 17, 2019 Author Posted July 17, 2019 By the way some of these stats could be even higher. For example Teenage Dream has 8.5 million units based only on the singles certifications and the album pure sales. But with the SPS of the rest of the album tracks it could easily be over 9x Platinum.

State of Grace. Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 The Fame being 3x Platinum when its almost ****ing DIAMOND Gaga’s singles certs are a mess too. ugh I wish the US had automatic certifications like the UK.
tiagol88 Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Do you have that for Madonna? COADF is eligible for 2 x Platinum Hard Candy might be able to get a Platinum certification probably. You Can Dance or was it Who's That Girl (the soundtrack) was rumored to be able to have a 2 x Platinum by now. The Immaculate Collection could have 12 x Platinum if i remember it right Ray Of Light was rumored to be eligible for a 5th platinum one as well. But i'm not sure about most of these. Janet is so undercertified i-

cityfolk Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Ariana Grande: Yours Truly: certified 1x, eligible 1x (same) My Everything: certified 2x, eligible 4x (according to various stan accounts, not sure - with the single SPS and album pure sales it's around 3.5 million) Dangerous Woman: certified 1x, eligible 2x Sweetener: certified 1x, eligible 1x (same) Thank U, Next: certified 1x, eligible 2x Certified: 6 Million Eligible: 10 Million (with Dangerous Woman soon to be 3x Platinum eligible and Sweetener 2x Platinum eligible.... Yours truly will one day reach 2x Platinum eligible with Ariana boosting it's recurrent stats slightly with each release ) Also for Taylor, 1989 is Diamond eligible, reputation 4x Plat eligible, and Red & Taylor Swift are probably both approaching 8x Platinum I'm surprised Crazy In Love is eligible for 6x Plat and not higher, wtf (I'm a stan of her)

Mr. Wonder Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Janet should be embarrassed. RN1814 is closer to 9x platinum. It has moved 8.5 million as of 2011. And to think Janet's numbers are just hard sales without streaming added.
Temporal Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Kelly Clarkson Current RIAA certifications (million albums/units): 12 Eligible for: 16.5 million units Undercertified: 4 million units (at least) Kelly Clarkson Album Current RIAA Certification At least Eligible for: Thankful 2x Platinum 3x Platinum Breakaway 6x Platinum 7x Platinum My December 1x Platinum 1x Platinum All I Ever Wanted none 1x Platinum Stronger 1x Platinum 2x Platinum Greatest Hits: Chapter One 1x Gold 1x Platinum Wrapped in Red 1x Platinum 1x Platinum Piece by Piece 1x Gold 1x Gold Meaning of Life none 1x Woodchip Total 12 16.5 Guess it could be worse, but **** All I Ever Wanted not being certified after a decade is so aggravating
G.U.Y_Del_Rey Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 The Fame only being certified 3x Platinum Why is Gaga's label so inept
robbyds Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 I think Janet is at 40x platinum. Celine is also quite undercertified I heard.

slw84 Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Britney has sold 40m digital singles without streams and only has about 5.5’m certified album wise: im taking a break from work so I can’t convert using the spreadsheet but baby one more time current 14x plat not eligible for upgrade oops 10x platinum possibly eligible for 11x platinum britney 4x platinum eligible for 5x platinum a reach would be 6x platinum but 5 is on safe distance in the zone 2x platinum eligible for 4x platinum blackout is properly at platinum circus is platinum eligible for 3x platinum Femme fatale is platinum eligible for 2x platinum Britney Jean and glory are properly certified/uncertified gh mp is platinum eligible for 3x platinum if they pull an Eminem with the gh scenario the singles collection is eligible for gold based on 3 alone but if they pull an Eminem scenario that means it can go platinum with a reach of 2x platinum but most likely platinum so somewhere between 9-12m please confirm or correct: @Eternium

Mariah and Madonna are only .5m off each other currently I wonder how far off they are based on eligibility
slw84 Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 @Green this is great would be Nice if you could creat a consolidated master post for the main pop girls. you organized it quite well for your one example kworb is shaking

COADF is eligible for 2 x Platinum the us really dropped her after music isn’t it “diamond” ww? its almost like the opposite of mariah’s teom which sold about the same as coadf but the majority of those sales are domestic. but to be fair, madonna is the most GLOBAL pop girl, only rivaled by céline, whitney & rihanna tbh. ot: janet and bey
TKO Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 TD should be 9x platinum Maybe she's waiting for that diamond cert

If both had their certifications in order, their gap would be even bigger. If Madonna played her cards right she could even surpass Barbra Streisand. Isn't she like 71 x Platinum overall? Madonna could be at least 69 x Platinum for sure and some others are in doubt.
Eternium Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Britney BOMT - 14x P - 14x P OIDIA - Diamond - 11x P Britney - 4x P - 5x P ITZ - P - 4x P GH:MP - P - 2x P Blackout - P - P Circus - P - 3x P TSC - NA - Gold FF - P - 2x P BJ - G - G Glory - NA - NA Britney’s certified 33.5x P but should be 41x P. Keep in mind that they can split catalog SPS between the parent album and compilation albums. So BOMT (the single) could legitimately have its units split between the parent album until 2003 then the first compilation album until 2009 and then the second compilation album. Her team is stupid and I truly believe they’d do that.
