Delicate, her last single, was literally huge on radio.

That was a paid-for hit, courtesy of her label. All the other Reputation singles were paid dust.

Even without the stunts she probably would've managed to get to #2. All of that was a complete waste of time.

Thats why id didnt make sense to act like she had to debut at #1 this week. The problem is the initial reception from the public wasnt good... and many people were thinking Taylor absolutely has to go to #1 with a first single. I think this is faulty thinking by Taylors handlers.

Or it was a GP-friendly song that got good callout scores so radios kept playing it? :skull:

Ok, I like you hun, but Delicate literally had great callout scores throughout its run. Payola isn't gonna get you anywhere if the GP doesn't like the songs. Just look at Tori Kelly 4 years ago.

Shallow got great callout scores and started collapsing on radio the next day. The fact you think callout scores mean something. :rip:

Shallow didn’t get good callout scores until it’s second wind on radio after the Oscars (on its first wind it got bad ones) which by then it had run its course as it had been out for 6 months. Educate yourself, call out scores most certainly do matter.

Yeah Shallow had bad call out scores on its first run and then it got dropped. It only got it's second wind after the Oscars.

It started to have very good callouts after the 2nd wind (topping the Hot 100) but continuously falling every week after on callouts.

It's calllout scores kept getting better each week, while the updates were slightly decreasing. Once it debuted on pop callout scores with great numbers, it started falling hard on radio. They'll play what they're payed to play, callout scores don't matter, but keep telling yourself otherwise.

Secondly, you completely ignored my second point that it had run its course on radio by the time it’s second callouts had come, the fact that it even re-charted (and raised it’s peak) on Pop and callouts in the first place is amazing, and shows how much buzz surrounded the song after the Oscars. Using an exception’s run to refute all of callout scores’ validity is boring, you willing yourself to believe they don’t doesn’t make it true when anyone who actually follows radio knows they do matter.

That's just not true though. :rip: Love Lies was #1 on callout scores for WEEKS and it took it 24 weeks to top pop radio, while it peaked only at #3 overall. Then you have songs like 7 rings who were always somewhere around #5 on callouts, yet were HUGE on radio. BUWYG is #11 on callouts, it's at 94.2M AI and it's still gaining. :skull:

Also funny how when 7 rings started dropping, it suddenly had a slight boost so it could go #1 even though it was falling on callouts. Wonder how you explain that. If you really think radio cares about what people wanna hear, you're delusional. They'll play whoever pays them.

Omg callouts aren’t the exact equivalent of radio, there are other factors as well. Love Lies topped POP callouts, and it took forever to climb radio because it didn’t debut on callouts, and was by two artists who hadn’t ever had a major hit on radio. Once it did debut on callouts it gained fast. It didn’t do as well on other formats because it didn’t top those format’s callout scores, hence a #3 peak.

Ariana got to #1 because her callout were very good, which #5 is lmao, and because it was huge on other formats like streaming and sales, and because she’s the hottest pop girl atm, same can be said for BUWYGFIB. Plus radio formats have a tendency to push whatever song it closest to #1 to the top to have a healthy rotation of #1s, you see this all the time.

It really isn’t hard to understand, I don’t know why you have this random vendetta against radio :toofunny3:

Callouts absolutely DO matter, they are a good measure for longevity on radio.

Ariana, for example, doesn’t typically get great callout scores (not tragic either) which is why her songs usually reach the top spot then have terrible/poor longevity afterwards.

And inb4 someone screams “payola!!!” at her songs reaching #1 on Pop despite that, its simply because they were doing extremely well/okay on other metrics (she was smahing on streaming) and of course she’s Ariana... the IT girl lately.

Yeah, no. You’re basically telling me that great callout scores don’t guarantee radio success, yet they are the reason why Delicate (and other songs) did great on radio. Maybe I’d agree with you if Delicate had streams or sales to back it up, but it didn’t pull any big numbers on any platform other than radio.

Love Lies did better than Delicate on callouts overall and even during its FIVE weeks at #1 on callouts Delicate got better updates on pop than Love Lies. How’d you explain that? :)

What are you talking about Love Lies went #1 on Pop, what more do you want :dies:

Also as an aside Delicate did do well on other formats, it was just before it took off on radio.
