#1s by solo black females this decade:

2010: “Rude Boy” - Rihanna

2010: “Only Girl (In The World)” - Rihanna

2012: “Diamonds” - Rihanna

2017: “Bodak Yellow” - Cardi B

2019: “Without Me” - Halsey

Adding duets and features would include more songs by these artists + showings by Beyoncé and Janelle.

Black excellence, not everybody has that :clap3:

“ I've loved and I've lost but that's not what I see”

Ariana Grande, “thank u, next”

No one wants to wake up to the news I woke up to this morning. No one. I was preparing my coffee, turning on wi-fi and the first thing I read is: “Ariana Grande leaves the top spot on the Hot 100”. I blinked my eyes countless times and I went on twitter just to see more and more posts about it. I couldn’t believe it. My Ariana Grande dream was over and there I was at 8AM sitting in my kitchen looking at the screen of my iPhone.

I know this may sound a bit too much but… Yes. Tears started falling from my eyes and they wouldn’t stop. I don’t consider this to be an over dramatic reaction like many of you could easily consider. I look at it as unconditional love, dedication and passion. Something unexplainable, no one can translate love into words or even admiration. Some people get your attention and you don’t know why. And while I am fully aware that thank u, next' is not over, it's just down to two, I also am aware that it’s never going to be the same.

Just remember that until Cardi got hers, Janelle was the only non-Rihanna black female with a number one, and then remember what her contribution to said number one was :skull:

By your harsh critcisms of Ariana speaking about her relationships, wouldn’t you think this isn’t an organic number 1 either considering she cast a G-Eazy look a like for the music video and the song speaks extensively about her past with him?

Wow, congrats :clap3:

I've just checked and last time we had two solo female pop songs back to back on #1 was in 2014 with Taylor's SIO and Meghan's AATB.

This is false actually, it happened in 2017 with Taylor’s LWYMMD and Cardi’a BY.

OT: Halsey is a main pop girl with organic hits!

:clap3: God damn, this is an organic hit. I'm not crazy over it anymore, but glad it's getting its time to shine. A solo #1 and also apart of one of the longest #1's too. Glad I got onto the Halsey bandwagon.

The song doesn’t mention any names, which was my criticism about tyn.

as well, WM is #1 due to sales and airplay. Not streaming. Especially not yt streams versus tyn.

Does it matter if you’re mentioning names if the headline is “Halsey Casts G-eazy look a like”? The song wasn’t sugarcoating what happened at all or left anything up to the imagination.

and you do realize TUN & WM are both very close in airplay & sales right?
