I think callout scores are largely ignored by radio programmers to be honest. Yall give em too much credit

Please me is just a very bad song

False.

Without Me, Girls Like You, Scars to Your Beautiful had very good callouts and it reflected. Despacito and Shape of You as well

same for Love Lies, High Hopes, Better Now, Mine, Better etc.

also another example: Without Me released on October 4th still #2 on pop thanks to insanely good callouts.

Another smash song (TUN) released on November 4th "only" #10 on pop because of mediocre callouts.

Also bad callouts have probably killed songs like IMF, No Brainer, Natural, Taki Taki and NBLAH on pop radio.

Better should be gaining faster :biblio:

Hopefully Close To Me stalls out and then Better, Sweet But Physco, Dancing With A Stranger, Suck and Break Up with you girlfriend I’m bored all take turns at #1

Truth

And songs like Pillowtalk somewhat debuted at the bottom but greatly improved

I think callouts partially influence the peak of the song, but they are really decisive in terms of its longevity.

That tanked everywhere long before it tanked on callouts tho

Wrong. Callouts truly killed it on radio and it didn't recover from there despite its streaming.

Halsey has another song (Eastside) smashing for months with Without Me. that one has great callouts as well.

Halsey has only one bad callout score in radio and that was New Americana

Closer, Bad At Love etc seemed had great ones as well.

Not sure what we're arguing. radio is obviously not gonna completely drop ariana just because of the callous (like hello, she's ariana) but her songs also won't recieve the longevity of songs with great callouts like Without Me

True. That's probably why radio has been dropping Ariana's songs fast despite of reaching a high peak.

exactly. plus her songs' callouts haven't exactly been tragic.

just checked and neither received terrible callouts at all? I Like It was like 9/16 for example, just average. I don't recall it having insane longevity like Without Me, Love Lies, GLY etc either so what's your point exactly?

also we're talking about massive streaming hits (aka popular songs) so pop radio was kinda forced to play them (same for Ariana's songs).
