It has happened many times. Be glad the label is doing it, it's a tool they can use and they are using it. It will be amazing if they go #1 regardless of how they did it.

!!!

Pillowtalk got the same last minute push last year and it went #1 on Pop thanks to that.

How is it "manupulating" if I request a song that I would like to hear

I hope this answers your question regarding "manipulation".

The song is getting that push because of the label not because a fan is requesting the song 100 times lmao. Some of you are so clueless.

So I guess all the other fanbases that do request are manipulating radio? Please... come out of here with that nonsense.

Lemme check. Hmm. Seems like Water Under The Bridge is losing spins.

As it should, it's a 4 month old single. It should be plummeting down the radio charts at the moment. :flower:

Requesting to 30-50 different radio stations you're not listening to at all might be considered "manipulating" radio... or not?

Yet IDWLF is 3 months old and it's still on the rise. Plus it's a soundtrack single.

Why shouldn't it still rise? Fans are requesting it to 50 different radio stations, it's discounted on itunes again... I don't see any other way for it than to rise.

Also I don't get your point about "it's a soundtrack single"... CSTF is also a soundtrack single, debuted at no.1 on Hot 100, and was at no.13 last week in its 43rd week on the chart. How is it being a soundtrack single important for its performance?

Soundtrack single is not promoted as much as a lead single. It only gets a ****ty video and no live performance.

Exactly, you should try it too sometimes. WUTB is a great song, it would have deserved your support. Also, apparently the listeners seem to like it since it's still doing well on all metrics despite the movie, the main promo, being irrelevant now after it's been out for over a month.

Why should I care how WUTB performs when Adele paid dust to it and doesn't care about it at all? Man, I've been scratching my head in this thread for the last hour, it's gonna start bleeding. :fan:

Anyway, hope IWDLF gets to that no.1 next week. I'm rooting for her (Zayn was not instrumental in the song's success in any way, as I've been told).

And did Water Under the Bridge get promoted AT ALL? :skull: You are coming for the wrong song, sis.

WUTB did AMAZING in radio, being the 4th single of 25 and having absolutely no promo at all.

CSTF got a vast boost after the Oscar's performance, which over 25M people watched.

Taylor's 4th single got no promo other than a music video and reached #1 on radio.

It was still in the top 30 the previous week, its 42nd on the chart. :flower:

Mess at you comparing the most try hard attempt to get a #1 song to the most snubbed song in Adele discography.

I dont know why this thread is back to the same old "Adele vs Taylor", but I think its time to stop this.

You're talking about one of the most media hyped music videos of all times which premiered on national television and also the song had a remix with a celebrity rapper?  I'm not surprised it went no.1 on radio.

Are you talking about Bad Blood not being promoted???

She literally released movie like promo posters for the video and it was an entirely new version of the song t which the video premiered at the BBMA...it was hyped to hell and back

It was treated as a lead single and the radio updates kind of prove it too...King Kendrick got and  #1 so I and intellectual complaining (nor is there a point to)

You can't compare it to WUTB :skull:

If we're talking about minimal promotion, it's better to compare Wildest Dreams, the FIFTH single off 1989 which only got a music video and zero promo. It went No.1 on Radio as well :)

Zero promo? Premiering a video in a award show is not promo? Christ...

The video was premiered during the VMAs' PRE-SHOW. I'm just pointing out that we shouldn't be comparing Bad Blood to WUTB if Wildest Dreams exists, not saying that it had less promo than WUTB...

WUTB is the definition of no promo. She's done literally nothing for it which is fine.

Also tf is that mess about manipulating radio stations? They don't have to listen to requests :deadbanana:

ONCE AGAIN, SHUT UP ABOUT ADELE AND TAYLOR.

Take it to SYG or some Adele vs. Taylor thread. Ya'll are tired.

And @Agenor requesting radio stations to play a song isn't manipulating radio, it's one of the ways to interact with radio, it has always been that way. Radio stations play songs people want to hear, and one of the ways radio finds that out is by requests. And to speak specifically to IDWLF since you seem SUPER invested in it's performance, I can tell how big a Swiftie you are :heart2:, it also does well on the callout charts, most of all of Pop. People who listen to Pop radio want to hear the song. That, combined with it's discount pushing it to the top 4 of iTunes, something that many discounted songs can't do, gives radio more incentive to play it since it's obvious people like the song.
