Tell that to your fellow swiftie @WonderstruckFR

Omg you still didn't get it, i dont know if it's funny or sad. :dies::dies::dies:

It is not a matter if i want or don't want a song to be the 2nd single (i love RFI btw), it is just that we dont have ANY OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT atm, do you understand this or is it still too complicated? :rip:

The 2nd single could be RFI (even if that would be super strange imo) or another song coming soon (the most logic option), we still don't know yet.

You don’t need an official announcement for a song to be deemed a single.

It's a promotional/US radio single since its release.

We have no clue about the 2nd official single atm.

I guess this whole debate just depends on what you consider to be a single, and clearly we all have different thoughts about that.

The 2nd single from the most awaited album of the year would have an announcement, a video (or at least an audio posted on her Vevo Channel :rip:) , and would be sent to WW radio stations.

Personally I think they are milking RFI on US radio cause it is doing well already and LWYMMD collapsed, but the second single will come soon.

We should know about all of this very soon though. RFI could be the second single, i just dont think so and we dont have any kind of confirmation so that's it.

wooo hopefully RFI is the second single and gets an amazing video. Everyone who’s heard loves it and it has potential to be Taylor’s best hit

It's not gonna be that bad because its rise to no1 was natural and organic.

3pm EST and Taylor already at -306 spins. Slay!

I've been glued to this thread the past week or so, who'd have thought six months ago that Taylor Swift would be experiencing such a messy era?

@Mediabase do you think SNS is still gonna be #1 tomorrow?

wait so did she beat kesha's record? and didn't she only get that because die young was most popular when the school shooting happened

Posted

Die Young was very popular and had great call out scores. It was gonna remain high on pop radio for many weeks. The school massacre happened so it is unfair to compare it to Die Young. But she's gonna break the record anyway. I'm glad it's not gonna be Kesha any more who has the record because it was so unfair to her.

I like Taylor okay, but having studied and written about the Country Chart (and Active Rock, Alternative, AAA, and Christian Rock), when a song with poor metrics (sales and streaming dropping, and awful call out scores), hits #1, there's no doubt radio was paid to play Look so it could reach #1, which will be followed by a record setting drop from #1 on the T 40 chart.

As big of an artist Swift is, there's no excuse for her label paying stations to boost her song. Nor is there any excuse for needing to discount her song on ITunes just to get a third week at #1.

Like Katy Perry, Swift felt the need to lead off her album with a "message" song. And yes, Look outperformed Rhythm by a large margin. But, when Perry tried to go back to her regular types of songs, the GP wasn't there for them, and Wisdom's era ended far faster than Perry had wanted.

Later this morning, we will see how well Gorgeous held up on Spotify, which I don't think will come close to the first day of streaming. While Ready and Gorgeous are supposedly just "promo" tracks, their performance could mean Swift's alienated the GP, and, as with Perry, Swift going back to what the GP expected from both artists could be too late to salvage the era.

Yes, I still think Reputation will outsell Wisdom substantially, but I can't see her album even reaching Red's sales, even with SPS included. I hope I turn out to be wrong about Swift. But, I think at least partially to her County roots would work well for her. Reba McEntire's 30+ year career clearly shows ageism isn't prevalent, even for women, in that format.

And I also want Perry to return with a successful album. However, I do think Perry should return to the Alternative-leaning One Of The Boys sound, as ageism is less prevalent in the Rock formats as well.

This was unintentionally hilarious and I can't stop laughing

I'm done :lmao:

-550+ for Tay Tay tomorrow.

She already broke the record for the biggest drop in a single day with that -910 update on Friday.

Tomorrow she will break the record for the biggest negative bullet in the history of the mediabase charts.

Queen is breaking all these records like there's no tomorrow!

The way these radios are getting rid of LWYMMD like it's some disease to the point that it's about to break the record of a song blacklisted after a mass shooting.

The second single must be that good and that anticipated.
