Damn @ LWYMD :rip: Hope she has a radio-friendly smash waiting in the wings. I still don't get the Ready For It debacle :rip:

LWYMD was very overexposed. Some of the casual listeners said that song seems to be "annoying" after huge explosion of LWYMD on the radio. Song and video were played everywhere. It was very predictable. By the way, song isn't soulful or joyful enough to be clungy with people's feeling. Same about HIAM, which had strong airplay lead and huge drops after #3 peak on Pop.

I still think that empowerment or pure party songs has bigger chances to stabilize on airplay after massive spinouts.

I have a feeling Taylor’s next single is gonna lowkey flop on radio too thanks to the overexposure of Look and Ready... She should wait for November, a week before the album, to drop the third single. Let both songs die and have a little breathing space.

what is the longest stay in top 10 radio?

SOY must either be number one or very close to it

Good question. It’s been top ten since February and it’s now October (so 8 months now :deadbanana3:). That would require some research, but SoYdefintely has to be in the top 3 or #1 by now. I don’t know of any other song that could have resided that long in the top ten.

Iris by Goo Goo Dolls spent 18 weeks at #1 alone; No Doubt’s Dont Speak spent 16 weeks at #1. Not sure how long they stayed in the top ten but it’s probdbly close to 25 weeks or more.

I checked some of them:

Don't Speak: 28 weeks

Iris: 29 weeks

Truly Madly Deeply: 29 weeks

Torn: 32 weeks

Shape of you: 36 weeks :deadbanana:

Taylor shouldn't release a second single at all till the album is out.

She is way too overexposed and I am still shocked LWWYMD didn't go #1.

Despite it not being soulful, it is a goddamn Taylor's song, I expected it to be atop within weeks.

Either way, she did great and we shouldn't take this as an underperformance, the general public moves on from pop songs when it comes to pop girls nowadays.

It was hit almost solely driven on star power.

As much as i dont like that, SOY will be seen as the biggest hit of the century when it's done on the charts.

bigger than UF

Let's see if SOY is still in the ITunes Top 200 and YT Top 50 three years after its release, for which UF is just a month away from both, before coming to that conclusion. ☺

Wtf. Not the "overexposed" bs already again :dies::dies:

GP doesn't love the song which was very expected. Nothing more to it

The song was pretty atrocious and self-absorbed... RFI didn't do very well either after its strong first week. Things don't look so bright for Ms. Swift right now. Maybe she has a more generic and radio-appealing song next. We'll have to wait and see.

UF had 26 weeks T 10 weeks. I'm not sure how many other songs spent six months in the Top 10 in Airplay, but barely any is probably that answer. How about How Do I Live and Closer?

Adele - Hello 20 weeks

One Sweet Day - 21 weeks

Justin Bieber - Love Yourself - 23 weeks

We Belong together - 25 weeks

Closer 27 weeks

Smooth 28 weeks

It seems like Shape of you has a record here.

I’m surprised to see that HAC isn’t being that receptive to LSS.

Agree. But HIAM was pop perfection. Too bad Britney was in an awful head space in 2011,and pretty much ruined HIAMs chances of becoming a hit.

Ot.

Look What You Made Me Do got horrible reaction on radio all around the world. Look at every single major country. It stalled and collapsed on radio. Australia, UK, Canada... Everywhere. And I am not gonna even talk about countries in continental Europe like France, Germany, Italy, Spain etc..

I am sorry but it was just a bad song with a horrible message. What was she thinking?

The 1989 hype allowed it to hit top5 on pop radio in the US at least.

She felt like she needed to make a statement. Whenever an artist starts doing this, it results in their downfall.

Yes sorry but what the hell are they talking about?  :toofunny2:

How can she be overexposed? She only has a combined 140m AI with both the new singles. That's really not a lot at all. And it's only been for like 5 weeks.

Even if you add in recurrent airplay from Wildest Dreams, IDWLF, Style and Bad Bloood, she's still only at 180M. That's still less than the airplay from 1 radio smash.

Posted

I'm not surprised as LWYMMD stalling. It really is like Meghan's No. Not exactly a radio friendly song, but hype driven to the top 15 easily.
