the current state of the world could have been avoided if radio would have gut flowers and calm down on time

At least Flowers, Kill Bill, and Die For You each got triple digit negative updates this morning, so that's progress. If only Calm Down and Creepin can join in these losses, so Sure Thing can go #1 and things can return somewhere closer to normal.

"Karma" gains are amazing to see, it's unusual to see radio so supportive with an artist's 3rd/4th single, unless if it goes viral/there's a success streaming story behind it. I miss the old days when radio used to set the agenda, or at least partially.

I miss the days when Pop radio actually had variety, and didn’t play the same 3-5 songs incessantly for months on end.

I mean Karma has amazing streams.

Last Night's gains decreased a bit today, +1.15 is still pretty good but its +1.5 streak ended. I know if its a 1 day deal or if its really slowing down, almost 20 mil audience behind #4 Calm Down. LN probably needs to do a remix sooner than later to get much beyond where it is now. Getting to both T5 Radio & #1 Hot 100 without a remix hasn't happened since 1983, so its already outperformed every other Country crossover of the last 40 years in this manner.

I was not expecting Pop radio to literally swarm Karma like this. It’s performing like a brand new single

Karma is currently at #42 on US Spotify, only two spots difference with Post Malone's new single for example, so it's doing more than fine. When Taylor acknowledges it as a single and releases the music video, it'll even move further up for sure.

my guess is Calm Down will peak within the the next 7 days . it will be officially number #1  for the week on Sunday and after that it should drop a bit.

It is possible to remain stable if callouts are good enough?

Weird observation but I've just noticed that EVERY single station that's pushing Jaded is not owned by iHeart.

0 of the 20 stations that added Jaded this week were owned by iHeartMedia. The stations playing this song are all owned by secondary companies, which explains the low audience.

The more I look into it, the more obvious it gets. Does anyone have insight on this? Is it a normal thing for new singles or could something be going on? :deadbanana2:

It's not something totally new, you could consider the iHeartMedia stations were fast enough to jump on it and have already added it a couple of weeks ago. Oftenly, you'll see stations by the same company adding certain song at the same time. However, you've pointed out another interesting situation, from the top 20 stations playing the song, none belongs to iHeartMedia, which is rare. I've seen it before, but usually when new artists are starting or low-charting songs. In any case, it doesn't mean it's banned or something, because they are playing it... but little.

Thank you for the insight! It’s a little worrying to me because we all know radio was hesitant to play Miley before Flowers

It looks weird rn that the entire company isn’t really playing the song, yet the song is top 25. Z100/KIIS still haven't added it either... Not sure if there's something going on or maybe Columbia hasn’t fully moved on from promoting Flowers & hasn't pushed the new single to iHeart stations yet? (not sure if it even works like that :deadbanana:)

I found this past chart for R&R from this date in 2000, which had 174 reporting stations (like today). This was a time when there was real variety on Pop radio and songs didn't overstay their welcome. Oh, and the published update took place on Friday.

I agree 👍! I wish albums would at least go to 5 singles with the album released no later than 2nd song. And I wish artists only release singles for downloading & streaming when radio picks it up as a single & not make everything available til song 5. If the album goes 5 songs deep but the label doesn't release the album til song 4 then you're really going 2 songs deep. I think Justin Bieber had 5 songs on his last album but didn't release the record til song 5 Ghost. That's not the same thing.

It looks like AT40 has finally pulled the plug on Love From the Other Side. Look for it to drop about 200 spins in the coming days. (Yep, it’s time to move on to What a Time to be Alive.)

Also, on AT40, Sure Thing moves into the Top 5.

It looks like Le Bebe is getting a push on a couple formats.

Sad to see Gracie Abrams doing poorly. She has potential but the song is not that radio friendly to start with

Yes, once Sure Thing passes Creepin, it should be the next #1 and things will start returning to normal.
