Yeah... That Special got so high was so stupid

The good thing about this is that Special is actually getting large negative updates and will have a fast descent, unlike 2 Be Loved, which was milked to the very end.

Here's the BB Country Airplay Chart for this week. country_update_2023_0428.pdf

Last Night surged by almost 5 million impressions just at Country radio, unheard of at Country unless its 1st week &// the final week label push. Also, Between A Rock And A Hard Place gets week 6 at #1. All of a sudden labels seem to settle for #2s now. Only 1 song this year only got 1 #1 wk, Son Of A Sinner. Thought You Should Know had 3 weeks & the others had 2. Fast Car didn't gain much but could this coming week. Combs will probably be charting 2 songs at once soon too. Last Night looks like it got the biggest daily update, >2 million, at #5 on MB AI & doesnt even have a remix yet. LN could be 2023s biggest hit &// summer song.

Wait, why is Brett Young's "You Didn't" listed in the recurrents section? It went for max spins this week. Where did it even peak on Billboard anyway?

He peaked at #10 in its 70th week, 4 weeks ago. Yeah YD is #7 in audience. Maybe its age is why. 70+ weeks is WAAAAYYYY too long for a label to try & work a song. YD debuted before Christmas 2021.

Karma's rise reminds me of the older era of pop radio where an album track could be designated as a single months after the album's release without needing a remix or video or other sort of re-release to trigger it. So much more exciting than most album eras nowadays where you have to release a song before or right when the album drops if you want it to smash on radio.

It's weird how Karma isnt doing anything on HAC yet though. Taylor has been much bigger there in recent years than on pop

Ikr, it got picked up IMMEDIATELY after it was barely announced that it would be sent to radio in coming weeks. Its adds date isn't even until May 2 and it's already #32 (and on TTH) :deadbanana4: Truly insane, radio literally pounced on it

I definitely miss when artists would only release 1 song for download/stream at a time. Albums sold more, produced more singles & lasted longer on the charts. 1989 gave us 7 singles. Teenage Dream gave us 8. Right now Midnights is having to put forth effort to move past Anti-Hero, despite Midnights being the biggest selling album in many years. In Japan artists have released albums at the end of an era instead of start for years. But I miss albums going at least 5 songs deep & the album released when the 1st or 2nd single comes out, not at the end.

What’s their current single? Their lead wasn’t my vibe and I never checked after that

The other 2 are too strong. And Hot AC doesn’t replay songs in power rotation as much as Top 40. Gotta wait for them to drop first.

Yeah, you made some points there, although HAC is just now dropping LH, which is still strong. Plus, AH being rightfully a monster on the format. Wait till the next couple of days, it might start rising fast there.

Hahaha! Yall have IHeart radio in Canada too! I'm listening to the Leafs v Bolts game. Are there any Rhythmic stations up there now? I see All Access Charts for Active Rock, Alt Rock, T 40, HAC, Main AC & Country but not Rhythmic/Urban. And is there a Canada MB AI chart? I only see the 6 separate charts not a combo.

OT Its complicated but I actually like TML over Bolts in Hockey. Baseball is Rays 1st & Blue Jays 2nd though.

I’m tired of Country radio playing Kelsea dust

like she’s a proven hit maker, her songs shouldn’t take a whole year to peak

KB's not alone in having super slow rises on the Country Airplay chart. Tim McGraw needed 50 wks to reach #1 in spins in 2022 (peaked #4 audience). He's huge & has been for decades. KB is +320 to 2686, moving 35-32 on All Stations.

The thing with Lizzo and how she struggles so horribly with scoring hits is... her voice tbh, she easily has one of the most unpleasing tones in the industry right now. When not propery controlled the result can be... annoying af. :mazen:

OK You Didnt is not a bad song but trying to now force it up & over Last Night when YD had 70+ weeks to rise "organically" is bullshit. LN has the audience lead & hopefully will keep it.
